Minimum distance regression-type estimates with rates under weak dependence
Under weak dependence, a minimum distance estimate is obtained for a smooth function and its derivatives in a regression-type framework. The upper bound of the risk depends on the Kolmogorov entropy of the underlying space and the mixing coefficient. It is shown that the proposed estimates have the same rate of convergence, in the L 1-norm sense, as in the independent case
Stress and Employee Engagement
We explored strategies that HR leaders within a single healthcare organization in Franklin, Tennessee, used to reduce employee disengagement caused by stress and identified four themes related to business practice. The four themes were (a) integration of employee engagement practices into culture and business processes, (b) providing managers with the job resources they need, (c) intentionality, transparency, and honesty in communications, and (d) relying on supportive supervisor behavior. Senior executives and HR leaders should examine the feasibility of proactively implementing similar strategies to mitigate employee work place stress, reduce disengagement, and improve employee engagement and commitment to the organization

One stage multiple comparisons with the control for exponential median lifetimes under heteroscedasticity
[[abstract]]When the additional sample for the second stage may not be available, one-stage multiple comparisons for exponential median lifetimes with the control under heteroscedasticity including one-sided and two-sided confidence intervals are proposed in this paper since the median is a more robust measure of central tendency compared to the mean. These intervals can be used to identify treatment populations that are better than the control or worse than the control in terms of median lifetimes in agriculture, stock market, pharmaceutical industries. Tables of critical values are obtained for practical use. An example of comparing the survival days for four categories of lung cancer in a standard chemotherapeutic agent is given to demonstrate the proposed procedures.[[notice]]補正完
Controlled mobility in stochastic and dynamic wireless networks
We consider the use of controlled mobility in wireless networks where messages arriving randomly in time and space are collected by mobile receivers (collectors). The collectors are responsible for receiving these messages via wireless transmission by dynamically adjusting their position in the network. Our goal is to utilize a combination of wireless transmission and controlled mobility to improve the throughput and delay performance in such networks. First, we consider a system with a single collector. We show that the necessary and sufficient stability condition for such a system is given by ρ<1 where ρ is the expected system load. We derive lower bounds for the expected message waiting time in the system and develop policies that are stable for all loads ρ<1 and have asymptotically optimal delay scaling. We show that the combination of mobility and wireless transmission results in a delay scaling of Θ([1 over 1−ρ]) with the system load ρ, in contrast to the Θ([1 over (1−ρ)[superscript 2]]) delay scaling in the corresponding system without wireless transmission, where the collector visits each message location. Next, we consider the system with multiple collectors. In the case where simultaneous transmissions to different collectors do not interfere with each other, we show that both the stability condition and the delay scaling extend from the single collector case. In the case where simultaneous transmissions to different collectors interfere with each other, we characterize the stability region of the system and show that a frame-based version of the well-known Max-Weight policy stabilizes the system asymptotically in the frame length.National Science Foundation (U.S.) (Grant CNS-0915988)United States.
