Platelet kinetics in the pulmonary microcirculation in vivo assessed by intravital microscopy
Growing evidence supports the substantial pathophysiological impact of platelets on the development of acute lung injury. Methods for studying these cellular mechanisms in vivo are not present yet. The aim of this study was to develop a model enabling the quantitative analysis of platelet kinetics and platelet-endothelium interaction within consecutive segments of the pulmonary microcirculation in vivo. New Zealand White rabbits were anesthetized and ventilated. Autologous platelets were separated from blood and labeled ex vivo with rhodamine 6G. After implantation of a thoracic window, microhemodynamics and kinetics of platelets were investigated by intravital microscopy. Velocities of red blood cells (RBCs) and platelets were measured in arterioles, capillaries and venules, and the number of platelets adhering to the microvascular endothelium was counted. Kinetics of unstimulated platelets was compared with kinetics of thrombin-activated platelets. Velocity of unstimulated platelets was comparable to RBC velocity in all vessel segments. Unstimulated platelets passed the pulmonary microcirculation without substantial platelet-endothelial interaction. In contrast, velocity of activated platelets was decreased in all vascular segments indicating platelet margination and temporal platelet-endothelium interaction. Thrombin-activated platelets adhered to arteriolar endothelium; in capillaries and venules adherence of platelets was increased 8-fold and 13-fold, respectively. In conclusion, using intravital microscopy platelet kinetics were directly analyzed in the pulmonary microcirculation in vivo for the first time. In contrast to leukocytes, no substantial platelet-endothelium interaction occurs in the pulmonary microcirculation without any further stimulus. In response to platelet activation, molecular mechanisms enable adhesion of platelets in arterioles and venules as well as retention of platelets within capillaries. Copyright (C) 2002 S. Analisis Pengaruh Modal Intelektual terhadap Profitabilitas, Produktifitas, dan Penilaian Pasar Perusahaan (Studi Kasus pada 35 Perusahaan Lq-45 di Bursa Efek Indonesia Periode 2012-2014)
Purpose – Intelectual capital (IC) shows a significant frowing acceptable as a worthytopic of academic investigation and practical implication. The purspose of this study is to measure the influence of intellectual capital on firms; profitability, productivity, and market valuation.Methodology design – The empirical data were drawn from a panel consisting of 35 Indonesian companies listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX), from several different economic sectors, observed over the three-year period of 2012 to 2014. Regeression models were examined in order to test the hyposteses included in the proposed conceptual framework.Findings – Result success to support most of the hypotheses,concluding that there are two significant influence of intellectual capital on productivity and market valuation. But failed to support the first hypotheses that is the influence of intellectual capital on profitability. Despite the fact thai intellectual capital is increasingly recognized as an important strategic asset for sustainable corporate competitive disadvantage, the result of the present study give rise to various arguments, criticism and further research on the subject.Research Limitation – The little amount of data for the appropriate analysis and the relatively narrow three-year period for data collection, research subject only 35companies that is listed on Indonesian Stock Exchange are the main limitation of the present study
Pemodelan Dan Simulasi Penyebaran Penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) Dengan Menggunakan Model Cellular Automata
Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia. Penyakit demam berdarah sering terjadi di daerah tropis dikarenakan nyamuk pembawa virus terdapat hampir di seluruh pelosok Indonesia khususnya daerah yang beriklim tropis. Kota Manado merupakan salah satu daerah yang endemik untuk kasus demam berdarah, jumlah kasus DBD di kota Manado hampir setiap tahunnya meningkat. Melihat realita kasus DBD yang terjadi, maka perlu adanya kerja sama dari semua elemen baik dari masyarakat umum, pelayanan kesehatan, dunia pendidikan dan pemerintah untuk bersama-sama mencegah terjadinya wabah demam berdarah dilingkungan sekitar tempat tinggal. Penelitian ini akan membahas tentang perkembangan penyakit DBD i kota Manado pada tahun 2011 – 2014, sehingga dari hasil penelitian tersebut menghasilkan sebuah aplikasi yang dapat menjalankan simulasi penyebaran penyakit DBD pada tahun 2011 – 2014 di kota Manado. Aplikasi tersebut bermanfaat untuk memberikan informasi tentang perkembangan kasus DBD tahun 2011 – 2014 pada 9 kecamatan yang ada di kota Manado

The investigation of Swiss chemical and pharmaceutical companies regarding their working capital management has revealed the huge potential which is lying in the management of short term assets and liabilities. Furthermore, the considerable differences between the single firms show that an optimized working capital management may play an important role for a firm’s competitiveness. A successful working apital strategy relies on the commitment and awareness of the management and on efficient working capital practices on the operative level. In addition, internal and external collaboration leads to more competitiveness, both for the firm as well as for the whole supply chain. A consistent and ongoing monitoring ensures sustainable improvements, and can be supported and enhanced by a benchmarking analysis and the adaption of best practices
Rancang Bangun Aplikasi Game Pengenalan Sejarah Perang Tondano
Sejarah merupakan bagian dari kehidupan manusia yang terjadi secara kronologis dan benar-benar terjadi pada masa lampau dengan didukung bukti-bukti yang nyata. Generasi muda lebih cenderung menjelajahi dunia International dengan menggunakan gadget yang mereka miliki, dengan begitu dapat lebih mendorong generasi muda untuk tidak peduli dengan sejarah. Salah satu sejarah yang dilupakan adalah Perang Tondano, dimana banyak orang yang ada di Sulawesi Utara termasuk generasi muda yang ada di dalamnya tidak mengetahui tentang sejarah perang ini. Dengan merancang dan membangun Aplikasi Game Pengenalan Sejarah Perang Tondano dapat menjadi sarana pengenalan sejarah tentang Perang Tondano bagi generasi muda. Penulis menggunakan Unity 3D dalam membuat aplikasi Game Pengenalan Sejarah Perang Tondano. Dalam pembuatan aplikasi ini metode yang digunakan adalah Metode Extreme Programming. Aplikasi Game Pengenalan Sejarah Perang Tondano ini bukan hanya sekedar game biasa tetapi memiliki storytelling yang menjelaskan mengapa sampai Perang Tondano itu terjadi. Aplikasi Game Pengenalan Sejarah Perang Tondano menjadi sarana untuk memperkenalkan kepada generasi muda maupun masyarakat umum dengan cara yang interaktif dan menarik
Religious Identity, Religious Attendance, and Parental Control
Using a national sample of adolescents aged 10–18 years and their parents (N = 5,117), this article examines whether parental religious identity and religious participation are associated with the ways in which parents control their children. We hypothesize that both religious orthodoxy and weekly religious attendance are related to heightened levels of three elements of parental control: monitoring activities, normative regulations, and network closure. Results indicate that an orthodox religious identity for Catholic and Protestant parents and higher levels of religious attendance for parents as a whole are associated with increases in monitoring activities and normative regulations of American adolescents
