Product line design
We characterize the product line choice and pricing of a monopolist from the upper envelope of net marginal revenue curves to the individual product demand functions. The equilibrium product line constitutes those varieties yielding the highest upper envelope. In a generalized vertical differentiation framework, the equilibrium line is exactly the same as the first-best socially optimal line. Opaque Selling
We study “opaque” selling in multiproduct environments – a marketing practice in which sellers strategically withhold product information by keeping important characteristics of their products hidden until after purchase. We show that a monopolist will always use opaque selling, but it is not first-best optimal to do so. However, opaque selling might be used at the constrained optimum (with the monopolist’s pricing behavior taken as given). For linear disutility costs, it is optimal for a monopolist to offer a single opaque product

Impact differences among the landing phases of a drop vertical jump in soccer players
The aim of this study was to examine the differences of landing phase biomechanics between the players who had anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and healthy participants during single leg drop vertical jump. In this study, 11 soccer players who had anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (aged 23.0±3.6 years, height 177±5.0 cm, weight 83.8±11.7 kg) and 9 healthy soccer players( aged 22.2±2.4 years, height 178±3.0 cm, weight 74.3±6.1 kg) participated voluntarily. During the data collection phase three high speed cameras synchronized to each other and force plate were used. Visual analysis programme and MATLAB were used to calculate kinetic and kinematic variables. Landing techniques of the subjects' were examined by flexion angle of knee, ground reaction force and moment parameters. The statistical analyses of the measured results were performed by t-test and Pearson Correlation analysis. According to the results, it was determined that peak vertical ground reaction force exhibited significant phase differences (p=0.00, and p=0.00, respectively) between the groups. Obtained results can be explained with "quadriceps avoidance" motion pattern which is characterized by decreased quadriceps activity and lower external knee flexion moment in an effort to control anterior translation of the tibia in subjects with ACL reconstruction. A better understanding of the different phases during single-leg landings can shed a light on mechanism of non-contact anterior crucaite ligament injuries therefore future researches should assess how phase differences affect drop vertical jump performance. © 2018 Montenegrin Sports Academy. Modeling the Influence of Antifreeze Proteins on Three-Dimensional Ice Crystal Melt Shapes using a Geometric Approach
The melting of pure axisymmetric ice crystals has been described previously
by us within the framework of so-called geometric crystal growth.
Nonequilibrium ice crystal shapes evolving in the presence of hyperactive
antifreeze proteins (hypAFPs) are experimentally observed to assume ellipsoidal
geometries ("lemon" or "rice" shapes). To analyze such shapes we harness the
underlying symmetry of hexagonal ice Ih and extend two-dimensional geometric
models to three-dimensions to reproduce the experimental dissolution process.
The geometrical model developed will be useful as a quantitative test of the

De invloed van diversiteitsmanagement op de binding van werknemers in de publieke sector
In reactie op de ontwikkelingen in de samenleving en op de arbeidsmarkt voeren publieke organisaties vaak diversiteitsbeleid. Er is weinig bekend over de effectiviteit van diversiteitmanagement en de concrete beleidsinstrumenten die in dat kader worden ingezet. In dit artikel is de invloed van diversiteitmanagement en enkele beleidsinstrumenten op de binding van werknemers in de Nederlandse publieke sector onderzocht en wordt nagegaan wat daarbij de rol is van leiderschap. Project PROMETHEUS: Design and Construction of a Radio Frequency Quadrupole at TAEK
The PROMETHEUS Project is ongoing for the design and development of a 4-vane
radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) together with its H+ ion source, a low energy
beam transport (LEBT) line and diagnostics section. The main goal of the
project is to achieve the acceleration of the low energy ions up to 1.5 MeV by
an RFQ (352 MHz) shorter than 2 meter. A plasma ion source is being developed
to produce a 20 keV, 1 mA H+ beam. Simulation results for ion source,
transmission and beam dynamics are presented together with analytical studies
performed with newly developed RFQ design code DEMIRCI. Simulation results
shows that a beam transmission 99% could be achieved at 1.7 m downstream
reaching an energy of 1.5 MeV. As the first phase an Aluminum RFQ prototype,
the so-called cold model, will be built for low power RF characterization. In
this contribution the status of the project, design considerations, simulation
results, the various diagnostics techniques and RFQ manufacturing issues are

A New Approach to Spin Glass Simulations
We present a recursive procedure to calculate the parameters of the recently
introduced multicanonical ensemble and explore the approach for spin glasses.
Temperature dependence of the energy, the entropy and other physical quantities
are easily calculable and we report results for the zero temperature limit. Our
data provide evidence that the large increase of the ergodicity time is
greatly improved. The multicanonical ensemble seems to open new horizons for
simulations of spin glasses and other systems which have to cope with
conflicting constraints
Kinematic landslide monitoring with Kalman filtering
International audienceLandslides are serious geologic disasters that threat human life and property in every country. In addition, landslides are one of the most important natural phenomena, which directly or indirectly affect countries' economy. Turkey is also the country that is under the threat of landslides. Landslides frequently occur in all of the Black Sea region as well as in many parts of Marmara, East Anatolia, and Mediterranean regions. Since these landslides resulted in destruction, they are ranked as the second important natural phenomenon that comes after earthquake in Turkey. In recent years several landslides happened after heavy rains and the resulting floods. This makes the landslide monitoring and mitigation techniques an important study subject for the related professional disciplines in Turkey. The investigations on surface deformations are conducted to define the boundaries of the landslide, size, level of activity and direction(s) of the movement, and to determine individual moving blocks of the main slide. This study focuses on the use of a kinematic deformation analysis based on Kalman Filtering at a landslide area near Istanbul. Kinematic deformation analysis has been applied in a landslide area, which is located to the north of Istanbul city. Positional data were collected using GPS technique. As part of the study, conventional static deformation analysis methodology has also been applied on the same data. The results and comparisons are discussed in this paper
