Building an XML document warehouse
International audienceData Warehouses and OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) technologies are dedicated to analyzing structured data issued from organizations' OLTP (On Line Transaction Processing) systems. Furthermore, in order to enhance their decision support systems, these organizations need to explore XML (eXtensible Markup Language) documents as an additional and important source of unstructured data. In this context, this paper addresses the warehousing of document-centric XML documents. More specifically, we propose a two-method approach to build Document Warehouse conceptual schemas. The first method is for the unification of XML document structures; it aims to elaborate a global and generic view for a set of XML documents belonging to the same domain. The second method is for designing multidimensional galaxy schemas for Document Warehouses
Cardiovascular disease risk prediction in older people: a qualitative study.
BACKGROUND: Despite cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk prediction equations becoming more widely available for people aged ≥75 years, views of older people on CVD risk assessment are unknown. AIM: To explore older people's views on CVD risk prediction and its assessment. DESIGN AND SETTING: Qualitative study of community-dwelling older people in New Zealand. METHOD: A diverse group of older people was purposively recruited. Semi-structured interviews and focus groups were conducted, transcribed verbatim, and thematically analysed. RESULTS: Thirty-nine participants (mean age 74 years) of Māori, Pacific, South Asian, and European ethnicities participated in one of 26 interviews or one of three focus groups. Three key themes emerged: poor knowledge and understanding of CVD and its risk assessment; acceptability and perceived benefit of knowing and receiving advice on managing personal CVD risk; and distinguishing between CVD outcomes - stroke and heart attack are not the same. Most participants did not understand CVD terms, but were familiar with the terms 'heart attack' and 'stroke', and understood lifestyle risk factors for these events. Participants valued CVD outcomes differently, fearing stroke and disability - which might adversely affect independence and quality of life - but were less concerned about a heart attack, which was perceived as causing less disability or swifter death. These findings and preferences were similar across ethnic groups. All but two participants wanted to know their CVD risk, how to manage it, and distinguish between CVD outcomes. Those who did not wish to know perceived this as something only their God could decide. CONCLUSION: To inform clinical decision making for older people, consideration of an individual's wish to know their risk is important, and risk prediction tools should provide separate event types rather than just composite outcomes
Myasthenie - spondylarthropathies: association fortuite ?
Hölder-Type Inequalities for Power Series of Operators in Hilbert Spaces
Consider the power series with complex coefficients h(z)=∑k=0∞akzk and its modified version ha(z)=∑k=0∞|ak|zk. In this article, we explore the application of certain Hölder-type inequalities for deriving various inequalities for operators acting on the aforementioned power series. We establish these inequalities under the assumption of the convergence of h(z) on the open disk D(0,ρ), where ρ denotes the radius of convergence. Additionally, we investigate the norm and numerical radius inequalities associated with these concepts
Power Bounds for the Numerical Radius of the Off-Diagonal 2 × 2 Operator Matrix
In this paper, we employ a generalization of the Boas–Bellman inequality for inner products, as developed by Mitrinović–Pečarić–Fink, to derive several upper bounds for the 2p-th power with p≥1 of the numerical radius of the off-diagonal operator matrix 0AB*0 for any bounded linear operators A and B on a complex Hilbert space H. While the general matrix is not symmetric, a special case arises when B=A*, where the matrix becomes symmetric. This symmetry plays a crucial role in the derivation of our bounds, illustrating the importance of symmetric structures in operator theory
Improved Bounds for the Euclidean Numerical Radius of Operator Pairs in Hilbert Spaces
This paper presents new lower and upper bounds for the Euclidean numerical radius of operator pairs in Hilbert spaces, demonstrating improvements over recent results by other authors. Additionally, we derive new inequalities for the numerical radius and the Davis–Wielandt radius as natural consequences of our findings
New Results on Boas–Bellman-Type Inequalities in Semi-Hilbert Spaces with Applications
In this article, we investigate new findings on Boas–Bellman-type inequalities in semi-Hilbert spaces. These spaces are generated by semi-inner products induced by positive and positive semidefinite operators. Our objective is to reveal significant properties of such spaces and apply these results to the field of multivariable operator theory. Specifically, we derive new inequalities that relate to the joint A-numerical radius, the joint operator A-seminorm, and the Euclidean A-seminorm of tuples of semi-Hilbert space operators. We assume that A is a nonzero positive operator. Our discoveries provide insights into the structure of semi-Hilbert spaces and have implications for a broad range of mathematical applications and beyond
Inequalities and reverse inequalities for the joint A-numerical radius of operators
In this paper, we aim to establish several estimates concerning the generalized Euclidean operator radius of d-tuples of A-bounded linear operators acting on a complex Hilbert space (Formula presented.), which leads to the special case of the well-known A-numerical radius for (Formula presented.). Here, A is a positive operator on (Formula presented.). Some inequalities related to the Euclidean operator A-seminorm of d-tuples of A-bounded operators are proved. In addition, under appropriate conditions, several reverse bounds for the A-numerical radius in single and multivariable settings are also stated
