Comparison of the Automated Oscillometric Method With the Gold Standard Doppler Ultrasound Method to Access the Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index
Objective: Despite its screening interest, the ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI) remains uncommon in general practice, because it needs training and specific devices as Doppler. Easier methods such as the use of automated oscillometric devices may facilitate the peripheral arterial diseases (PADs) screening. We wanted to assess the reliability of the automated oscillometric measurement of the ABPI, compared with the gold standard Doppler ultrasound measurement. Patients and Method: In 287 patients aged 65 years or older without diagnosed PAD, we performed ABPI measurements with oscillometric and Doppler devices. Reproducibility was assessed by the intraclass correlation coefficient of agreement (R) and the Bland and Altman method. Results: The intermethod reliability was bad (R = .346, 95% CI = (0.268-0.420)), with a large confidence interval of the individual differences between the 2 methods: 95% CI = (—0.183-0.346). Conclusion: Automatic oscillometric devices cannot be recommended as reliable methods for ABPI measurement

The results using statistical test of chi-square obtained to knowledge the ρ value = 0.008 <α = 0.05 motivation ρ value = 0.011 <α = 0.05 and family support ρ value = 0.001 <α = 0.05. Conclusion this study has shown a significant relationship between knowledge, motivation and family support with medication adherence in hypertensive patients at Puskesmas Ranotana Weru
Uranus evolution models with simple thermal boundary layers
The strikingly low luminosity of Uranus (Teff ~ Teq) constitutes a
long-standing challenge to our understanding of Ice Giant planets. Here we
present the first Uranus structure and evolution models that are constructed to
agree with both the observed low luminosity and the gravity field data. Our
models make use of modern ab initio equations of state at high pressures for
the icy components water, methane, and ammonia. Proceeding step by step, we
confirm that adiabatic models yield cooling times that are too long, even when
uncertainties in the ice:rock ratio (I:R) are taken into account. We then argue
that the transition between the ice/rock-rich interior and the H/He-rich outer
envelope should be stably stratified. Therefore, we introduce a simple thermal
boundary and adjust it to reproduce the low luminosity. Due to this thermal
boundary, the deep interior of the Uranus models are up to 2--3 warmer than
adiabatic models, necessitating the presence of rocks in the deep interior with
a possible I:R of solar. Finally, we allow for an equilibrium
evolution (Teff ~ Teq) that begun prior to the present day, which would
therefore no longer require the current era to be a "special time" in Uranus'
evolution. In this scenario, the thermal boundary leads to more rapid cooling
of the outer envelope. When Teff ~ Teq is reached, a shallow, subadiabatic zone
in the atmosphere begins to develop. Its depth is adjusted to meet the
luminosity constraint. This work provides a simple foundation for future Ice
Giant structure and evolution models, that can be improved by properly treating
the heat and particle fluxes in the diffusive zones.Comment: 13 pages, Accepted to Icaru
PARTICIPATION DECISIONS, ANGLER WELFARE, AND THE REGIONAL ECONOMIC IMPACT OF SPORTFISHING
We link a stochastic binary choice model of individual decisions to participate in the marine sport fisheries in Cook Inlet, Alaska, with a simulation- based sample enumeration procedure for aggregating estimates of individual angler welfare and a regionally adjusted zip code-level input-output model of regional economic activity. The result is a behaviorally based model for predicting changes in angler welfare and regional economic activity occasioned by changes in the demand for sportfishing that arise from changes in trip costs or the expected number, size, or mix of species caught. The advantages of this approach are that: changes in angler participation are determined by variables that are observable, predictable, or subject to management control; participation reflects declining marginal utility, and substitution and complementary effects across trip attributes; estimates of changes in aggregate angler welfare and changes in regional economic impacts are derived from changes in individual participation probabilities.Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,
Development of CZT strip detector modules for 0.05- to 1-MeV gamma-ray imaging and spectroscopy
We report progress in our study of cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) strip detectors featuring orthogonal coplanar anode contacts. We specifically report on the performance, characterization and stability of 5 and 10 mm thick prototype CZT detectors fabricated using material from several manufacturers. Our ongoing work includes laboratory and simulation studies aimed at optimizing and developing compact, efficient, high performance detector modules for 0.05 to 1 MeV gamma radiation measurements with space-based instrumentation. The coplanar anode strip configuration retains many of the performance advantages of pixel detectors yet requires far fewer electronic channels to perform both 3-d imaging and spectroscopy. Minimizing the channel count is important for large balloon or space instruments including coded aperture telescopes (such as MARGIE or EXIST) and Compton imaging telescopes (such as TIGRE or ACT). We also present plans for developing compact, space qualified imaging modules designed for integration into closely packed large area detector arrays. We discuss issues associated with detector module and array electronics design and development
Phase separation in hydrogen-helium mixtures at Mbar pressures
The properties of hydrogen-helium mixtures at Mbar pressures and intermediate
temperatures (4000 to 10000 K) are calculated with first-principles molecular
dynamics simulations. We determine the equation of state as a function of
density, temperature, and composition and, using thermodynamic integration, we
estimate the Gibbs free energy of mixing, thereby determining the temperature,
at a given pressure, when helium becomes insoluble in dense metallic hydrogen.
These results are directly relevant to models of the interior structure and
evolution of Jovian planets. We find that the temperatures for the demixing of
helium and hydrogen are sufficiently high to cross the planetary adiabat of
Saturn at pressures around 5 Mbar; helium is partially miscible throughout a
significant portion of the interior of Saturn, and to a lesser extent in
Jupiter.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures. Published in "Proceedings of the National Academy

Pengaruh Penyuluhan Kesehatan Tentang Hiv-aids Terhadap Stigma Masyarakat Di Desa Watumea Kecamatan Eris Kabupaten Minahasa
Abstact Stigma is the act of providing a social label that aims to separate or discredit a person or group of people with a stamp or a bad view. Many factors influence the emergence of stigma in society, one of the most influencing factors is the lack of knowledge of a person about a disease. For that we need to do health education in the form of health education to increase public knowledge. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of health education on HIV-AIDS on community stigma in Watumea Village, Eris Sub-District, Minahasa District. The research method is using pre experimental design using one group pre-post test design approach. Sampling technique in this research Random Sampling. Data collection was done by using questionnaire. Data processing using computer program with wilcoxon signed rank test with significance level 95% (α =0,005). The result of the research by using wilcoxon signed rank analysis showed significant influence of health education to society stigma (p = 0,000). Conclusion There is influence of health education about HIV-AIDS to society stigma in Watumea Village, District of Eris Minahasa Regency. Suggestions for the Community to actively seek information about HIV-AIDS especially the factors of spread and overcome them
