Цифровые видеоконверторы для радиоастрономических систем преобразования сигналов
The digital down converters can be used on the radio telescopes with small antennas which are equipped with digital data acquisition systems with bands Bs = 512 MHz. The down converters provide extracts a number of signals with bands AF = 16 or 8 MHz at specified frequencies from the digital sequence of samples of a wideband signal with the frequency fd = 1024 MHz, 4-level quantization and formatting of the extracted signals according to the international standard VDIF that used in radiointerferometry. This is necessary to connect a radio telescope with broadband data acquisition systems (for example, RT-13) to international radio interferometry networks (VLBI), which use systems with narrowband (up to 16 MHz) signals. The developed module is made on the basis of the programmable logic integrated circuit (FPGA) XC7K325T and provide extracts and formats up to 16 narrowband (16 or 8 MHz) signals from three digital broadband signals that received from the broadband channels of the radio telescope via fiber optic lines by the 10 gigabit ethernet. The resulting data stream is sent to the buffering device for subsequent transmission to the VLBI correlator. The digital down converters operating at a clock frequency fm = 128 MHz, allow to extract signals in band Bc = 64 MHz and are tuned with 10 kHz steps by digital oscillator synthesizers. The Bs band of input signal are splitted by 8 channels using 8-channel polyphase filters, which reduce the clock frequencies by eight times. The module provides the same mode of signal extraction and formatting, which is widely used in VLBI networks with astrometric and geodetic observations in two wave bands.
Creation and decay of eta-mesic nuclei
First experimental results on photoproduction of eta-mesic nuclei are
analyzed. In an experiment performed at the 1 GeV electron synchrotron of the
Lebedev Physical Institute, correlated pi+n pairs arising from the reaction
gamma + 12C -> N + eta(A-1) -> N + pi+ + n + (A-2) and flying transversely to
the photon beam have been observed. When the photon energy exceeds the
eta-meson production threshold, a distribution of the pi+n pairs over their
total energy is found to have a peak in the subthreshold region of the
internal-conversion process eta p -> pi+ n which signals about formation of
eta-mesic nuclei.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures. Talk at CIPANP, May 2000, Quebe
The Use of Digital Technologies to Improve the Efficiency of Career Vehicles
The article discusses the factors affecting the performance of a dump truck and ways to improve their efficiency. The main factor is the quality of drilling and blasting operations, in- cluding the average size of the fraction of the exploded mass and the volume of the oversized. The methods of determining the quality of BVR using various approaches, including artificial intelligence technologies, are investigated. It has been established that the distance to the device is an important indicator for the accuracy of determining the size of the rock. The analysis of methods for estimating this distance has been carried out, and the most promising one has been identified
Key design elements of successful acute ischemic stroke treatment trials
Purpose: We review key design elements of positive randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) treatment and summarize their main characteristics. Method: We searched Medline, Pubmed and Cochrane databases for positive RCTs in AIS treatment. Trials were included if (1) they had a randomized controlled design, with (at least partial) blinding for endpoints, (2) they tested against placebo (or on top of standard therapy in a superiority design) or against approved therapy; (3) the protocol was registered and/or published before trial termination and unblinding (if required at study commencement); (4) the primary endpoint was positive in the intention to treat analysis; and (5) the study findings led to approval of the investigational product and/or high ranked recommendations. A topical approach was used, therefore the findings were summarized as a narrative review. Findings: Seventeen positive RCTs met the inclusion criteria. The majority of trials included less than 1000 patients (n=15), had highly selective inclusion criteria (n=16), used the modified Rankin score as a primary endpoint (n=15) and had a frequentist design (n=16). Trials tended to be national (n=12), investigator-initiated and performed with public funding (n=11).Discussion: Smaller but selective trials are useful to identify efficacy in a particular subgroup of stroke patients. It may also be of advantage to limit the number of participating countries and centers to avoid heterogeneity in stroke management and bureaucratic burden.Conclusion: The key characteristics of positive RCTs in AIS treatment described here may assist in the design of further trials investigating a single intervention with a potentially high effect size
Recommended reading list of early publications on atomic layer deposition-Outcome of the "Virtual Project on the History of ALD"
Atomic layer deposition (ALD), a gas-phase thin film deposition technique based on repeated, self-terminating gas-solid reactions, has become the method of choice in semiconductor manufacturing and many other technological areas for depositing thin conformal inorganic material layers for various applications. ALD has been discovered and developed independently, at least twice, under different names: atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) and molecular layering. ALE, dating back to 1974 in Finland, has been commonly known as the origin of ALD, while work done since the 1960s in the Soviet Union under the name "molecular layering" (and sometimes other names) has remained much less known. The virtual project on the history of ALD (VPHA) is a volunteer-based effort with open participation, set up to make the early days of ALD more transparent. In VPHA, started in July 2013, the target is to list, read and comment on all early ALD academic and patent literature up to 1986. VPHA has resulted in two essays and several presentations at international conferences. This paper, based on a poster presentation at the 16th International Conference on Atomic Layer Deposition in Dublin, Ireland, 2016, presents a recommended reading list of early ALD publications, created collectively by the VPHA participants through voting. The list contains 22 publications from Finland, Japan, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, and United States. Up to now, a balanced overview regarding the early history of ALD has been missing; the current list is an attempt to remedy this deficiency. (C) 2016 Author(s).Peer reviewe
