The project undergoes various stages during its development, ranging from explorationobservation, collection-selection, and construction-interaction; through these actions the key factor is discovered and the relationship with space, an unconscious need care and transformation thereof; Careri skill as theirs and only own condition of "sedentary" as for himself author, nomads lack such capacity for their condition transience in the spaces. In its first stage called Scan-Observation, the space chosen to interact was the university, considering that was my immediate environment, however, those spaces were so great that did not allow me to recognize my identity within them, for that reason, place for intervention fell to my house, my most intimate place under constant transformation. Similarly, it was necessary to investigate, investigate, find a theoretical basis that would give base, at least conceptually and understand the reason behind intervene experimentally my space; Manel Margalef great authors appeared, Francesco Careri, Michel De Certeau, Jean Baudrillard, among others, all offered concepts, some adopted and others refute mainly nomadism of Careri, a term that allows the construction of this project. Finally, in its third stage, called construction-interaction appropriated abandoned and through elements developed based on wastepaper spaces, interved by scenes and / or own images of the site through graphics or figurative drawing, at that time feed my job with key referents, Leon Ferrari, Slikanchu, who with their distorted graphics and writing allowed me to make drawings for places that intervened. The corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF)-producing neurons of the amygdala have been implicated in behavioral and physiological responses associated with fear, anxiety, stress, food intake and reward. To overcome the difficulties in identifying CRF neurons within the amygdala, a novel transgenic mouse line, in which the humanized recombinant Renilla reniformis green fluorescent protein (hrGFP) is under the control of the CRF promoter (CRF-hrGFP mice), was developed. First, the CRF-hrGFP mouse model was validated and the localization of CRF neurons within the amygdala was systematically mapped. Amygdalar hrGFP-expressing neurons were located primarily in the interstitial nucleus of the posterior limb of the anterior commissure, but also present in the central amygdala. Secondly, the marker of neuronal activation c-Fos was used to explore the response of amygdalar CRF neurons in CRF-hrGFP mice under different experimental paradigms. C-Fos induction was observed in CRF neurons of CRF-hrGFP mice exposed to an acute social defeat stress event, a fasting/refeeding paradigm or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration. In contrast, no c-Fos induction was detected in CRF neurons of CRF-hrGFP mice exposed to restraint stress, forced swimming test, 48-h fasting, acute high-fat diet (HFD) consumption, intermittent HFD consumption, ad libitum HFD consumption, HFD withdrawal, conditioned HFD aversion, ghrelin administration or melanocortin 4 receptor agonist administration. Thus, this study fully characterizes the distribution of amygdala CRF neurons in mice and suggests that they are involved in some, but not all, stress or food intake-related behaviors recruiting the amygdala

Additive Manufacturing: Investment Casting Prototype Pantera Using 3D Printed PMMA Pattern

    Get PDF
This project explores the investment casting method by varying the pattern-making approach, utilizing 3D printing of PMMA patterns instead of traditional wax or injected polymer patterns to reduce pattern-making costs. The process involves printing the PMMA pattern from a CAD design and manually applying a thin wax coating to enhance the surface finish. The ceramic shell is created using a fused silica and colloidal silica slurry, with a fine silica sand coating until the shell reaches an approximate thickness of 5/16 inches. A specialized robotic system is used for the ceramic coating process, making it faster and easier than traditional methods. The pattern is then melted using a pre-heating furnace, leaving the ceramic shell mold ready for molten metal pouring. This practice demonstrates the benefits of using 3D-printed patterns, such as improved surface finishes and the ability to create more complex patterns through 3D modeling, while also recognizing the time savings achieved through the use of robotic and automated machinery

Objective. Evaluate the effect of zoledronic acid and hydroxocobalamin treatment on alveolar bone microarchitecture in mice with induced periodontitis and osteoporosis. Methods. Experimental design in preclinical phase. Sixteen female mice were included in which osteoporosis was induced by total ovariectomy and periodontitis was also induced by inflammation by 5/0 black silk ligation of the maxillary second molar, all protocols were performed under general anesthesia. The mice were distributed into 4 groups: control, treatment with zoledronic acid, treatment with hydroxocobalamin and combined treatment. At 16 weeks, euthanasia was performed, dissection was performed for evaluation by microtomography; determining bone mineral density (BMD), bone volume (BV/TV), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), number of trabeculae (Tb.N), trabecular separation (Tb.Sp); descriptive and bivariate analysis was performed using 1-way ANOVA with a 95% confidence level. Results. The group that received combined treatment of zoledronic acid and hydroxocobalamin presented higher bone mineral density (BMD), higher bone volume (BV/TV) and lower trabecular separation (Tb.Sp) compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusions. Combined treatment with zoledronic acid and hydroxocobalamin improves bone microarchitectural features in mice with induced osteoporosis and periodontitis

Surveillance of Sentinel Node-Positive Melanoma Patients with Reasons for Exclusion from MSLT-II:Multi-Institutional Propensity Score Matched Analysis

BACKGROUND: In sentinel lymph node (SLN)-positive melanoma, two randomized trials demonstrated equivalent melanoma-specific survival with nodal surveillance vs completion lymph node dissection (CLND). Patients with microsatellites, extranodal extension (ENE) in the SLN, or >3 positive SLNs constitute a high-risk group largely excluded from the randomized trials, for whom appropriate management remains unknown. STUDY DESIGN: SLN-positive patients with any of the three high-risk features were identified from an international cohort. CLND patients were matched 1:1 with surveillance patients using propensity scores. Risk of any-site recurrence, SLN-basin-only recurrence, and melanoma-specific mortality were compared. RESULTS: Among 1,154 SLN-positive patients, 166 had ENE, microsatellites, and/or >3 positive SLN. At 18.5 months median follow-up, 49% had recurrence (vs 26% in patients without high-risk features, p 3 positive SLN constitute a high-risk group with a 2-fold greater recurrence risk. For those managed with nodal surveillance, SLN-basin recurrences were more frequent, but all-site recurrence and melanoma-specific mortality were comparable to patients treated with CLND. Most recurrences were outside the SLN-basin, supporting use of nodal surveillance for SLN-positive patients with microsatellites, ENE, and/ or >3 positive SLN

Genome-wide association study of inhaled corticosteroid response in admixed children with asthma

Background Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are the most widely prescribed and effective medication to control asthma symptoms and exacerbations. However, many children still have asthma exacerbations despite treatment, particularly in admixed populations, such as Puerto Ricans and African Americans. A few genome‐wide association studies (GWAS) have been performed in European and Asian populations, and they have demonstrated the importance of the genetic component in ICS response. Objective We aimed to identify genetic variants associated with asthma exacerbations in admixed children treated with ICS and to validate previous GWAS findings. Methods A meta‐analysis of two GWAS of asthma exacerbations was performed in 1347 admixed children treated with ICS (Hispanics/Latinos and African Americans), analysing 8.7 million genetic variants. Those with P ≤ 5 × 10−6 were followed up for replication in 1697 asthmatic patients from six European studies. Associations of ICS response described in published GWAS were followed up for replication in the admixed populations. Results A total of 15 independent variants were suggestively associated with asthma exacerbations in admixed populations (P ≤ 5 × 10−6). One of them, located in the intergenic region of APOBEC3B and APOBEC3C, showed evidence of replication in Europeans (rs5995653, P = 7.52 × 10−3) and was also associated with change in lung function after treatment with ICS (P = 4.91 × 10−3). Additionally, the reported association of the L3MBTL4‐ARHGAP28 genomic region was confirmed in admixed populations, although a different variant was identified. Conclusions and clinical relevance This study revealed the novel association of APOBEC3B and APOBEC3C with asthma exacerbations in children treated with ICS and replicated previously identified genomic regions. This contributes to the current knowledge about the multiple genetic markers determining responsiveness to ICS which could lead in the future the clinical identification of those asthma patients who are not able to respond to such treatment
