Unified TeV Scale Picture of Baryogenesis and Dark Matter
We present a simple extension of MSSM which provides a unified picture of
cosmological baryon asymmetry and dark matter. Our model introduces a gauge
singlet field and a color triplet field which couple to the
right--handed quark fields. The out--of equilibrium decay of the Majorana
fermion mediated by the exchange of the scalar field generates adequate
baryon asymmetry for GeV and TeV. The scalar partner
of (denoted ) is naturally the lightest SUSY particle as it
has no gauge interactions and plays the role of dark matter.
annihilates into quarks efficiently in the early universe via the exchange of
the fermionic field. The model is experimentally testable in (i)
neutron--antineutron oscillations with a transition time estimated to be around
sec, (ii) discovery of colored particles at LHC with mass of
order TeV, and (iii) direct dark matter detection with a predicted cross
section in the observable range.Comment: 10 pages, one reference updated. Version to appear in Phys. Rev. Let
Study of leptonic CP violation
The "complementary" Ansatz, Tr, where is the prediagonal
neutrino mass matrix, seems a plausible approximation for capturing in a
self-contained way some of the content of Grand Unification. We study its
consequences in the form of relations between the neutrino masses and CP
violation phases.Comment: 8 pages, 1 figure, talk at MRST200
Fine structure of beta decay endpoint spectrum
We note that the fine structure at the endpoint region of the beta decay
spectrum is now essentially known using neutrino oscillation data, if the mass
of one neutrino is specified. This may help to identify the effects of nonzero
neutrino masses in future experiments. An exact treatment of phase space
kinematics is used. This work is independent of theoretical models. Additional
restrictions due to the assumption of a so-called "complementary ansatz" for
the neutrino mass matrix are also discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure
Form Invariance and Symmetry in the Neutrino Mass Matrix
We present the general form of the unitary matrices keeping invariant the
Majorana neutrino mass matrix of specific texture suitable for explaining
oscillation data. In the case of the Tri-bimaximal pattern with two degenerate
masses we give a specific realization of the underlying symmetry which
can be uplifted to a symmetry in a complete theory including charged leptons.
For this, we present a model with three light SM-like
Higgs doublets and one heavy Higgs triplet and find that one can accommodate
the hierarchy of the charged lepton masses. The lepton mass spectrum can also
be achieved in another model extending the SM with three SM-singlet scalars
transforming non trivially under the flavor symmetry. We discuss how such a
model has room for generating enough baryon asymmetry through leptogenesis in
the framework of Type-I and II seesaw mechanisms.Comment: 16 page
Association of serum calcium with level of blood pressure in type 2 diabetic patients
Introduction: Hypertension and diabetes are two common diseases and they affect the same major target organs. Objectives: In this study, we sought to investigate the probable association of serum calcium with levels of systolic and blood pressure in a group of type 2 diabetic (T2D) patients. Patients and Methods: A total of 60 patients with T2D were enrolled to the study. To determine serum creatinine, calcium and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), venous blood samples were obtained in the fasting state. Results: Among 60 participants, 56.7 were female. Mean of ages was 57±8.3 years. Mean of systolic and diastolic blood pressure were 133±13 mmHg and 84±7.4 mmHg, respectively. Mean of serum calcium was 9.0±0.4 mg/dl. In this study, there was no significant difference of serum calcium and HbA1c between males and females. A significant inverse correlation of serum calcium with level of diastolic blood pressure (r=-0.261, p=0.046) was seen (adjusted for duration of diabetes). Moreover, a negative correlation of systolic blood pressure with level of serum calcium was existed, however, this correlation was not significant (r=-0.232, p=0.080) adjusted for duration of diabetes. Conclusions: We found a significant inverse correlation of serum calcium with level of diastolic blood pressure. We propose to more attention to serum calcium during the treatment of hypertension in diabetic patients. © 2013, Society of Diabetic Nephropathy Prevention. All rights reserved
Leptonic CP violation in a two parameter model
We further study the "complementary" Ansatz, Tr=0, for a prediagonal
light Majorana type neutrino mass matrix. Previously, this was studied for the
CP conserving case and the case where the two Majorana type CP violating phases
were present but the Dirac type CP violating phase was neglected. Here we
employ a simple geometric algorithm which enables us to "solve" the Ansatz
including all three CP violating phases. Specifically, given the known neutrino
oscillation data and an assumed two parameter (the third neutrino mass
and the Dirac CP phase ) family of inputs we predict the neutrino
masses and Majorana CP phases. Despite the two parameter ambiguity, interesting
statements emerge.
There is a characteristic pattern of interconnected masses and CP phases. For
large the three neutrinos are approximately degenerate. The only
possibility for a mass hierarchy is to have smaller than the other two. A
hierarchy with largest is not allowed.
Small CP violation is possible only near two special values of . Also,
the neutrinoless double beta decay parameter is approximately bounded as 0.020
eV 0.185 eV. As a byproduct of looking at physical amplitudes we
discuss an alternative parameterization of the lepton mixing matrix which
results in simpler formulas. The physical meaning of this parameterization is
explained.Comment: 12 pages, 1 figur
Modelling the lactation curve of dairy cows using the differentials of growth functions
Descriptions of entire lactations were investigated using six mathematical equations. comprising the differentials of four growth functions (logistic. Gompertz, Schumacher and Morgan) and two other equations (Wood and Dijkstra). The data contained monthly milk yield records from 70 first, 70 second and 75 third parity Iranian Holstein cows. Indicators of fit were model behavior, statistical evaluation and biologically meaningful parameter estimates and lactation features. Analysis of variance with equation, parity and their interaction as factors and with cows as replicates was performed to compare goodness of fit of the equations. The interaction of equation and parity was not significant for any statistics, which showed that there vas no tendency For one equation to fit a given parity better than other equations. Although model behaviour analysis showed better performance of growth functions than the Wood and Dijkstra equations in filling the individual lactation curves, statistical evaluation revealed that there was no significant difference between file goodness of fit of the different equations. Evaluation of lactation features showed that the Dijkstra equation was able to estimate the initial milk yield and peak yield more accurately than the other equations. Overall evaluation of the different equations demonstrated the potential of the differentials of simple empirical growth functions used in file Current study as equations for fitting monthly milk records of Holstein dairy cattle
