Expanding the distribution of product sales to souvenir outlets around Cianjur Regency is a challenge for business partners. Especially if the partner's products do not have selling value because they do not have a brand name, uninteresting packaging, and have no PIRT permit. Moreover, the limitation of the partner is in utilizing technology to support operations and marketing. In community development activity, we have the opportunity to assist partners to increase the attractiveness and selling value of products so that their products can be accepted at souvenir outlets around Ciputri and Cianjur Villages. In addition, we help partners to enhance thier capabilities in technical knowledge and use of technology for operational and promotion. The results of this activity are the product has a brand name and product labels, the creation of innovative, attractive, and nowadays packaging, obtaining PIRT certificates, and finally can sell and diplay the product in the famous souvenir outlets in Cianjur. Besides, increasing partner skills in the use of technology for purchasing production materials and marketing. After the community development activities and mentoring period are over, it is expected to provide benefits for partners to independently expand product distribution to souvenir shops around Cianjur so that they can increase sales and the economy of partner families. Besides, partners can independently use e-commerce and social media as a means of promotion and sales

Mucormycosis in the nasal cavity of a canary (Serinus canaria) caused by Lichtheimia corymbifera

A canary (Serinus canaria) that was presented for consultation due to alterations in its beak and slight deterioration in its general condition, revealed during clinical examination the presence of a large rhinolith in the left nasal opening, which also had its margins markedly distended due to chronic lysis of its edges. The rhinolith was extracted but the bird died days later. Cytological evaluations and isolation in pure culture were carried out from the extracted rhinolith, all of whom supported the diagnosis of mucormycosis, which was later confirmed by molecular techniques. The product obtained by PCR was subsequently sequenced, resulting in a 98 % homology with Lichteimia corymbifera. Although mucormycosis affecting the nasal cavity has been diagnosed with somefrequency in humans, it is reported for the first time in birds in the present work.Fil: Garijo, S. I.. On the origin of X-ray oxygen emission lines in obscured AGN

We present the Catalogue of High Resolution Spectra of Obscured Sources (CHRESOS) from the XMM-Newton Science Archive. It comprises the emission-line luminosities of H- and He-like transitions from C to Si, and the Fe 3C and Fe 3G L-shell ones. Here, we concentrate on the soft X-ray OVII (f) and OVIII Ly alpha emission lines to shed light on to the physical processes with which their formation can be related to active galactic nucleus (AGN) versus star-forming regions. We compare their luminosity with that of two other important oxygen key lines [O III]lambda 5007 angstrom, in the optical, and [O IV] 25.89 mu m, in the infrared (IR). We also test OVII (f) and OVIII Ly alpha luminosities against that of continuum bands in the IR and hard X-rays, which point to different ionization processes. We probe into those processes by analysing photoionization and collisional ionization model predictions upon our lines. We show that both scenarios can explain the formation and observed intensities of OVII (f) and OVIII Ly alpha. By analysing the relationships between OVII (f) and OVIII Ly alpha, and all other observables: [OIII]lambda 5007 angstrom, [O IV] 25.89 mu m emission lines, and mid-infrared (MIR) 12 mu m, far-infrared (FIR) 60 and 100 mu m, 2-10 and 14-195 keV continuum bands, we conclude that the AGN radiation field is mainly responsible of the soft X-ray oxygen excitation

Síndrome de despoblamiento de colmenas: estudio de caso en la provincia de Buenos Aires

    Get PDF

Revisiting the Evolution and Function of NIP2 Paralogues in the <i>Rhynchosporium</i> Spp. Complex

    Get PDF
The fungus Rhynchosporium commune, the causal agent of barley scald disease, contains a paralogous effector gene family called Necrosis-Inducing Protein 2 (NIP2) and NIP2-like protein (NLP). However, the function and full genomic context of these paralogues remain uncharacterised. Here we present a highly contiguous long-read assembly of a newly isolated Australian strain, R. commune WAI453, that is virulent on multiple barley cultivars. Using this assembly, we show that the duplication of the NIP2 and NLP gene families is distributed throughout the genome and pre-dates the speciation of R. commune from other species in the Rhynchosporium genus. Some NIP2 paralogues have subsequently been lost or are absent in these closely related species. The diversity of these paralogues was examined from R. commune global populations and their expression was analysed during in planta and in vitro growth to evaluate the importance of these genes during infection. The majority of NIP2 and NLP paralogues in the WAI453 genome were significantly upregulated during plant infection suggesting that the NIP2 and NLP genes harbour virulence roles. An attempt to further characterise the function of NIP2.1 by infiltrating purified protein into barley leaves did not induce necrosis, questioning its previously reported role as an inducer of host cell death. Together these results suggest that the NIP2 effector family does play a role during infection of barley; however, the exact function of NIP2, like many effectors, remains uncharacterised.</p

Blood Distribution of SARS-CoV-2 Lipid Nanoparticle mRNA Vaccine in Humans

Lipid nanoparticle mRNA vaccines are an exciting but emerging technology used in humans. There is limited understanding of the factors that influence their biodistribution and immunogenicity. Antibodies to poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), which is on the surface of the lipid nanoparticle, are detectable in humans and boosted by human mRNA vaccination. We hypothesized that PEG-specific antibodies could increase the clearance of mRNA vaccines. To test this, we developed methods to quantify both the vaccine mRNA and ionizable lipid in frequent serial blood samples from 19 subjects receiving Moderna SPIKEVAX mRNA booster immunization. Both the vaccine mRNA and ionizable lipid peaked in blood 1-2 days post vaccination (median peak level 0.19 and 3.22 ng mL-1, respectively). The vaccine mRNA was detectable and quantifiable up to 14-15 days postvaccination in 37% of subjects. We measured the proportion of vaccine mRNA that was relatively intact in blood over time and found that the decay kinetics of the intact mRNA and ionizable lipid were identical, suggesting the intact lipid nanoparticle recirculates in blood. However, the decay rates of mRNA and ionizable lipids did not correlate with baseline levels of PEG-specific antibodies. Interestingly, the magnitude of mRNA and ionizable lipid detected in blood did correlate with the boost in the level of PEG antibodies. Furthermore, the ability of a subject’s monocytes to phagocytose lipid nanoparticles was inversely related to the rise in PEG antibodies. This suggests that the circulation of mRNA lipid nanoparticles into the blood and their clearance by phagocytes influence the PEG immunogenicity of the mRNA vaccines. Overall, this work defines the pharmacokinetics of lipid nanoparticle mRNA vaccine components in human blood after intramuscular injection and the factors that influence these processes. These insights should be valuable in improving the future safety and efficacy of lipid nanoparticle mRNA vaccines and therapeutics
