Factorized ground state for a general class of ferrimagnets

We have found the exact (factorized) ground state of a general class of ferrimagnets in the presence of a magnetic field which covers the frustrated, anisotropic and long range interactions for arbitrary dimensional space. In particular cases, our model represents the bond-alternating, ferromagnet-antiferromagnet and also homogeneous spin ss model. The factorized ground state is a product of single particle kets on a bipartite lattice composed of two different spins (ρ,σ\rho, \sigma). The spin waves analysis around the exact ground state show two branch of excitations which is the origin of two dynamics of the model. The signature of these dynamics is addressed as a peak and a broaden bump in the specific heat.Comment: 4 pages and 2 figures, some typos correcte

Optical quenching and recovery of photoconductivity in single-crystal diamond

We study the photocurrent induced by pulsed-light illumination (pulse duration is several nanoseconds) of single-crystal diamond containing nitrogen impurities. Application of additional continuous-wave light of the same wavelength quenches pulsed photocurrent. Characterization of the optically quenched photocurrent and its recovery is important for the development of diamond based electronics and sensing

__Abstract__ Policy Brief Pathways to Success Mei 2013 Eindrapportage van het Pathways to Success project.

Which executive functioning deficits are associated with AD/HD, ODD/CD and comorbid AD/HD+ODD/CD?

Item does not contain fulltextThis study investigated (1) whether attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD) is associated with executive functioning (EF) deficits while controlling for oppositional defiant disorder/conduct disorder (ODD/CD), (2) whether ODD/CD is associated with EF deficits while controlling for AD/HD, and (3)~whether a combination of AD/HD and ODD/CD is associated with EF deficits (and the possibility that there is no association between EF deficits and AD/HD or ODD/CD in isolation). Subjects were 99~children ages 6–12 years. Three putative domains of EF were investigated using well-validated tests: verbal fluency, working memory, and planning. Independent of ODD/CD, AD/HD was associated with deficits in planning and working memory, but not in verbal fluency. Only teacher rated AD/HD, but not parent rated AD/HD, significantly contributed to the prediction of EF task performance. No EF deficits were associated with ODD/CD. The presence of comorbid AD/HD accounts for the EF deficits in children with comorbid AD/HD+ODD/CD. These results suggest that EF deficits are unique to AD/HD and support the model proposed by R. A. Barkley (1997).17 p

Background We evaluated the pathological complete response (pCR) rate after neoadjuvant epirubicin, (E) cyclophosphamide (C) and docetaxel containing chemotherapy with and without the addition of bevacizumab in patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Patients and methods Patients with untreated cT1c-4d TNBC represented a stratified subset of the 1948 participants of the HER2-negative part of the GeparQuinto trial. Patients were randomized to receive four cycles EC (90/600 mg/m2; q3w) followed by four cycles docetaxel (100 mg/m2; q3w) each with or without bevacizumab (15 mg/kg; q3w) added to chemotherapy. Results TNBC patients were randomized to chemotherapy without (n = 340) or with bevacizumab (n = 323). pCR (ypT0 ypN0, primary end point) rates were 27.9% without and 39.3% with bevacizumab (P = 0.003). According to other pCR definitions, the addition of bevacizumab increased the pCR rate from 30.9% to 41.8% (ypT0 ypN0/+; P = 0.004), 36.2% to 46.4% (ypT0/is ypN0/+; P = 0.009) and 32.9% to 43.3% (ypT0/is ypN0; P = 0.007). Bevacizumab treatment [OR 1.73, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.23-2.42; P = 0.002], lower tumor stage (OR 2.38, 95% CI 1.24-4.54; P = 0.009) and grade 3 tumors (OR 1.68, 95% CI 1.14-2.48; P = 0.009) were confirmed as independent predictors of higher pCR in multivariate logistic regression analysis. Conclusions The addition of bevacizumab to chemotherapy in TNBC significantly increases pCR rate

Quranic-Intellectual Recitation of the Truth of the Religion Perfection, Considering the Necessity of Internal and External Compatibility of the Third Verse of Surah Ma'idah, along with a Critique of Sunni Views

    Get PDF
The perfection verse (third verse of Surah Ma'idah) is one of the most important verses of the Qur'an in the guardianship and Imamate discussion, in which the sects generally refer to the following interpretive narrations in explaining it while there is a lot of controversies. Shiite narrations consider the verse revelation on the day of Ghadir and about the guardianship of Imam Ali (PBUH), but the Sunnis deny this.  In this article, for the first time, by categorizing the views of the Sunnis and considering the necessity of internal compatibility of the content of the verse and external compatibility with other verses and the intellectual necessities and without quoting narrations, is proven that the perfection of religion is possible only with Imamate and Wilayah with a novel style; and this is the Shiite vote. This research easily refuted all the possibilities mentioned in Sunni sources by the mentioned method and without the need to enter into the usual disputes in the interpretation of the verse. Recognize the time of verse revelation and proving the scope and territory of the Imamate and the Imam’s conditions are other results of this research

The interviews with descendants of immigrants concern the role that social actors played during their educational and professional pathways. Interview material from the research projects Pathways to Success Project and the international ELITES project (ERC grant 284223) were used for four qualitative studies. Two studies concern 86 interviews with educationally upwardly mobile descendants of immigrants from Turkey and Morocco, born and currently living in the Netherlands. The interviews were conducted during 2011 and 2012. The interview material was analysed concerning the role that social capital (parents, siblings, extended relatives, peers and teachers) played in the educational pathways of the social climbers. One of these studies also concerned the support which the upwardly mobile gave to children within their environment of family, friends and acquaintances. The interviews used for the other two studies were conducted between 2012 and 2014. These studies concerned the role of social capital (primarily co-students, professors, colleagues and supervisors) in the career mobility of descendants of immigrants from Turkey. For one study interviews with 26 lawyers who practice corporate law and reside in Stockholm, Paris and Frankfurt were analysed. For the last study eight interviews with senior managers and executives of corporate businesses working in the field of professional business services in the Netherlands were used
