Structural properties in Sr0.61a0.39Nb2O6 in the temperature range 10 K to 500 K investigated by high-resolution neutron powder diffraction and specific heat measurements
We report high-resolution neutron powder diffraction on Sr0.61Ba0.39Nb2O6,
SBN61, in the temperature range 15-500 K. The results indicate that the
low-temperature anomalies (T<100K) observed in the dielectric dispersion are
due to small changes in the incommensurate modulation of the NbO6-octahedra, as
no structural phase transition of the average structure was observed. This
interpretation is supported by specific heat measurements, which show no latent
heat, but a glass-like behavior at low temperatures. Furthermore we find that
the structural changes connected with the ferroelectric phase transition at Tc
approx. 350K start already at 200K, explaining the anisotropic thermal
expansion in the temperature range 200-300K observed in a recent x-ray

Dimensional reduction by pressure in the magnetic framework material CuF(DO)pyz: from spin-wave to spinon excitations
Metal organic magnets have enormous potential to host a variety of electronic
and magnetic phases that originate from a strong interplay between the spin,
orbital and lattice degrees of freedom. We control this interplay in the
quantum magnet CuF(DO)pyz by using high pressure to drive the
system through a structural and magnetic phase transition. Using neutron
scattering, we show that the low pressure state, which hosts a two-dimensional
square lattice with spin-wave excitations and a dominant exchange coupling of
0.89 meV, transforms at high pressure into a one-dimensional spin-chain
hallmarked by a spinon continuum and a reduced exchange interaction of 0.43
meV. This direct microscopic observation of a magnetic dimensional crossover as
a function of pressure opens up new possibilities for studying the evolution of
fractionalised excitations in low dimensional quantum magnets and eventually
pressure-controlled metal--insulator transitions
Classical generalized constant coupling model for geometrically frustrated antiferromagnets
A generalized constant coupling approximation for classical geometrically
frustrated antiferromagnets is presented. Starting from a frustrated unit we
introduce the interactions with the surrounding units in terms of an internal
effective field which is fixed by a self consistency condition. Results for the
magnetic susceptibility and specific heat are compared with Monte Carlo data
for the classical Heisenberg model for the pyrochlore and kagome lattices. The
predictions for the susceptibility are found to be essentially exact, and the
corresponding predictions for the specific heat are found to be in very good
agreement with the Monte Carlo results.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, 2 columns. Discussion about the zero T value of

Effect of noise on coupled chaotic systems
Effect of noise in inducing order on various chaotically evolving systems is
reviewed, with special emphasis on systems consisting of coupled chaotic
elements. In many situations it is observed that the uncoupled elements when
driven by identical noise, show synchronization phenomena where chaotic
trajectories exponentially converge towards a single noisy trajectory,
independent of the initial conditions. In a random neural network, with
infinite range coupling, chaos is suppressed due to noise and the system
evolves towards a fixed point. Spatiotemporal stochastic resonance phenomenon
has been observed in a square array of coupled threshold devices where a
temporal characteristic of the system resonates at a given noise strength. In a
chaotically evolving coupled map lattice with logistic map as local dynamics
and driven by identical noise at each site, we report that the number of
structures (a structure is a group of neighbouring lattice sites for whom
values of the variable follow certain predefined pattern) follow a power-law
decay with the length of the structure. An interesting phenomenon, which we
call stochastic coherence, is also reported in which the abundance and
lifetimes of these structures show characteristic peaks at some intermediate

Behind the stiff upper lip: war narratives of older men with dementia.
The concept of the stiff upper lip stands as a cultural metaphor for the repression and figurative ¿biting back¿ of traumatic experience, particularly in military contexts. For men born in the first half of the 20th century, maintaining a stiff upper lip involved the ability to exert high levels of cognitive control over the subjective, visceral and emotional domains of experience. In the most common forms of dementia, which affect at least one in five men now in their 80s and 90s, this cognitive control is increasingly lost. One result is that, with the onset of dementia, men who have in the intervening years maintained a relative silence about their wartime experiences begin to disclose detailed memories of such events, in some cases for the first time. This article draws on narrative biographical data from three men with late-onset dementia who make extensive reference to their experience of war. The narratives of Sid, Leonard and Nelson are used to explore aspects of collective memory of the two World Wars, and the socially constructed masculinities imposed on men who grew up and came of age during those decades. The findings show that in spite of their difficulties with short term memory, people with dementia can contribute rich data to cultural studies research. Some aspects of the narratives discussed here may also be considered to work along the line of the counter-hegemonic, offering insights into lived experiences of war that have been elided in popular culture in the post-War years

Antibiotic Switch therapy is defined by the switch of intravenous antibiotic therapy to oral form. This research aimed to learn about the relationship of switch therapy toward the value of wound healing, lenght of stay and the antibiotic expenditure. The data of this cross sectional study was collected from medical record and by direct investigation to patients for their macroscopis the wound healings value. T-test was used to compared the relationship of the patient wound healings value, lenght of stay and the antibiotic expenditure between the those with and accurate switch therapy and those without it. The result showed that there was no different of wound healing value between those groups of patients (P>0,1). On the other hand, lenght of stay and antibiotic expenditure of the patient with the accurate switch therapy was cuted on the patient with the accurate switch therapy. These indicated that accuracy of switch therapy will proceed a benefit outcome to the patient with appendicitis, especially to there lenght of stay and antibiotic expenditure as well
Filmes utilitários, amadores, órfãos e efémeros: repensando o cinema a partir dos “outros filmes”
Os estudos de cinema têm vindo a construir-se em torno do filme de ficção, dentro de um paradigma predominantemente estético, autoral e nacional. Apesar de constituírem a maior parte da produção mundial, os filmes de não-ficção – uma categoria alargada, de metragem variada, que inclui diferentes géneros – têm sido marginalizados ou excluídos das várias histórias e historiografias do cinema, nacionais e internacionais. Esta introdução ao dossier “Outros Filmes”, começa por delinear o surgimento, na década de 1990, dentro e fora da academia, de perspectivas críticas que permitiram a valorização destes filmes e, por conseguinte, o seu estudo. É tendo em conta este contexto internacional que se apresenta um breve balanço do panorama português e brasileiro. O objectivo do dossier, a partir dos seus 6 artigos (a maior parte dos quais sobre o filme amador e o filme de actualidades), é lançar as bases para uma discussão mais vasta sobre o modo como os “outros filmes” podem (devem?) levar-nos a repensar os estudos de cinema e das imagens em movimento.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Search for vector-boson resonances decaying into a top quark and a bottom quark using pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
A search for a new massive charged gauge boson, W′, is performed with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The dataset used in this analysis was collected from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb−1. The reconstructed tb invariant mass is used to search for a W′ boson decaying into a top quark and a bottom quark. The result is interpreted in terms of a W′ boson with purely right-handed or left-handed chirality in a mass range of 0.5–6 TeV. Different values for the coupling of the W′ boson to the top and bottom quarks are considered, taking into account interference with single-top-quark production in the s-channel. No significant deviation from the background prediction is observed. The results are expressed as upper limits on the W′ → tb production cross-section times branching ratio as a function of the W′-boson mass and in the plane of the coupling vs the W′-boson mass
Search for excited τ-leptons and leptoquarks in the final state with τ-leptons and jets in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV
A search is reported for excited τ-leptons and leptoquarks in events with two hadronically decaying τ-leptons and two or more jets. The search uses proton-proton (pp) collision data at √s = 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment during the Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider in 2015–2018. The total integrated luminosity is 139 fb−1. The excited τ-lepton is assumed to be produced and to decay via a four-fermion contact interaction into an ordinary τ-lepton and a quark-antiquark pair. The leptoquarks are assumed to be produced in pairs via the strong interaction, and each leptoquark is assumed to couple to a charm or lighter quark and a τ-lepton. No excess over the background prediction is observed. Excited τ-leptons with masses below 2.8 TeV are excluded at 95% CL in scenarios with the contact interaction scale Λ set to 10 TeV. At the extreme limit of model validity where Λ is set equal to the excited τ-lepton mass, excited τ-leptons with masses below 4.6 TeV are excluded. Leptoquarks with masses below 1.3 TeV are excluded at 95% CL if their branching ratio to a charm quark and a τ-lepton equals 1. The analysis does not exploit flavour-tagging in the signal region
