Post-grooming furunculose bij een hond
A five-year-old, intact, male labrador retriever was presented on emergency with general complaints of fever, lethargy and anorexia. During clinical examination, very painful skin lesions were noticed dorsally on the neck and back, and there was also a clear left apical systolic murmur with a degree of 4/6. On histopathological examination of the lesional skin, there was rupture of the follicle wall surrounded with a pronounced suppurative inflammation. The dog was diagnosed with post-grooming furunculosis and mitral valve endocardiosis ACVIM stage B2. Culture of the lesional skin and the shampoo used to wash the dog prior to the onset of the skin lesions revealed the presence of the same bacteria, evidencing a clear link between the bathing and development of the skin lesions

Evidential Communities for Complex Networks
Community detection is of great importance for understand-ing graph structure
in social networks. The communities in real-world networks are often
overlapped, i.e. some nodes may be a member of multiple clusters. How to
uncover the overlapping communities/clusters in a complex network is a general
problem in data mining of network data sets. In this paper, a novel algorithm
to identify overlapping communi-ties in complex networks by a combination of an
evidential modularity function, a spectral mapping method and evidential
c-means clustering is devised. Experimental results indicate that this
detection approach can take advantage of the theory of belief functions, and
preforms good both at detecting community structure and determining the
appropri-ate number of clusters. Moreover, the credal partition obtained by the
proposed method could give us a deeper insight into the graph structure
What determines the suspension of budget support?
Although Budget Support (BS) was not designed to push political reform in recipient countries, donors have nonetheless used it to sanction democratic regress. An econometric analysis of all BS suspensions by bilateral donors in the period 2000–11 finds that suspensions effectively do reflect downward tendencies in voice and accountability, and in level of democratic functioning. The larger the in-country BS donor group, the more suspensions. Interestingly, ideological alignment between donor and recipient and aid dependence decrease the likelihood for suspensions, while domestic donor economic growth increases it; and multilateral suspensions have the largest positive effect of all

Two cases of feline pyothorax : medical versus surgical treatment and associated challenges
Pyothorax is a rare disease in cats. Underlying causes and treatment recommendations vary greatly between cases. In this case series, the management of two challenging cases of feline pyothorax is discussed. In the first case, a nine-year-old female spayed European shorthair cat with pyothorax caused by Bacteroides fragilis is described. At the time of presentation, she was diagnosed with feline immunodeficiency virus as well. The pyothorax was succesfully managed medically. Unfortunately, the cat relapsed after three months and the owner elected euthanasia. The second case involved a ten-year-old male castrated British shorthair cat with identification of filamentous bacteria on pleural fluid cytology. This cat underwent surgical intervention because thoracic drainage was very difficult. Eventually, he recovered well and did not relapse up to two months postoperatively. The challenges in the decision process and treatment complications are discussed
