    Corrective Feedback and Repair Strategies in Meaning-focused Language Classroom

    The practice of corrective feedback in communicative language classroom has become a debate among applied linguists. Some consider it obstructs students' fluent speech and some assert it is vital to show students their linguistic gaps. This study aims to describe the practice of oral corrective feedback in meaning-focused instruction specifically to answer the questions 1) what is to correct, 2) how it is corrected, and 3) how repair is constructed. The data are in the forms of teacher's and students' utterances obtained through video recording during meaning-focused instruction in a secondary school. The result shows that in meaning-focused instruction, the ESL teacher mainly corrects semantic errors and among six types of corrective feedback (explicit correction, recast, clarification request, metalinguistic feedback, elicitation, and repetition), the teacher mostly uses elicitation and recast while the repair strategies that occur in this class takes the pattern of other initiation-self repair. So, it can be concluded that in a meaning-focused instruction the teacher does not relatively interrupt the students' fluent speech and that the communicative activity is maintained. And with self-repair, students notice their linguistic gaps. Therefore corrective feedback is still worth practicing in meaning-focused language classrooms

    Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskribsikan adversity quotient mahasiswa pemrogram skripsi. Adversity Quotient merupakan intelejensi khusus yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menghadapi kesulitan yang dihadapi. Kesulitan mahasiswa yang berhubungan dengan kuliah dapat berupa menyelesaikan tugas yang diberikan dosen, mengerjakan ujian, termasuk menyelesaikan skripsi. Skripsi adalah termasuk salah satu mata kuliah wajib, sehingga setiap mahasiswa harus memprogram dan menyelesaikannya. Sehingga dibutuhkan keuletan untuk dapat menyelesaikan skripsi. Ketahanan ini diperlukan mahasiswa utuk menghadapi kesulitan dan tantangan dalam pelaksaanaan penulisan skripsi. Mahasiswa diberi anugerah Tuhan Yang Maha Kuasa berupa tingkat ketahanan yang berbeda. Tingkat ketahanan dalam menghadapi kesulitan dapat diukur dengan Adversity Response Profile (ARP). Skor AQ dapat digunakan sebagai acuan bagaimana seorang mahasiswa merespon kesulitan yang dihadapi. Mahasiswa dapat dikelompokkan ke dalam kategori quitter, camper, dan climber. Berdasarkan hasil ARP diperoleh bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa menempati kategori peralihan camper. The problem could be an assigment that is given by lecturer, an examination, and also a thesis. Thesis is one of main subject that has to be programmed by the student. In order to finish the thesis, the student need to be endure. Each student has been given by God with different endurance. The level of endurance in facing the problem can be measured using Adversity Response Profile (ARP). AQ's score can be used as a reference in how student respons the problem. Based on this AQ's score, the student can be classified into three groups i.e. quitter, camper, and climber. The result of ARP shows that the majority of students are in the transition to camper.     The Effect of Rekattidiri Ovitrap Towards Aedes Aegypti Larval Density

    Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a health problem in Indonesia. The entire region of Indonesia at risk of contracting dengue disease. The study aims to prove the effect of modifications ovitrap rekattidiri on the density of larvae (HI: House Index, CI: Container Index and BI: Breteu Index) as well as comparing the differences between the mean larvae trapped between ovitrap Rekattidiri with standard ovitrap. Using a quasi experimental design, time series experimental design with Control group. Population subjects were Aedes aegypti at the endemic sites in Pontianak, West Borneo. The results showed larval density index in the intervention area decreased each ie HI from 26% to 3%, CI of 6.95% to 2.19 %, and BI from 29% to 13%. The number of larvae trapped in ovitrap rekattidiri ie 70% (12,770 larvae) more than the standard ovitrap in the control and intervention, namely: 17% (3,057 larvae) and 13% (2,334 larvae). It is concluded that there are significant modifications Rekattidiri ovitrap against larval density index (HI p-value: 0.025, CI p-value: 0.052, BI value of p: 0.04) and there are differences between the mean larvae trapped in ovitrap Rekattidiri and standard ovitrap with p value: 0.001

    : The purpose of this research is to know direct influence of reading habit, critical thinking ability, and syntax structure mastery on students\u27 scientific writing skill. This research applied survey method with path analytical technique. Research population was students at the Indonesian literature and language education department, faculty of education and teaching Science University of Bengkulu in 2009/2010 academic year. Sample was selected with quota technique. Data collection was done by using questionnaire and test techniques. Result of research concluded that (1) reading habit has positive direct influence on students\u27 scientific writing skill; (2) the critical thinking ability has positive direct influence on students\u27 scientific writing skill; (3) the Indonesian syntax structure mastery has direct positive influence on students\u27 scientific writing skill; (4) the habit reading has direct positive influence on mastery of Indonesian syntax structure; and (5) the critical thinking ability has direct positive influence on the Indonesian syntax structure mastery

    Performance Model of Nurse Community Approach to Organizational Culture in Indonesia

    National problem faced by Indonesia today is the handling of the low quality of Human Resources (HR). HR issues that need attention is the issue of performance. Performance is the rate of success in carrying out the task, as well as the ability to achieve the goals set. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of individual factors, organizational factors, organizational and cultural factors on the Performance of Nurses. This study used a cross sectional study approach. The population used in this study were nurses ponkesdes Tuban and Lamongan district in accordance with the inclusion criteria as much as 55, with a sample size of 48 respondents specified research using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable in this study is the individual factors (abilities and skills), organizational cultural factors and organizational factors, dependent variable is the performance of nurse ponkesdes. Instruments used in the collection of data in the form of questionnaires and performance evaluation sheet. Research analysis using simple linear regression test. Simple linear regression analysis showed variable organizational cultural factors were not statistically significant effect on the performance of the p-value (0.000), organizational factors also significantly influence the performance of the pvalue (0.027). While the variable factors of individual (skills and abilities) does not significantly influence the performance of the p-value (0.103)
