Jamun (Syzygium cumini) fruit was utilized for the production of red wine which is offering a lot of health benefits by acting as an effective medicine. The alcohol content of wine varied from 6.62 to 10.25 depending upon the variable concentration of total soluble sugars (7.88 to 10.53%) and varying levels of yeast (5, 10, 15 and 20%). Saccharomyces cerevisiae was used in the process of fermentation. The wine that had 8.22% alcohol obtained by fermentation with 10% yeast level, 8.18% TSS (Treatment T2) was considered to be the best acceptable when compared with others (T1, T3 and T4 Treatments). This wine was found to be the best by the panel members with respect to colour, taste, astringency and flavour. The wine that had 6.62% alcohol obtained by fermentation with 5% yeast level, 7.88% TSS was considered to be the least preferred and less acceptable when compared with others. No significant changes were observed in colour and clarity of wine obtained with 5% addition of yeast. However, with 5% addition of yeast, the taste, flavor and astringency attributes of wine were the least preferred when compared with others. The highest test score for taste, flavour and astringency properties was obtained for Treatment (T2). The time required for fermentation was 7 days at 28 ± 20C. The wine obtained with 15% (9.16% alcohol content) and 20% (10.25% alcohol content) yeast levels were found to have moderately acceptable scores

Primary beam effects of radio astronomy antennas -- II. Modelling the MeerKAT L-band beam

After a decade of design and construction, South Africa's SKA-MID precursor MeerKAT has begun its science operations. To make full use of the widefield capability of the array, it is imperative that we have an accurate model of the primary beam of its antennas. We have taken available L-band full-polarization 'astro-holographic' observations of three antennas and a generic electromagnetic simulation and created sparse representations of the beams using principal components and Zernike polynomials. The spectral behaviour of the spatial coefficients has been modelled using discrete cosine transform. We have provided the Zernike-based model over a diameter of 10 deg averaged over the beams of three antennas in an associated software tool (EIDOS) that can be useful in direction-dependent calibration and imaging. The model is more accurate for the diagonal elements of the beam Jones matrix and at lower frequencies. As we get more accurate beam measurements and simulations in the future, especially for the cross-polarization patterns, our pipeline can be used to create more accurate sparse representations of MeerKAT beams.Comment: 16 pages, 18 figures. Garbhini paricharya is advised for preventing harm to mother and fetus, to attain full fetal maturity and for normal uneventful labour. By keeping this goal in mind the Upakrama of Niruha basti and Anuvasana basti was selected. 100 patients were selected for this study and divided into two groups. In Control Group, there are 50 patients with Standard management (iron+ calcium) with routine diet during pregnancy. In Trial Group, there are 50 patients with Standard management (iron+ calcium) along with Garbhini paricharya. The clinical study was done for evaluation of efficacy of antenatal management in Ayurveda during 8th & 9th month of pregnancy. Bala taila is highly effective to bring about spontaneous labour onset at optimal time. Duration of labour was reduced by Bala siddha taila basti due to its regulation of Prasuti Marut. Maternal and foetal complications during ante natal and post natal period are reduced due to Bala siddha taila Anuvasan basti, Niruha basti and due to high quality nutritive supplementation (Mudga & Masha Yavagu). Maternal as well as fetal weight gain was good due to high quality nutritive supplementation as described in Ayurvedic texts, and it provides optimal nutrition of mother and fetus. The Ayurvedic regimen has promise of providing the optimal and balanced nutrition by using quality ingredients

Stanpeeda (Mastalgia) is a commonly occurred breast pain that a female suffers from during her lifetime. Approximately two-thirds of women develop this pain during their reproductive life and may seek medical attention when it adversely affects their daily life. The breast pain may vary from mild to severe, could be intermittent or constant. According to Ayurveda, Stanpeeda can be correlated with Mastalgia. The objectives are to study of Stanpeeda with reference to cyclic mastalgia and to study the effect of Nisha kanak kalka lepa in Stanpeeda for 7 days, when cyclic mastalgia occurs. The study was conducted at Stree Rog prasuti tantra department, Hon. Shri. Annasaheb Dange Ayurved Medical College, Post Graduate & Research Center, Sangli, Maharashtra. Total number of 60 patients of 18-35 years age group having Stanapeeda were selected and treated with Nisha Kanak Kalka lepa. In this study the importance of Nisha (Rhizome of Haridra) and Kanak (Dhatura patra) and its possible action on each symptom was explained. Out of 60 patients studied, 21 patients (35%) showed marked improvement, 36 patients (60%) showed moderate improvement while 3 patients (5%) were mildly improved. Hence Nisha and Kanak Kalka lepa had significant result in Stana Peeda

Optimizing Churn Identification in Telecommunications Using Natural Language Processing and XG Boost Machine Learning Paradigm

With the increasing competition in the telecom sector, accurate churn prediction has become indispensable for service providers seeking to retain customers. This research paper introduces a novel approach that combines Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) and specifically leveraging the XGBoost algorithm, to enhance the precision and efficiency of churn prediction in the telecom industry. The integration of NLP enables the extraction of meaningful insights from diverse data sources, while XGBoost, a powerful gradient boosting algorithm, is employed to build a robust predictive model for identifying potential churners. A machine learning method called the XGBoost churn prediction model is utilized in the telecom industry to forecast client churn. To construct a predictive model that can precisely identify consumers prone to churn, XGBoost is essentially an ensemble method based on gradient-enhanced trees. Several telecom carriers have used this model to understand their consumers better and identify issues that can contribute to churn. It has been used to predict churn in the telecom sector accurately. The model has been tested for accuracy and effectiveness in identifying factors and forecasting customer attrition. These evaluations' findings indicate that the XGBoost model is a trustworthy and precise method for forecasting customer attrition in the telecom industry

Revival of the magnetar PSR J1622-4950: observations with MeerKAT, Parkes, XMM-Newton, Swift, Chandra, and NuSTAR

New radio (MeerKAT and Parkes) and X-ray (XMM-Newton, Swift, Chandra, and NuSTAR) observations of PSR J1622-4950 indicate that the magnetar, in a quiescent state since at least early 2015, reactivated between 2017 March 19 and April 5. The radio flux density, while variable, is approximately 100x larger than during its dormant state. The X-ray flux one month after reactivation was at least 800x larger than during quiescence, and has been decaying exponentially on a 111+/-19 day timescale. This high-flux state, together with a radio-derived rotational ephemeris, enabled for the first time the detection of X-ray pulsations for this magnetar. At 5%, the 0.3-6 keV pulsed fraction is comparable to the smallest observed for magnetars. The overall pulsar geometry inferred from polarized radio emission appears to be broadly consistent with that determined 6-8 years earlier. However, rotating vector model fits suggest that we are now seeing radio emission from a different location in the magnetosphere than previously. This indicates a novel way in which radio emission from magnetars can differ from that of ordinary pulsars. The torque on the neutron star is varying rapidly and unsteadily, as is common for magnetars following outburst, having changed by a factor of 7 within six months of reactivation.Comment: Published in ApJ (2018 April 5); 13 pages, 4 figure

Initial Virologic Response and HIV Drug Resistance Among HIV-Infected Individuals Initiating First-line Antiretroviral Therapy at 2 Clinics in Chennai and Mumbai, India

    Get PDF
Human immunodeficiency virus drug resistance (HIVDR) in cohorts of patients initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) at clinics in Chennai and Mumbai, India, was assessed following World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. Twelve months after ART initiation, 75% and 64.6% of participants at the Chennai and Mumbai clinics, respectively, achieved viral load suppression of <1000 copies/mL (HIVDR prevention). HIVDR at initiation of ART (P <.05) and 12-month CD4 cell counts <200 cells/μL (P <.05) were associated with HIVDR at 12 months. HIVDR prevention exceeded WHO guidelines (≥70%) at the Chennai clinic but was below the target in Mumbai due to high rates of loss to follow-up. Findings highlight the need for defaulter tracing and scale-up of routine viral load testing to identify patients failing first-line AR
