    Spectroscopic properties of coumarin laser dye mixtures

    635-644Absorption, fluorescence and phosphorescence characteristics have been studied for a series of coumarin laser dye mixtures in methanol and polyelectrolyte (poly(methacrylic acid, PMMA) based water media. Relative fluorescence quantum yields, stokes shifts. Singlet triplet difference are obtained from spectral data. A novel technique, synchronous excitation fluorescence spectroscopy (SY) is used to identify the individual components in dye mixtures for the first time. In SY, the dye components are spectrally separated with a convenience to control the intensity and peak maxima as well. Analysis of fluorescence spectra of the dye mixtures revealed that the binding of dye to PMAA at pH 4.0 favors efficient fluorescence enhancement of C30 dye in C2+C30 mixture. The factors which have a hearing in the study of lasing characteristics of dye mixtures of coumarins are presented
