Measurements of the Top Quark Mass at D0

We present measurements of the top quark mass based on 3.6 fb^-1 of data collected by the D0 experiment during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We present results in the dilepton and lepton+jets final states. We also present the measurement of the mass difference between t and tbar quarks observed in lepton+jets final states of ttbar events in 1 fb^-1 of data.Comment: Proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Supersymmetry and the Unification of Fundamental Interactions (SUSY09

Covenant, Kingship, Grace, Sacrifice, and Prophetism in the Old Testament

    Get PDF
This essay examines the major themes of covenant, kingship, grace, sacrifice, and prophetism that reoccur throughout the Old Testament and contribute to a proper understanding of the ancient biblical text. Through covenant, God reveals his divine nature and relates to his people. Through kingship, God reveals his plan for Israel. Through grace, God loves his chosen people and shows them mercy, and through sacrifice, God cleanses and sanctifies the Israelites. Finally, through prophetism, God discloses his divine calling for the Israelites. Each of these themes exposes God’s self-revelation and contributes to an enhanced understanding of the Old Testament

Kennedy Retirement Plunges Supreme Court into Politics. Here\u27s How to Turn Down the Heat.

Justice Anthony Kennedy’s decision to retire from the Supreme Court could create a sea change in the court’s jurisprudence for years to come. The debate about his successor will once again underscore the fierce partisan politics that surround the court. It’s worth recalling that the constitutional framers originally envisioned a Supreme Court that was insulated from such politics. In fact, Alexander Hamilton argued quite famously, in Federalist No. 78, that the court must be protected from the electorate in order to serve as a check against the political branches of government without fear of reprisals at the ballot box. Estimating Nonresponse Bias in Mail Surveys

    Get PDF
Valid predictions for the direction of nonresponse bias were obtained from subjective estimates and extrapolations in an analysis of mail survey data from published studies. For estimates of the magnitude of bias, the use of extrapolations led to substantial improvements over a strategy of not using extrapolations
