    Noise-induced synchronization for phase turbulence

Phase turbulence is suppressed by applying common noise additively to the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky type equation, and the noise-induced phase synchronization is realized. The noise strength necessary for the suppression of phase turbulence is evaluated theoretically.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

Self-organization of hierarchical structures in nonlocally coupled replicator models

We study a simple replicator model with non-symmetric and nonlocal interactions. Hierarchical structures with prey-predator relations are self-organized from a homogeneous state, induced by the dynamical instability of nonlinear interactions.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure

Systematic study of high pTp_{\rm T} hadron production in small collision systems by the PHENIX experiment at RHIC

    Get PDF
High pTp_{\rm T} hadrons in the small systems of d/3d/^3He+Au and pp+Al/Au collisions have been measured at the midrapidity (η<0.35|\eta|<0.35) as well as at the forward and backward rapidities (1.2<η<2.41.2<|\eta|<2.4) at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200GeV. A clear system and centrality ordering in the Rp/d/HeAR_{p/d/{\rm HeA}} was observed for midrapidity π0\pi^0 production. Hadron RcpR_{\rm cp} as a function of rapidity in forward and backward regions show an opposite trend to what HIJING++ predicted. Together with the difference of RcpR_{\rm cp} in pp+Al/Au collisions, the observation can be understood consistently with the measured long-range two-particle correlations, hinting the possible medium creation similar to A+A collisions.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures, proceedings for the XLVII International Symposium on Multiparticle Dynamics (ISMD2017), Sep 11-15, 2017, in Tlaxcala city, Mexic

Profiling hot and dense nuclear medium with high transverse momentum hadrons produced in d+Au and Au+Au collisions by the PHENIX experiment at RHIC

PHENIX measurements of high transverse momentum (pTp_T) identified hadrons in dd+Au and Au+Au collisions are presented. The nuclear modification factors (RdAR_{d{\rm A}} and RAAR_{\rm AA}) for π0\pi^0 and η\eta are found to be very consistent in both collision systems, respectively. Using large amount of p+pp+p and Au+Au datasets, the fractional momentum loss (SlossS_{\rm loss}) and the path-length dependent yield of π0\pi^0 in Au+Au collisions are obtained. The hadron spectra in the most central dd+Au and the most peripheral Au+Au collisions are studied. The spectra shapes are found to be similar in both systems, but the yield is suppressed in the most peripheral Au+Au collisions.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, talk presented at the International Nuclear Physics Conference 2013, held in Florence, Italy, on June 2 - 7, 201

Photon and dilepton production in high energy heavy ion collisions

The recent results on direct photons and dileptons in high energy heavy ion collisions, obtained particularly at RHIC and LHC are reviewed. The results are new not only in terms of the probes, but also in terms of the precision. We will discuss the physics learned from the results.Comment: Extended discussion after receiving comments from referee. 14 pages, 15 figures. Photon production in sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV Au+Au collisions measured by the PHENIX experiment at RHIC

Direct photon production in Au+Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV has been measured in the pTp_T range of 1<<pTp_T<<5 GeV/cc. The yield as acfunction of centrality is in agreement with published data of the RHIC 2002 run, and with results from a new method that explores very low mass dileptons. The result is compared to several theoretical calculations, and it is found that the measurement is not inconsistent with calculations including thermal photon contributions.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures. (p,q)-strings and New Spacetime Superalgebras

    Get PDF
We present a geometric formulation of (p,q)(p,q)-strings in which the Sl(2;Z)Sl(2;Z)-doublet of the two-form gauge potentials is constructed as second order in the supersymmetric currents. The currents are constructed using a supergroup manifold corresponding to the (p,q)(p,q)-string superalgebra, which contains fermionic generators in addition to the supercharges and transforms under the Sl(2;Z)Sl(2;Z). The properties of the superalgebra and the generalizations to higher pp-branes are discussed.Comment: 12 pages. LaTex. comments and references added, the version published in JHE
