    Pengembangan Modul Pengajaran Menulis Berbasis Facebook

    ABSTRAK Dalam pengajaran menulis, dosen harus memfasilitasi instruksi pengajaran mereka dengan materi- materi dan media yang baik yang dapat memotivasi mahasiswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis mereka. Meskipun, terkadang dosen menghadapi kesulitan- kesulitan untuk menemukan materi yang sesuai yang berhubungan dengan kegiatan- kegiatan yang akan mereka lakukan di kelas. Facebook dapat menjadi sebuah media yang baik untuk mengatasi kesulitan dalam kelas menulis ini karena kita dapat menggunakannya di manapun dan kapanpun. Facebook sebagai salah satu media yang dapat mahasiswa gunakan untuk mengakses materi dan tugas dengan mudah. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengatasi kesulitan- kesulitan tersebut dengan fokus pada pengembangan modul pembelajaran menulis berbasis Facebook dengan lima pertanyaan penelitian, yaitu: (1) Apa kebutuhan mahasiswa dalam belajar menulis melalui Facebook?; (2) Apa materi yang tepat untuk pengajaran menulis untuk memenuhi kebutuhan mahasiswa berbasis Facebook?; (3) Bagaimana mengembangkan materi untuk pengajaran menulis melalui Facebook?; (4) Apa persepsi mahasiswa dan dosen terahadap penggunaan Facebook dalam pengembangan modul pengajaran menulis?; dan (5) Apakah materi menulis berbasis Facebook meningkatkan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa? Dalam menemukan tujuan tersebut, peneliti menerapkan desain Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R & D) dengan memadukan metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris kampus STKIP Muhammadiyah Rappang. Subjek Penelitiannya yaitu dosen dan mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Tahun akademik 2015-2016. Subjek ahli juga dilibatkan untuk memvalidasi produk. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, kajian literatur dan hasil dari angket yang dibagikan. Desain model instruksi yang digunakan untuk mengembangkan materi instruksional menulis berbasis Facebook ini mengadaptasi model ADDIE. Penelitian ini terdiri dari lima tahap yaitu, menganalisis, merancang, mengembangkan, menggunakan dan mengevaluasi. Data yang diperoleh dari tahap- tahap ini dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Berdasarkan analisis, peneliti menemukan bahwa (1) kebutuhan mahasiswa akan materi yang didesain untuk pengajaran menulis harus mempunyai karakteristik sebagai berikut: (a) materinya interaktif, dapat dikerjakan sendiri, mudah digunakan, didukung jaringan, sosial media, autentik, ramah lingkungan, lingkungan resmi dan tidak resmi, evaluasi dalam jaringan, (b) materinya harus tampak secara visual, (c) materinya harus mendukung dan memfasilitasi aktivitas akademik dan non-akademik mahasiswa, (d) topik materinya harus menarik dan memuat budaya mahasiswa, (e) materinya terdiri dari kosakata, teks bacaan, tata bahasa dan kemampuan dasar dalam proses menulis, (f) materinya harus diterapkan di tingkatan dasar (menulis 1), (g) materinya bisa diterapkan di dalam dan di luar kelas, (h) materinya berkonteks internasional/ global; (2) Model materi pengajaran menulis berbasis Facebook untuk pengembangan kemampuan menulis didesain berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan, kurikulum, dan kondisi. Materi ini terdiri dari lima aktivitas pembelajaran yaitu: membaca, kosakata, tata bahasa, kemampuan menulis dan tugas menulis. Bentuk awal dari model ini dilakukan dan dikembangkan menggunakan kelompok Facebook; (3) Materi pengajaran berbasis Facebook yang dikembangkan berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan dan diskusi dosen untuk memenuhi kebutuhan mahasiswa. Materi ini memenuhi kriteria penerimaan pakar/ ahli karena hasil validasi ahli dengan tingkat validasi tinggi sesuai dengan hasil angket yang diberikan; (4) Materi pengajaran berbasis Facebook ini juga memenuhi kriteria penerimaan bagi mahasiswa dan dosen. Ini dibuktikan dengan hasil persepsi mahasiswa dan dosen. Nilai angket berada pada kataegori baik atau persepsi positif berdasarkan skala Likert; (5) Materi pengajaran menulis berbasis Facebook adalah media yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris semester dua di STKIP Muhammadiyah Rappang. Ini terlihat pada perubahan yang baik dari nilai rata-rata tes awal (65.3) menjadi (78.05) pada nilai rata-rata tes akhir yang mengindikasi bahwa materi pengajaran menulis berbasis Facebook membantu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis mahasiswa. Ini juga dibuktikan dengan nilai test-t yaitu 6.04 lebih tinggi dari nilai tabel-t (2.093)

    Students' Perception on Social Media in Writing Class at STKIP Muhammadiyah Rappang, Indonesia

    Abstract: Almost all students use social media but few lecturers use it in their teaching process. This study examines students' perceptions of the use of social media in the process of teaching English in STKIP Rappang Muhammadiyah, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This study was conducted using a mixed method, including quantitative and qualitative data Data were collected using a questionnaire that collected background information of participants, a four-point Likert scale to gauge the students' perceived use of social media in class. and open-ended questions to gather more data rich in the beliefs, attitudes, wishes and concerns of students regarding the use of social media in the writing classroom. Findings from this study indicate that the majority of students showed a positive attitude toward and a willingness to use social media in the writing classroom However, factors such as large classes, lack of training on the use of the Internet, and the lack of facilities could be possible barriers to the use of social media in the classroo

    FACEBOOK-BASED WRITING INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL IN ENGLISH CLASS: LECTURERS’ PERCEPTION

    The study attempted to explore lecturers’ perceptions on the use of Facebook-based writing material in English class at STKIP Muhammadiyah Rappang, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The present study was a part of research and development (R&D). There were two writing lecturers of the English Education Department in 2016/ 2017 as the subject of the study. The data gained from the questionnaires of the lecturers’ perception on the implementation of Facebook-based instructional material in English writing class using the Likert scale. The scoring system was done positive and negative statement score. The data have been analysed descriptively by using the frequency and percentage. It aimed to measure the lecturers’ opinion. To interpret the lecturers’ responds, the researchers used the interval estimation. The interval estimation was applied to measure the parameter of population based on the score of interval rates which ranged to 4 categories level. The results found that the lecturers agree that the content of learning English writing by using Facebook-based instructional materials are suitable for the students’ level, their need for learning and their daily lives. The average score of lecturers’ perceptions is 3.4 which indicates that from the four components of the product (content, language, presentation and graphic) overall shows suitability to the writing English material and to the students. It means that the implementation of Facebook-based instruction in teaching writing is interesting for the lecturers. It was proved by the results of the lecturers’ perceptio

    The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of the implementation of verbal response learning model to the speaking ability students of Class X Madrasah Aliyah PP DDI As-Salman Allakuang Sidenreng Rappang Regency. This research was conducted in Madrasah Aliyah PP DDI As-Salman Allakuang Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The research method used quantitative method. The subject of the research is the students of class X Madrasah Aliyah PP DDI As-Salman Allakuang Sidenreng Rappang Regency academic year 2016/2017. The data collection technique used a test with two stages of data retrieval, the first test to determine the speaking ability before the students were given treatment (pretest) and the second stage to determine students' speaking ability after being given treatment (posttest). Results based on db of 52 converted to t-table at the 5% significance level obtained the price of 1.671. Criteria of submission are if t-test ≥ t-tabel then Ha accepted and Ho rejected, otherwise if t-test ≤ t-table then Ha rejected and Ho accepted. It turns out that t-test is magnitude 2.33 more than t-table, hence alternative hypothesis accepted and null hypothesis rejected. Based on these results it can be concluded that the application of verbal response learning model significantly affects the speaking ability of grade X Madrasah Aliyah PP DDI As-Salman Allakuang of Sidenreng Rappang Regency

    Students' Perceptions on The Use of Mind Mapping Technique in Writing Class

    The use of mind mapping in the EFL classroom especially in writing class is imperative to fill the educational needs of the younger generation. There are few studies conducted on students’ perceptions of using mind mapping to learn the writing English language. The objective of this research was to investigate the students’ perceptions on the use of mind mapping in learning writing English process at junior high school, MTsN 2 Makassar, Indonesia. Data were collected using a questionnaire that collected a five-point Likert scale to gauge the students’ perception use of the mind mapping in writing EFL classroom. Findings from this research indicate that the majority of students showed a strongly positive category according to the range of students’ perception score. Therefore, the students have strongly positive attitude to use mind mapping in their writing skills.     Learning Strategies in English Skills used by Good Language Learners in Millennial Era: A Positive Case Study in Universitas Negeri Makassar

    This article is another part of the research results conducted with the aim of developing a theory of learning English as a foreign language. The other part has been reported in the article entitled Information Technology Used by Good Language Learners in Millennial Era in Solid State Technology Volume 3 Issue 5.           Theory development is carried out by utilizing best practice as a data source. The research question is "What English learning strategies are used by high achievers in the millennial era?". The main questions are translated into 4 (four) questions based on 4 types of language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Research subjects were selected based on academic achievement. Subjects were students of the 4th semester of English Department with 20% of the best academic achievement. The selected subjects were 40 students from the English Education Study Program and the English Literature Study Program. They were called as good language learners in Universitas Negeri Makassar.           The instrument used to collect data was a list of open questions consisting of 12 questions. The list of questions was distributed from March to May 2020 via google form to the WhatsApp account number of the research subjects. The collected verbal data were analyzed by using coding.           The results of the study contain descriptions of the types of strategies used by research subjects in improving English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. This description also includes the length of time used to improve the four types of English skills.The result shows that, (1) the millennial good language learners’ use a number of language learning strategies to improve their four types of language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This information is beneficial for ELT teachers, learners, and further researchers for formulating post pandemic language pedagogy

    Students’ Attitude Toward the Use of Google Classroom in Writing Activity

    The purpose of this research was to know the students’ attitudes toward the use of google classroom in a writing activity. This research used mixed-method research. The researcher chose class XI MIPA 4 of senior high school 1 Samaturu, Kolaka. The instruments of this research were questionnaires and interviews. The result of this research revealed that the students’ attitudes were generally positive toward the use of google classroom in a writing activity. It is supported by the data obtained based on the three aspects of attitude. Cognitive (60%), affective (77,3%), and behavioral (77,3%) aspects of attitude were positive. The researcher also found there are two factors that hinder the students in writing descriptive texts assigned through google classroom, they are: poor internet connection and being lazy. While the supporting factors are four, they are: the display and the feature of google classroom, good internet connection, google classroom is flexible, and a study partner. In addition, there are three strategies used by the students in writing descriptive text, they are planning, drafting, and editing. Further, in writing descriptive text assignments, there are two challenges founded by the students assigned through google classroom, they are deadline and vocabulary
