The Influence of Anton Chekhov on Samuel Beckett: Inaction and Investment of Hope Into Godot-like Figures in Three Sisters and Waiting for Godot
Anton Chekhov has been very much influential on modern drama, especially on the Theatre of the Absurd; however, not much work has been done on his influence on the absurdist playwrights. Considering Harold Bloom's definition of ‘influence'—writing “much like” someone in the past—the seminal influence of Chekhov on Beckett is studied in this article. Chekhov in his plays, especially his major plays, very much like Beckett's waiting for Godot, portrays people who are passively waiting and investing their entire hope into Godot-like figures without taking any action. Thus, the sense of ennui, desperation and consequently disappointment of these characters originates from their unreasonable inaction, stagnancy and their passivity while waiting, rather than ‘waiting for Godot figures'. Evaluation of removal efficiency of phenol from synthetic aqueous solutions by Citrullus colocynthis seed ash
Background: Phenol is a prevalent pollutant found in many industrial wastewaters, and it is paid
singular attention because of its special features like high toxicity, carcinogenic properties, and vital
gathering ability that affects the health of humans and the environment. One of the most important
technologies for the removal of phenol is the use of adsorbents. The current study investigated the
removal of phenol from synthetic aqueous solutions using Citrullus colocynthis seed ash.
Methods: This study is experimental and was conducted on a pilot scale. The efficiency of phenol
removal by C. colocynthis seed ash was evaluated in a batch system, and different parameters such as
initial concentration of phenol (10, 20, 50, and 80 mg/L), contact time (2, 5, 10, and 30 minutes), pH
(2-12), adsorbent dose (0.5, 1, 3, 5, and 10 g/L), and temperature were studied. Excel software was used
for data analysis. The adsorption process was modeled with Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms at
controlled temperatures.
Results: The results showed that the highest removal rate of phenol was obtained at a pH of 2 (83.4%),
initial phenol concentration of 20 ppm (66.4%), adsorbent dose of 5 g/L (86.8%), and contact time of 10
minutes. The evaluation of correlation coefficients showed that the phenol adsorbed by C. colocynthis
seed ash was in greater accordance with the Freundlich model than the Langmuir model.
Conclusion: In general, the results of this study revealed that C. colocynthis seed ash has suitable
potential for use in removing phenol from aqueous solutions on operation and practical scales due to
its low cost and easy access.

The role of GlcNAc-PI-de-N-acetylase gene by gene knockout through homologous recombination and its consequences on survival, growth and infectivity of Leishmania major in in vitro and in vivo conditions
At present, there are no efficacious vaccines or effective drugs against leishmaniasis; therefore new and
innovative control methods are urgently required. One way to achieve this important goal is through using
reverse genetic engineering to evaluate important enzymes, proteins and macromolecules. One of the
most important enzymes for Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) biosynthetic pathways is GlcNAc-PI-deN-acetylase (GPI12). The molecular constructs were cloned in Escherichia coli strain Top 10 and confirmed
by molecular methods and were transfected by electroporation into Leishmania major. We demonstrated
that two alleles of the GPI12 gene in L. major were successfully removed and enabling the generation of
a null mutant, which supports the idea that GPI12 is not an essential gene for the growth and survival of
Leishmania and the homozygous knockouts of Leishmania are able to survive. We were able to produce
a mutant parasite that caused no damaged to the host. Further investigations are essential to check the
safety profile in laboratory animal

Objective:
To determine the impact of distinctive instrumentation systems of the root canals on the endotoxin lessening through the root canals

Material and Methods:
From the electronic databases, MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, ISI, Google Scholar have been used to perform a systematic literature review between 2015 and 2020. Therefore, a software program (Endnote X9) has been utilized for managing electronic titles. Searches were performed with keywords, “root canal,” “instrumentation,” "endotoxin,” "root canal preparation,” “biofilm” “endodontics,” and “lipopolysaccharide.” This systematic review has been conducted on the basis of the key consideration of the PRISMA Statement-Preferred Reporting Items for the Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Results:
Hence, 163 potentially important abstracts and research topics have been discovered by electronic searches and three studies (3 RCTs) have been included. According to the outputs, any statistically significant differences have been not found between the rotary files and reciprocation (SMD 0.51, 95% CI [0.11, 0.90], p=0.011) (I2 = 49.5%; p=0.138)

Conclusion:

Effect of the Bone Graft on the Surface Microhardness of Endodontic Biomaterials
Introduction: During periapical surgery, using of bone products in large endodontic lesions, is a treatment option that could affect the properties of the retro-filling endodontic material. The aim of present study was to evaluate the effect of Osteon II bone powder on the surface microhardness of calcium-enriched mixture (CEM) and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). Methods and Materials: Each material was mixed and carried into 40 sterile custom-made plastic cylinders. Half of the samples in each group were exposed to Osteon II. All cylinders were submerged in simulated tissue fluid and incubated at 37°C and 100% relative humidity for 7 days. Surface microhardness values of each study group was attained using Vickers microhardness test. The data were analyzed statistically using two-way ANOVA and independent t-test at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The highest and lowest microhardness values were recorded in the MTA/without Osteon and MTA/with Osteon groups, respectively. Irrespective of the presence or absence of bone powder, the overall microhardness of CEM cement and MTA was not significantly different. In the MTA group, the presence of the powder resulted in a significant decrease (P<0.05) of the microhardness; however, its effect on CEM cement was not significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: Under the limitations of the present in vitro study, the presence of Osteon bone powder had no negative effect on the microhardness of CEM cement, contrary to its effect on MTA.Keywords: Bone Graft; Calcium-enriched Mixture; Hardness; Mineral Trioxide Aggregat
Synthesis of silver nanocatalyst in presence of poly(ethylene glycol) and its application for electrocatalytic reduction of hydrogen peroxide
The synthesis of powdered Ag nanoparticles in presence of poly(ethylene glycol) as reducing agent and stabilizer in aqueous medium is reported. The structure and properties of the Ag nanoparticles have been characterised by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray data. XRD study shows that the particles are crystalline in nature with face centered cubic geometry. Formation of stable silver nanoparticles gives mostly spherical particles with diameter in the range of 12–30 nm. The catalytic activity of the nanocrystalline AgNPs, for the reduction of hydrogen peroxide has been studied at the surface of glassy carbon electrode modified with Ag nanoparticles and poly(methyl methacrylate) (AgNPs-PMMA/GCE) prepared by casting of the AgNPs-PMMA solution on GCE. The sensor responds to H2O2 with high selectivity, good reproducibility and stability, over a linear range of 22–1700 µM with a detection limit of 4.8 µM using amperometry.
