A note on AdS cosmology and gauge theory correlator
Using AdS/CFT prescription, we compute two point Yang-Mills correlator on a
constant time slice for the Kasner background. Pushing the surface close to the
initial singularity, we find, in some cases, the correlator does not develop
pole. This is consistent with the observations made in a recent work. We
further numerically calculate similar correlator where the bulk is a Kasner AdS
soliton. We find that the qualitative behaviour of the correlator remains
unchanged.Comment: 17 pages, 2 figures, journal versio
Role of horizontal incidence in the occurrence and control of chaos in an eco-epidemiological system
A predator-prey model with disease in the prey population is proposed and analysed. The mode of disease transmission plays an important role in such dynamics. Keeping this factor in mind, we observe the dynamics of such a system for simple mass action incidence and standard incidence. Our observations indicate that the phenomenon of rarity or non-occurrence of chaos in our proposed model is well defined if the mode of disease transmission follows standard incidence. Moreover, using the method of Latin hypercube sampling, we show that the region of stability increases if the disease transmission follows the standard incidence law
Variability in the secretion of corticotropin-releasing hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol and understandability of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis dynamics-a mathematical study based on clinical evidence
In this article, we have developed a simple mathematical model that captures the vital mechanisms of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis self-regulatory activities. For this, a system of three-component non-linear delay differential equations has been proposed and analysed to observe the ultradian and circadian variabilities of the hormone secretion of the HPA axis in normal subjects. Our analysis reveals that a feedback mechanism is sufficient to show the ultradian variability of the hormone secretion pattern but fails to show the circadian variability. A central nervous system-driven pulse generator coupled with the primary feedback mechanism can exhibit the ultradian as well as circadian variability in the hormone secretion of the HPA axis. The model can also predict different dynamics of the normal HPA axis following physiological changes (viz. adrenalectomy and hypophysectomy) and pathological changes (viz. infusion of different hormones)
Aggregation of toxin producing phytoplankton acts as a defense mechanism-- a model based study
Multi-Layer Network PageRank for Critical Infrastructure Analysis
The article record as published may be found at https://www.hsaj.org/articles/23189In this document, we will detail a novel methodology for determining critical infrastructure within an infrastructure network based on a multi-layer version of the PageRank algorithm. We include all pertinent background and technical definitions to describe the mathematical framework employed. We describe an experimental design towards assessing the value of resource allocations in critical infrastructure networks towards the prevention of cascading network failures. We further include a description of use-case data (Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) All Hazards Analysis (AHA)) suitable to test our techniques. We include some summary results of our proposed experiments on the AHA data
