Relationship between the national universities commission resource allocation parameters used in allocating funds to teaching and learning and research and development and the outcomes of federal universities in Nigeria

The National Universities Commission Resource Allocation Parameters were developed by the National Universities Commission (NUC), for the allocation of funds to all the federal universities in Nigeria. However, the outcomes of the universities in their core tasks of teaching and research have left much to be desired, considering the volume of funds allocated to them annually. The funding parameters were described as input driven and does not therefore consider the outcomes of the federal universities, especially in their core tasks of teaching and research. The basic aim of this study, therefore, was to examine the relationship between the NUC funding parameters with the outcomes of the federal universities in Nigeria. A mixed mode design was adopted by the study where qualitative data was first collected, analyzed and then, together with relevant literatures, used to develop a survey instrument for the quantitative phase of the study. The study surveyed 209 senior management staff of the federal universities in Nigeria, and the results were analyzed using the IBM SPSS for Windows and SEM-PLS3. Factor analysis was conducted to identify the number of factors for the study, from where the measurement and structural models were built to identify the relationship between the funding parameters and the outcomes of the federal universities. The findings revealed that there is a positive and a statistically significant relationship between academic support, academic facilities and academic research with the teaching outcomes of the federal universities, while only academic support and academic facilities showed a similar relationship with research outcomes. The study has thus been able to fill the knowledge gaps that exists in the relationship between the funding parameters used in allocating funds to teaching and research with the outcomes of the federal universities in Nigeria

El presente trabajo de investigación titulado PRINCIPALES PATOLOGIAS GINECO OBSTETRICAS EN PACIENTES ATENDIDAS EN EL SERVICIO DE EMERGENCIA GINECO OBSTETRICA DEL HRHVM HUANUCO ABRIL- SETIEMBRE 2016, tuvo como problema planteado ¿Cuáles son las principales patologías gineco obstétricas en pacientes atendidas en el servicio de emergencia gineco obstétrica del Hospital Regional Hermilio Valdizan Medrano de Huánuco y se realizó teniendo como objetivo general Determinar cuáles son las principales patologías gineco obstétricas en pacientes atendidas en el servicio de emergencia gineco obstétrica, fue un estudio de tipo descriptivo, retrospectivo y transversal, con una muestra de 1280 pacientes; obteniendo como resultado lo siguiente: la edad promedio que más prevaleció en el grupo de estudio fue el de las edades de 20 a 24 años con un porcentaje del 28% con un total de 352 pacientes en cuanto al estado civil, encontramos en el estudio que la media estuvo entre las convivientes con el 54% con un total de 690 pacientes. En relación al grado de instrucción que la que más incidencia tuvo el de nivel secundario con el 57%, con un total de 694 pacientes, en lo que respecta a la procedencia la moda se encuentra en las que son de la zona rural con el 61%, y con 782 pacientes, Referente a la religión que profesan las pacientes en estudio, el mayor porcentaje con el 49% se encontró en la religión católica con 593 pacientes, según la ocupación fueron las amas de casa con el 69%, teniendo un número de 882 pacientes, al tipo de paciente atendida se evidencia que hubo más pacientes obstétricas, representando el 96% con 1226 pacientes atendidas, De acuerdo al tratamiento que recibieron las pacientes en el servicio el 80% fueron hospitalizadas haciendo un número de 1022, dentro de las emergencias ginecológicas del total de pacientes atendidas, el mayor porcentaje de pacientes fueron las que presentaron HUD con el 2% con 25 pacientes, Las patologías que más prevalecieron en la atención de las emergencias gineco obstétricas durante el período de estudio, fueron las pacientes que presentaron Trabajo de parto( a término y pre término), 333 pacientes, Cesareada anterior en T de P 301, aborto incompleto 260, pre eclampsia leve 60, amenaza de aborto 56 Que el mayor porcentaje de pacientes atendidas en la emergencia gineco obstétrica estuvo en pacientes referida de los diferentes establecimiento de salud del departamento de Huánuco, con el 69% haciendo un total de 882 pacientes mientras que las no referidas solo llegaron al 31%, con 398 pacientes atendidas, y finalmente las pacientes atendidas que presentaron las complicaciones fueron en su mayoría por causas obstétricas maternas con el 96% con 1179 casos.Tesi
