Solving procedure for a twenty-five diagonal coefficient matrix: direct numerical solutions of the three dimensional linear Fokker-Planck equation
We describe an implicit procedure for solving linear equation systems
resulting from the discretization of the three dimensional (seven variables)
linear Fokker-Planck equation. The discretization of the Fokker-Planck equation
is performed using a twenty-five point molecule that leads to a coefficient
matrix with equal number of diagonals. The method is an extension of Stone's
implicit procedure, includes a vast class of collision terms and can be applied
to stationary or non stationary problems with different discretizations in
time. Test calculations and comparisons with other methods are presented in two
stationary examples, including an astrophysical application for the
Miyamoto-Nagai disk potential for a typical galaxy.Comment: 20 pages, RevTex, no proofreading, accepted in Journal of

The influence of the preparation methods on the inclusion of model drugs in a β-cyclodextrin cavity
NOTICE: this is the author’s version of a work that was accepted for publication in European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics. Changes resulting from the publishing process, such as peer review, editing, corrections, structural formatting, and other quality control mechanisms may not be reflected in this document. Changes may have been made to this work since it was submitted for publication. A definitive version was subsequently published in Eur J Pharm Biopharm. 2009 Feb;71(2):377-386. Epub 2008 Oct 17.The work aims to prove the complexation of two model drugs (ibuprofen, IB and indomethacin, IN) by bcyclodextrin
(bCD), and the effect of water in such a process, and makes a comparison of their complexation
yields. Two methods were considered: kneading of a binary mixture of the drug, bCD, and inclusion
of either IB or IN in aqueous solutions of bCD. In the latter method water was removed by air stream,
spray-drying and freeze-drying. To prove the formation of complexes in final products, optical microscopy,
UV spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, DSC, X-ray and NMR were considered. Each powder was added
to an acidic solution (pH = 2) to quantify the concentration of the drug inside bCD cavity. Other media
(pH = 5 and 7) were used to prove the existence of drug not complexed in each powder, as the drugs solubility
increases with the pH. It was observed that complexation occurred in all powders, and that the
fraction of drug inside the bCD did not depend neither on the method of complexation nor on the
processes of drying considered

The Use of Learning Analytics Interactive Dashboards in Serious Games: A Review of the Literature
The learning analytics in serious games, corresponds to a subject in increasing demand in the educational field. In this context, there is a need to study how data visualizations found in the literature are adopted in learning analytics in serious games. This paper presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on how the evolution of studies associated with the use of learning analytics interactive dashboards in serious games is processed, seeking to investigate the characteristics of using dashboards for viewing educational data. A bibliometric analysis was carried out in which 75 relevant studies were selected from the Scopus, Web of Science, and IEEExplore databases. From the data analysis, it was observed that in the current literature there is a reduced number of studies containing the main actors in the learning process, as follows: teachers/instructors, students/participants, game developers/designers, and managers/researchers. In the vast majority of investigated studies, data visualization algorithms are used, where the main focus takes into account only actors, such as teachers/instructors and students/participants
OGLE-2005-BLG-018: Characterization of Full Physical and Orbital Parameters of a Gravitational Binary Lens
We present the analysis result of a gravitational binary-lensing event
OGLE-2005-BLG-018. The light curve of the event is characterized by 2 adjacent
strong features and a single weak feature separated from the strong features.
The light curve exhibits noticeable deviations from the best-fit model based on
standard binary parameters. To explain the deviation, we test models including
various higher-order effects of the motions of the observer, source, and lens.
From this, we find that it is necessary to account for the orbital motion of
the lens in describing the light curve. From modeling of the light curve
considering the parallax effect and Keplerian orbital motion, we are able to
measure not only the physical parameters but also a complete orbital solution
of the lens system. It is found that the event was produced by a binary lens
located in the Galactic bulge with a distance kpc from the Earth.
The individual lens components with masses and are separated with a semi-major axis of AU and
orbiting each other with a period yr. The event demonstrates
that it is possible to extract detailed information about binary lens systems
from well-resolved lensing light curves.Comment: 19 pages, 6 figure
