The text, based on the analysis of handwritten annotations, proposes some hypotheses on the use of the various exemplars of Carta de logu incunabulum. The study also show how the difference between the volumes of Cagliari and Turin are caused by changes occurred in the 19th century.

The aim of this thesis is that of contributing to improve the knowledge of the cultural history of Sardinia, with a particular focus on book circulation during a time of great intellectual, political and social change, such as the end of the XV and VI Century. Through the analysis of notary deeds, and particularly post mortem inventories, the first part of the study has reconstructed the structure and content of sixty-two private libraries, ten belonging to Church representatives, seven to lawyers, four to doctors or other categories related to public health, ten to women, seven to aricstocratic families and seven to other categories. The total number of volumes in this census exceeds 5000 units, while the different authors come up to almost 1260. In a number of cases the analysis conducted has allowed the investigator to outline brief biographical profiles, reconstructing family and professional relations as well as to bring to light the cultural context whereby Sardinian society evolved in those years. The second part of the dissertation has been devoted to the editorial production of the city of Cagliari between 1566 and 1600, with an emphasis on technical aspects of the typographic processes as well as on the circulation of the editions produced. Starting from 190 items and from archival sources, 86 editions have been described, 68 of which of secure identification and 18 for which ownership is probable or possible, two loose papers, which still today represents the only prove of draft printing

The study focuses on trade networks in Sardinia in the second half of the 15th century; in particular, after providing an overview of the sources and the state of the art, the analysis moves on the mercantile exchanges in the inland areas of Sardinia is addressed. Starting from a series of data it is possible to indicate the presence of active trades and merchants in the rural and productive centres of the island who, more or less regularly, acted as intermediaries with the other cities

Development of antibacterial neural stimulation electrodes via hierarchical surface restructuring and atomic layer deposition.

Miniaturization and electrochemical performance enhancement of electrodes and microelectrode arrays in emerging long-term implantable neural stimulation devices improves specificity, functionality, and performance of these devices. However, surgical site and post-implantation infections are amongst the most devastating complications after surgical procedures and implantations. Additionally, with the increased use of antibiotics, the threat of antibiotic resistance is significant and is increasingly being recognized as a global problem. Therefore, the need for alternative strategies to eliminate post-implantation infections and reduce antibiotic use has led to the development of medical devices with antibacterial properties. In this work, we report on the development of electrochemically active antibacterial platinum-iridium electrodes targeted for use in neural stimulation and sensing applications. A two-step development process was used. Electrodes were first restructured using femtosecond laser hierarchical surface restructuring. In the second step of the process, atomic layer deposition was utilized to deposit conformal antibacterial copper oxide thin films on the hierarchical surface structure of the electrodes to impart antibacterial properties to the electrodes with minimal impact on electrochemical performance of the electrodes. Morphological, compositional, and structural properties of the electrodes were studied using multiple modalities of microscopy and spectroscopy. Antibacterial properties of the electrodes were also studied, particularly, the killing effect of the hierarchically restructured antibacterial electrodes on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus-two common types of bacteria responsible for implant infections

In conjunction with the papers in RiMe 10/I n.s., in this second Special Issue dedicated to the theme 'Cosmopolitan perspectives on the city: Readings, gazes, practices', we find alternating geographical, historical and anthropological approaches on 'Border communities (Ventimiglia), on forms of 'overlap' and 'interaction' in public spaces (Cagliari), on 'migrant histories', on 'Tunis cosmopolitan and colonial city', on the 'Jewish community of Istanbul', on the 'plural and changing' identity of Odessa and finally a reflection on the 'cosmo-political' city. The themes of cosmopolitanism are discussed through questions of urbanity, public space, the effects of international mobility and political management, as well as the subjectivities of 'communities of communities' or minorities that 'fabricate', shape and animate cities

Following the suggestion proposed by the philosopher Pascal Bruckner in his essay Le vertige de Babel (2000) on the capacities of societies to integrate and mobilise a "plurality of belongings", the project of RiMe Issues 10/I and 10/II n.s. was initiated. The reading of cosmopolitanism proposed here, free from the uncritical praise of a harmonious society, without tensions or conflicts between groups, communities or minorities, should be seen as an investigation and questioning of the social and pragmatic capacities that societies have (or have had) to construct forms of coexistence and inclusion in the identity and cultural complexity of the Mediterranean context. An interdisciplinary research project called “Cosmomed”, which involved some fifteen researchers, including geographers, historians, anthropologists and archivists, preceded the work presented here, and concluded with the international conference "Tracce di Cosmopolitismo intorno al Mediterraneo. Migrazioni, memorie e attualità” held in Cagliari in autumn 2019. (From the Introduction
