Supersymmetric Axion-Neutrino Merger

The recently proposed supersymmetric $A_4$ model of the neutrino mass matrix is modified to merge with a previously proposed axionic solution of the strong CP problem. The resulting model has only one input scale, i.e. that of $A_4$ symmetry breaking, which determines both the seesaw neutrino mass scale and the axion decay constant. Extremely long quasiparticle spin lifetimes in superconducting aluminium using MgO tunnel spin injectors

There has been an intense search in recent years for long-lived spin-polarized carriers for spintronic and quantum-computing devices. Here we report that spin polarized quasi-particles in superconducting aluminum layers have surprisingly long spin-lifetimes, nearly a million times longer than in their normal state. The lifetime is determined from the suppression of the aluminum's superconductivity resulting from the accumulation of spin polarized carriers in the aluminum layer using tunnel spin injectors. A Hanle effect, observed in the presence of small in-plane orthogonal fields, is shown to be quantitatively consistent with the presence of long-lived spin polarized quasi-particles. Our experiments show that the superconducting state can be significantly modified by small electric currents, much smaller than the critical current, which is potentially useful for devices involving superconducting qubits

Moving Backwards: Does the Lack of Duty to Consult Create the Right to Infringe Aboriginal and Treaty Rights?

The federal and provincial governments have a duty to consult Aboriginal people when they propose to authorize development activities that may impact Aboriginal or treaty rights.This article comments on two recent cases addressing the role of third parties, such as municipalities and private businesses, in the duty to consult and accommodate. In Neskonlith Indian Band v Salmon Arm City and Wahgoshig First Nation v Solid Gold Resources Corp, the courts focused on whether the particular entity had a duty to consult. The consequence of finding no duty to consult was that the activity in dispute could proceed. This case commentary argues that the courts conflate who has the duty to consult and whether consultation is necessary before a project can proceed. These are two separate legal issues. Consultation is a condition precedent to proceeding with a project that infringes or potentially infringes Aboriginal rights

GeneRaMeN enables integration, comparison, and meta-Analysis of multiple ranked gene lists to identify consensus, unique, and correlated genes

High-Throughput experiments often produce ranked gene outputs, with forward genetic screening being a notable example. While there are various tools for analyzing individual datasets, those that perform comparative and meta-Analytical examination of such ranked gene lists remain scarce. Here, we introduce Gene Rank Meta Analyzer (GeneRaMeN), an R Shiny tool utilizing rank statistics to facilitate the identification of consensus, unique, and correlated genes across multiple hit lists. We focused on two key topics to showcase GeneRaMeN: virus host factors and cancer dependencies. Using GeneRaMeN \u27Rank Aggregation\u27, we integrated 24 published and new flavivirus genetic screening datasets, including dengue, Japanese encephalitis, and Zika viruses. This meta-Analysis yielded a consensus list of flavivirus host factors, elucidating the significant influence of cell line selection on screening outcomes. Similar analysis on 13 SARS-CoV-2 CRISPR screening datasets highlighted the pivotal role of meta-Analysis in revealing redundant biological pathways exploited by the virus to enter human cells. Such redundancy was further underscored using GeneRaMeN\u27s \u27Rank Correlation\u27, where a strong negative correlation was observed for host factors implicated in one entry pathway versus the alternate route. Utilizing GeneRaMeN\u27s \u27Rank Uniqueness\u27, we analyzed human coronaviruses 229E, OC43, and SARS-CoV-2 datasets, identifying host factors uniquely associated with a defined subset of the screening datasets. Similar analyses were performed on over 1000 Cancer Dependency Map (DepMap) datasets spanning 19 human cancer types to reveal unique cancer vulnerabilities for each organ/tissue. Factors influencing the adoption of e-payment in Kuala Lumpur

This research aims to examine the factors influencing the adoption of e-payment in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in which the independent variables include security, trust, perceived ease of use and government intervention whereas the dependent variable is the adoption of e-payment in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There are three theories adopted in the research which include Technology, Organization and Environment Framework (TOE), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Model of Trust (MOT). Then, in this research, the data and information were collected by using primary research data through a self-administered survey questionnaire approach. The target respondents for this research include the people who are 18 years old and above and who are from Kuala Lumpur who study or work in UTAR Kampar Campus. Furthermore, there are total of 400 sets questionnaires distributed for data collection but only 385 sets of them were being used due to fifteen sets turned out to be invalid. Next, for data analysis, SPSS 25 was used to analyse the recorded raw data and descriptive analysis, factor analysis, reliability test and inferential analysis were applied in this process. The results of SSPS 25 concluded that all the independent variables which comprised of security, trust, perceived ease of use and government intervention are significant towards the adoption of e-payment in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Last, at the end of this research, implications of study to the future researcher, consumers, business, investor and government and policy maker were found out and some limitations and recommendations for future researchers were also discussed in this research
