    Challenges in the social environment landscape: readiness of youth in embracing diversity

    This article discusses the readiness of youth of various races in Malaysia to celebrate diversity in the daily social landscape of society. Youth are at the forefront in facing the challenges of addressing diversity in a multicultural community. The readiness of youth to face diversity is measured using questionnaires. This study involves a total of 600 respondents from secondary schools and higher education institutions. The results showed that generally, the level of respondents’ readiness to accept diversity was high. There were significant differences found in terms of gender, ethnicity and residential locations in which the respondents had their upbringing. The findings were consistent with findings from earlier studies

    Policy fairness in national integration: reactions of the new generation

    This article discusses the reactions of the Malaysian youth regarding fairness of the national policy towards the inculcation of national integration. The extent to which national policy adopted for the sake of social harmony and multi-ethnic youth’s points of view were measured using a survey instrument with alpha value of .831. A total of 600 respondents were involved in this study. Students from secondary schools and higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Klang Valley were selected at random. The study found a positive reaction shown among the youth in Malaysia in relation to the practice of a fair policy towards strengthening national integration. The study also found that respondents' propensity to assess positively or otherwise of fairness in terms of the practice of policy towards national integration had no direct relationship with a number of selected demographic variables studied. In sum, the reaction of the new generation in Malaysia to conduct of public policy needs to be scrutinized by the government so that the objective to strengthen national integration can be achieved

    Human anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body. Tremendous of memorizing and understanding process that involve in order to learn this topic which very challenging for students in form 4 and 5. Currently, at school the only material for learning human anatomy is through textbook. This situation lead to difficulties for students to learn human anatomy because textbook have limited 3D presentation. Therefore, this project is conducted by aim to use augmented reality (AR) technology to reduce the limitation. Augmented reality allows the superimposing of computergenerated images over real scenes in real time. The application will be develop based on the ADDIE model methodology. There are five phases that involve in this project which are Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Each phases contain several activity and deliver. Usability testing will take place at end of this project as an evaluation for knowing how well the application was develop. The result of the evaluation is shown that augmented reality introduced the new technology that suitable for learning human anatomy. Lastly, this project also can give a benefits to future developer that want to develop the augmented reality system

    Hubungan kekerapan komunikasi antara etnik dengan tahap prejudis terhadap etnik lain dalam kalangan pelajar Universiti Putra Malaysia

    Penyelidikan ini dijalankan untuk memahami prejudis dan komunikasi antara etnik dalam kalangan pelajar Universiti Putra Malaysia. Kajian ini secara khusus mengenal pasti tahap prejudis mengikut kumpulan etnik, persepsi pelajar terhadap faktor–faktor terpilih yang berkait dengan prejudis, kekerapan komunikasi antara etnik dalam kalangan pelajar universiti, dan perkaitan di antara kekerapan komunikasi antara etnik dengan tahap prejudis terhadap pelajar kumpulan etnik yang berbeza. Kaedah tinjauan menggunakan borang soalselidik tadbir sendiri digunakan untuk mengumpul data. Seramai 300 orang pelajar ijazah sarjana muda telah dipilih secara sistematik dalam kajian ini. Kajian ini telah dijalankan di Kolej Kediaman 12, 14, 15 dan 16, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Hasil kajian menunjukkan tahap prejudis terhadap kumpulan etnik lain berada di tahap yang baik dan tidak membimbangkan. Prejudis etnik Melayu terhadap Cina dan prejudis etnik Cina terhadap Melayu berada di tahap sederhana. Manakala pelajar etnik Melayu dan Cina masing-masing mempunyai tahap prejudis yang rendah terhadap etnik India, sementara prejudis etnik India terhadap kumpulan etnik lain di tahap yang rendah. Responden bersetuju faktor emosi, kognitif sosial, dominasi sosial dan media massa boleh menyebabkan prejudis terhadap kumpulan etnik lain. Walau bagaimanapun, responden tidak bersetuju faktor etnosentrik boleh menyebabkan prejudis. Komunikasi antara etnik tidak berlaku secara meluas dan kerap dan pelajar terlibat dalam komunikasi antara etnik untuk memenuhi keperluan sebagai pelajar. Perkaitan antara kekerapan komunikasi antara etnik dengan tahap prejudis terhadap etnik lain adalah signifikan bagi kelompok etnik Melayu dan etnik Cina tetapi tidak bagi etnik India. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan semakin kerap pelajar etnik Melayu dan Cina berkomunikasi antara etnik maka semakin kurang prejudis mereka terhadap etnik India. Manakala kekerapan komunikasi pelajar India dengan pelajar Melayu dan Cina tidak mempengaruhi tahap prejudis mereka terhadap dua kumpulan etnik ini

    The Social Innovation Project focuses on developing and implementing innovative solutions to impact students and the community positively. In this module, students are engaged in an interdisciplinary and collaborative setting to identify opportunities in today's global and local environments that create and capture values. The project-based learning activities for this module emphasize situated learning, which deals with authentic and unique real-world issues. Students will be involved in collaborative decision-making and problem-solving as they have to discuss, consult, collaborate, and solve the problem to provide services or create a product for the desired community. After taking this module, students are able to enhance their creativity and instill values, such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, among students through the completion of the group's project.</jats:p
