Language Modeling with Highway LSTM
Language models (LMs) based on Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) have shown good
gains in many automatic speech recognition tasks. In this paper, we extend an
LSTM by adding highway networks inside an LSTM and use the resulting Highway
LSTM (HW-LSTM) model for language modeling. The added highway networks increase
the depth in the time dimension. Since a typical LSTM has two internal states,
a memory cell and a hidden state, we compare various types of HW-LSTM by adding
highway networks onto the memory cell and/or the hidden state. Experimental
results on English broadcast news and conversational telephone speech
recognition show that the proposed HW-LSTM LM improves speech recognition
accuracy on top of a strong LSTM LM baseline. We report 5.1% and 9.9% on the
Switchboard and CallHome subsets of the Hub5 2000 evaluation, which reaches the
best performance numbers reported on these tasks to date.Comment: to appear in 2017 IEEE Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding

Comparison between tap water and kitchen waste water of selected sites of NIT Rourkela
Because of growing concern that constituents of drinking water may have adverse health effect, consumption of tap water has decreased. The main objective of this work is to determine and compare the concentrations of acidity, alkalinity, pH, turbidity, total Solids, chloride,DO,BOD,Ca, Mg, Cu and Fe. The average values of pH, Turbidity, DO, BOD, Total Hardness, Alkalinity, Acidity, Total solids, Chloride, Concentration of Ca, Mg, Fe and Cu are ranges between 5 to 6.62, 1 to 3 NTU, 1.19 to 8.16 mg/l, 2 to 63.5 mg/l, 26 to 472 mg/l, 10.77 to 11.22 p.p.m, 21 to 430 p.p.m, 13.6 to 162.5 mg/l, 8.7 to 15.84 mg/l, 6.38 to 8.87 mg/l, 0.8 to 2.03 mg/l, 0.263 to 0.29 mg/l, respectively
The exchange rate regime in Asia: From crisis to crisis.
Prior to the Asian financial crisis, most Asian exchange rates were de facto pegged to the US Dollar. In the crisis, many economies experienced a brief period of extreme flexibility. A `fear of floating' gave reduced flexibility when the crisis subsided, but flexibility after the crisis was greater than that seen prior to the crisis. Contrary to the idea of a durable Bretton Woods II arrangement, Asia then went on to slowly raise flexibility and reduce the role for the US Dollar. When the period from April 2008 to December 2009 is compared against periods of high in flexibility, from January 1991 to November 1991 and October 1995 to March 1997, the increase in flexibility is economically and statistically significant. This paper proposes a new measure of dollar pegging, the "Bretton Woods II score". We find that by this measure Asia has been slowly moving away from a Bretton Woods II arrangement.Exchange rate regime, Asia, Bretton Woods II hypothesis
Development of computer aided gauss model to study the dispersion of air pollutants
Gaussian plume concept and formula (model) is one example of computational modes in which if and when the exact conditioned specified by parameters occur then Gaussian plume formulas will give fair approximation of the isopleths contours and the orders of magnitude of the concentration be expected. Dispersion co-efficient, pasquill’s stability categories were taken into account and GAUSS MODEL (C++ program) is created to find ground level concentration around RSP. The result obtained is validated with existing records and error is found out. The contours for concentration of various pollutants were drawn. With help of cleanvironment Pvt. Ltd. Field monitoring was done using respirable dust sampler at Kuarmunda area
Synthesis and Characterization of Oxovanadium Complexes Incorporating Bidentate ligand
Two new oxovanadium(V) complexes, [VO(L1I)2(OEt)] and [VO(L2S)2(OEt)] (1-2) have been reported which are obtained from the reaction of the Schiff bases (L1IH1, L2SH1), (Where L1IH1 = isonicotinylhydrazone of benzaldehyde, L2SH1 = salicylalhydrazone of acetophenone) with VO(acac)2 / VOSO4 in 2:1 molar ratio. All the synthesized ligands and the metal complexes are successfully characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis and NMR spectroscopy. This study indicates that both the complex (1 and 2) is monomeric in solid state while complex 2 may have dimeric nature in solution
Implementation of fuzzy logic controller for load frequency control in two area power system
Currently as there has been an increase in the interconnected systems as far as power systems are concerned. Load as well as power flow in tie-line are varying dynamically. So there is a need of robust control of system frequency as well as tie-line power flow system. This robust control could be achieved by the help of fuzzy logic controllers in the place of orthodox system using proportional, PI and PID controllers. This is due to fact that gain constants in the case of conventional controllers remain same throughout, for changes in the load value. But Load can’t be the same throughout, load deviates from time to time. So as to get rid of these disadvantages related to conventional controllers, a lot many schemes have been put forth in literature. With regard to this work, fuzzy logic base controller has been considered for problems pertaining to load frequency control. There queried rules are carried out with respect to the variation in load to diminish the error. In fuzzy logic controller, we take the help of triangular membership function in the formulation of the rule base, because triangular membership function gives easy way to make the rule base compared to other membership functions. Then simulation is done by using Matlab/Simulink software
