Issues and Ramifications in Quantized Fractal Space Time: An Interface with Quantum Superstrings

    Get PDF
Recently a stochastic underpinning for space time has been considered, what may be called Quantized Fractal Space Time. This leads us to a number of very interesting consequences which are testable, and also provides a rationale for several otherwise inexplicable features in Particle Physics and Cosmology. These matters are investigated in the present paper.Comment: 27 pages, TeX, This is from the forthcoming book The Chaotic Univers

Intensity-based Macro-bend Plastic Optical Fiber Sensor using Raspberry Pi Platform

    Get PDF
This paper presents an optical fiber sensor-based instrumentation system to measure the light intensity due to different refractive indices. The proposed sensor system consists of (i) He-Ne Laser as a source (ii) Fiber optic cable (iii) CCD camera to capture the intensity (iv) Raspberry Pi using phyton for processing. The optical fiber is bent into different radius and the intensity is captured every time the fiber is bent by the CCD camera. The Raspberry Pi use the phyton codes to process the captured intensity and plot it in the Gaussian curve. This sensor can be used for sensing the intensity of different solutions with different refractive indexes

Pool stratification and mixing induced by steam injection through spargers: analysis of the PPOOLEX and PANDA experiments

    Get PDF
Spargers are multi-hole injection pipes used in Boiling Water Reactors (BWR) and Advanced Pressurized (AP) reactors to condense steam in large water pools. A steam injection induces heat, momentum and mass sources that depend on the steam injection conditions and can result in thermal stratification or mixing of the pool. Thermal stratification reduces the steam condensation capacity of the pool, increases the pool surface temperature and thus the containment pressure. Development of models with predictive capabilities requires the understanding of basic phenomena that govern the behavior of the complex multi-scale system. The goals of this work are (i) to analyze and interpret the experiments on steam injection into a pool through spargers performed in the large-scale facilities of PPOOLEX and PANDA, and (ii) to discuss possible modelling approaches for the observed phenomena. A scaling approach was developed to address the most important physical phenomena and regimes relevant to prototypic plant conditions. The focus of the tests was on the low steam mass flux and oscillatory bubble condensation regimes, which are expected during a long-term steam injection transient, e.g. in the case of a Station Black Out (SBO). Exploratory tests were also done for chugging and stable jet conditions. The results showed a similar behavior in PPOOLEX and PANDA in terms of jet induced by steam condensation, pool stratification, and development of hot layer and erosion of the cold one. A correlation using the Richardson number is proposed to model the erosion rate of the cold layer as a function of the pool dimensions and steam injection conditions.Post-print / Final draf

Atmega 328 Based Menu Ordering System Using Zigbee

Abstract: Zigbee is a wireless protocol for transmitting data for short distances efficiently .In menu ordering system we wanted to make a system which is user friendly, less time consuming and cost efficient .As it is a combination of electronics and computer based system we can basically call it an embedded system. It is becoming difficult for restaurants to manage their staff also they don't want that their customer to wait for waiter to get free, so to provide a better solution to this problem we came up with an idea of making menu ordering system automated

Background: In Nepal pesticide poisoning is a common problem and organophosphorus poisoning (OP) is the most common form of acute poisoning responsible for majority of deaths. However, sufficient data is still lacking from Western region of Nepal. The present study analysed the sociodemographic factors of OP poisoning cases, the association of severity based on admission clinical score (POP scale) and lag time with mortality. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted in patients of organophosphorus poisoning, admitted to our casualty ward during a period of one-year June 2015 to 2016.Results: In this study incidence of OP poisoning was more in females 51 (65.38%) compared to males 27 (34.46%). The commonest age group involved in poisoning was 21-30 years 30 (38.4%). Housewives 32 (41.02%) were the commonest victims of poisoning. Incidence was high during rainy season 34 (43.58%) and mainly during late hours 27 (34.61%) of the day. Majority 24 (30.76%) cases reached hospital within 2 hours of poison intake. Methyl parathion (Metacid) 24 (30.76%) was the commonest OP compound consumed by the victims. Suicide 62 (79.48%) was the main motive of poison intake and financial problem (37.17%) was the main reason behind poison ingestion. In majority of the cases the sign and symptoms were mild (80.76%) in severity. In this study majority of the victims survived (9.30%) with prompt and appropriate treatment. Conclusions: The numbers of OP poisoning cases are increasing every year and poisoning is seen commonly in younger age groups. Therefore, strict legislature on the availability of OP compounds, preventive measures and appropriate health education should be introduced to decrease the incidence
