The Multidisciplinarity in Spanish and Foreign Communication Journals

Communication can be understood, under an epistemological framework, as a macrocontext from which education participates as a part. One of the objectives of this work is to contrast this theoretical consideration with the observed interaction between education and communication scientific journals defined by citations and relatedness towards other scientific journals. At the same time, there might be relevant differences between the citation patterns of Spanish and foreign (journals in Journal Citation Reports) communication journals, particularly with regard to their disciplinary composition. These differences might become a major problem for the interexchange of information between both sets of journals. The authors analyze the citations distribution by subject category for Spanish and JCR journals, as well as for the journal «Comunicar», and also the frequency of related journals per subject category in the case of JCR. It is concluded: a) that the aforementioned epistemological relationship is valid only for Spanish Communication journals, b) that there are relevant differences between both sets of journals in the disciplinary composition of their citedciting and related journals and that Information Science & Library Science might serve as a suitable communication channel; finally, c) the characteristic multidisciplinarity of the journal «Comunicar» is corroborated, both at the national and international level

Una dimensión regional del ciclo económico: El caso de Risaralda 1980 - 2002.

From the assumption that some regions may react with diferent force than others to the behaviors of the national macroeconomics variables, such as changes caused by the economic policy, variations in the relative prices and/or technological innovations, this document explore the characteristics of the Risaralda economic cycle in the 1980 – 2002 period. For this, it is evaluated in which measure the productive cycle in Risaralda has been related with the national pattern, or, if by the contrary, it has been fundamentally determined by particular events of the department and/or by the changes in the international economic conditions, specially in which has to do with the evolution of the international coffee market. It is found that the regional cycle has had a bigger average duration and a greater volatility in comparison to the national cycle, which confirms the initial hypothesis.A partir del supuesto de que algunas regiones pueden reaccionar con más fuerza que otras a los comportamientos de las variables macroeconómicas nacionales, tales como cambios propiciados por la política económica, variaciones en los precios relativos y/o innovaciones tecnológicas, en este documento se exploran las características del ciclo de la economía risaraldense en los períodos 1980-2002. Para ello se evalúa en qué medida el ciclo productivo de Risaralda ha estado relacionado con el patrón nacional o si, por el contrario, ha estado fundamentalmente determinado por eventos particulares del departamento y/o por los cambios en las condiciones económicas internacionales, especialmente en lo que tiene que ver con la evolución del mercado internacional del café.
