Searches in Photon and Jet States
We present recent results from the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) and D0
experiments using data from proton-antiproton collisions with sqrt(s) = 1.96
TeV at Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron. New physics may appear in events with
high transverse momentum objects, including photons and quark or gluon jets.
The results described here are of signature-based searches and model-based
searches probing supersymmetry, leptoquarks, 4th generation quarks, and large

Screen Influences on Preteens
This precis analyzed the works conducted in Southern California in 2014 titled, “Five Days at Outdoor
Education Camp Without Screens improves Preteens Skills with Nonverbal Emotion Cues.” The analysis
begins by defining non-verbal emotional cues and continues to give a brief description of the 2014
experiment, including its sample size, experimental and control groups, and a means to account for
similar demographic variables. The findings from the research conducted conclude that time spent away
from screen-based media does in fact improve the recognition of nonverbal emotional cues. This precis

Search for Leptoquarks and 4th generation Quarks at CDF
At Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron, the CDF experiment provides good sensitivity for either discovery or setting limits on 1st and 2nd generation scalar, or 3rd generation vector, leptoquark pair-production, where each leptoquark decays to a charged lepton and a quark with variable branching ratio {beta}, or decays to a neutrino and quark with branching ratio (1 - {beta}). By comparison with the theoretical expectations, we set mass limits, in some cases as a function of {beta}. New quark generations are predicted in various scenarios for physics beyond the Standard Model. Here we include results from searches for t' and for b' production. The t' is searched for in decays to W{sub q} and the b' in decays to Z{sup 0}b. All of these measurements are based on an integrated luminosity of 200-350 pb{sup -1}, taken at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV
Spatio-semantic user profiles in location-based social networks
Knowledge of users’ visits to places is one of the keys to understanding their interest in places. User-contributed annotations of place, the types of places they visit, and the activities they carry out, add a layer of important semantics that, if considered, can result in more refined representations of user profiles. In this paper, semantic information is summarised as tags for places and a folksonomy data model is used to represent spatial and semantic relationships between users, places, and tags. The model allows simple co-occurrence methods and similarity measures to be applied to build different views of personalised user profiles. Basic profiles capture direct user interactions, while enriched profiles offer an extended view of users’ association with places and tags that take into account relationships in the folksonomy. The main contributions of this work are the proposal of a uniform approach to the creation of user profiles on the Social Web that integrates both the spatial and semantic components of user-provided information, and the demonstration of the effectiveness of this approach with realistic datasets

Physical Activity and Obesity Indicators: National Cross Sectional Study on Lebanese Adults
Association between higher levels of physical activity and lower rates of obesity has been shown. The aim is to assess the relation between the prevalence of physical activity and the Physical Activity Index (PAI) of 300 Lebanese healthy adults, with age, gender, occupation, body mass indices and waist circumferences (WC). The cutoff points of WC for both genders were determined using the values of Body Mass Index (BMI). A cross-sectional study using self-reported valid questionnaire was conducted randomly on 150 men and 150 women, between 18 and 74 years, from Beirut region. Association between variables was performed using chi2, T-Test and ANOVA. Linear regression determined the WC cutoffs based on BMI. 22% of the population was obese with WC mean level of 92.47±14.4cm (87.71±14.4 cm for women and 97.24±12.96 cm for men). The prevalence of physical activity was 34% in overall population (27% in women and 40% in men).There was no significant association between BMI values and PAI (p< 0.085 for men and p< 0.300 for women). However there was an inverse association between WC values and PAI in both genders (p<0.043 in men and p< 0.036 in women). Linear regression showed WC cut-off point in Lebanese women with BMI ≥25 kg/m2 and ≥30 kg/m2 of 86 cm and 100 cm respectively, whereas for men it was 92.12 cm and 105 cm respectively. The prevalence of physical activity in Beirut is low with differences among genders. The highest physical activity index is associated with the decreased values of waist circumference
