Spectroscopy of eta'-nucleus bound states at GSI-SIS
The eta' meson mass may be reduced due to partial restoration of chiral
symmetry. If this is the case, an eta'-nucleus system may form a nuclear bound
state. We plan to carry out a missing-mass spectroscopy with the 12C(p,d)
reaction at GSI-SIS. Peak structures corresponding to such a bound state may be

The concept of mindfulness in information systems research: A multi-dimensional analysis
The concept of mindfulness has garnered increasing attention during the last decade. Initially proposed within the scope of Information Systems (IS) research as a means of creating a deeper knowledge foundation for decision making regarding information technology (IT) innovations, it soon became broadly applied throughout IS research. To gain a better understanding of the evolved diversity of this concept, this paper reviews and analyzes extant IS research by means of (a) the investigated IS themes, (b) the purpose of using the concept, (c) the level of application of the concept, and (d) the tendency to focus either on mindfulness, mindlessness, or both. By synthesizing research findings, we derive a high-level IS mindfulness theory. We then propose future research opportunities, such as the explanation of the relationships between different levels of mindfulness, applying mindfulness to bridge the different phases of the software development process, and identification of guidelines for designing information systems that facilitate mindfulness. As the first review on the application of mindfulness in IS research, we contribute to the overall understanding of mindfulness and address the four abovementioned dimensions from which mindfulness emerges in order to demonstrate that mindfulness provides a meaningful platform for generating knowledge
Firsthand Experience and The Subsequent Role of Reflected Knowledge in Cultivating Trust in Global Collaboration
While scholars contend that firsthand experience - time spent onsite observing the people, places, and norms of a distant locale - is crucial in globally distributed collaboration, how such experience actually affects interpersonal dynamics is poorly understood. Based on 47 semistructured interviews and 140 survey responses in a global chemical company, this paper explores the effects of firsthand experience on intersite trust. We find firsthand experience leads not just to direct knowledge of the other, but also knowledge of the self as seen through the eyes of the other - what we call “reflected knowledge”. Reflected and direct knowledge, in turn, affect trust through identification, adaptation, and reduced misunderstandings
Beyond motivation: Job and work design for development, health, ambidexterity, and more
Much research shows it is possible to design motivating work, which has positive consequences for individuals and their organizations. This article reviews research that adopts this motivational perspective on work design, and it emphasizes that it is important to continue to refine motivational theories. In light of continued large numbers of poor-quality jobs, attention must also be given to influencing practice and policy to promote the effective implementation of enriched work designs. Nevertheless, current and future work-based challenges mean that designing work for motivation is necessary but insufficient. This review argues that work design can be a powerful vehicle for learning and development, for maintaining and enhancing employees' physical and mental health, and for achieving control and flexibility simultaneously (for example, in the form of ambidexterity); all these outcomes are important given the challenges in today's workplaces. The review concludes by suggesting methodological directions
Why so serious? Theorising playful model-driven group decision support with situated affectivity

group decision support (GDS) interventions is needed to gain insight into the (micro-)processes
by which outcomes are accomplished. This paper proposes that the theoretical lens of situated
affectivity, grounded in recent extensions of scaffolded mind models, is suitable to understand the
performativity of affective micro-processes in model-driven GDS interventions. An illustrative vignette
of a humorous micro-moment in a group decision workshop is presented to reveal the performativity of
extended affective scaffolding processes for group decision development. The lens of situated
affectivity constitutes a novel approach for the study of interventionist practice in the context of group
decision making (and negotiation). An outlook with opportunities for future research is offered to
facilitate an integrated approach to the study of cognitive-affective and behavioural micro-processes in

Ten principles of heterochromatin formation and function
Heterochromatin is a critical architectural unit of eukaryotic chromosomes. It endows particular genomic domains with specific functional properties. Critical is the role of heterochromatin in genomic stability, which is mediated by its ability to restrain mobile elements, isolate repair events in repetitive regions, and to contribute to the formation of structures that ensure accurate chromosome segregation. This distinctive chromatin also contributes to developmental regulation by restricting the accessible compartment of the genome in specific lineages. The establishment and maintenance mechanisms that mediate heterochromatin assembly are separable and involve the ability of sequence-specific factors, modified chromatin and nascent transcript-bound proteins to recruit chromatin-modifying enzymes. Heterochromatin can spread along the chromatin fiber from nucleation sites and also mediates its own epigenetic inheritance through cell division, yet these propensities are normally strongly repressed. Due to its central importance in chromosome biology, heterochromatin plays key roles in the pathogenesis of various human diseases. In this article, we derive these broadly conserved principles of heterochromatin formation and function using selected examples from studies of a range of eukaryotic model organisms from yeast to man, with an emphasis on insights obtained from unicellular systems
School organizational culture: The peak of research in the context of neoliberal policies
Inscrita numa matriz teórica multirreferencial, a problemática da cultura organizacional tem sido objecto de múltiplos desenvolvimentos conceptuais e diversificadas apropriações políticas e ideológicas. No campo da educação e no contexto mais específico das organizações escolares, as abordagens culturais e simbólicas sofreram algumas inflexões teóricas apenas compreensíveis quando contextualizadas no quadro mais global das políticas internacionais de cariz neoliberal e neoconservador. Neste trabalho, procura-se reflectir criticamente sobre a forma como a problemática da cultura organizacional em contexto escolar passa a ser (re)perspectivada numa altura em que se expandem alguns objectivos e valores políticos associados às ideologias da modernização e da racionalização. Num segundo momento, tomando como ponto de partida a análise de um vasto número de investigações integradas em quatro bases de dados electrónicas de âmbito internacional, debatemos as principais tendências teóricas, conceptuais e metodológicas deste campo de estudo, fazendo sobressair o lugar e o estatuto da escola enquanto contexto privilegiado de investigação, designadamente nos domínios crítico-reflexivos.Within a multi-referential theoretical framework, the issue of organizational culture has been a subject for multiple conceptual developments and different ideological and political appropriations. In the field of education and in the specific context of school organizations, the cultural and symbolic approaches were subjected to some theoretical inflections. These can only be understood in the global framework of international policies of neoliberal and neoconservative nature. First, this paper critically discusses how the issue of organizational culture in school context was put in perspectives at a time when some political-ideological objectives and values were associated to modernization and rationalization ideologies. The impact of societal cultural values and individual social beliefs on the perceived effectiveness of managerial influence strategies: a meso approach
This paper reports the findings of a 12-nation study designed to test empirically the relationships between societal cultural values, individual social beliefs, and the perceived effectiveness of different influence strategies. The relationships between three types of broad influence strategy (persuasive, assertive, and relationship based) and four dimensions of individual beliefs (cynicism, fate control, reward for application, and religiosity) were examined. Three of Project GLOBE's cultural values (in-group collectivism, uncertainty avoidance, and future orientation) were selected to investigate their direct effects on the rated effectiveness of influence strategies, and their possible interaction with dimensions of individual beliefs. Results showed that different dimensions of individual social beliefs predict the perceived effectiveness of the three types of influence strategy, and that cultural values can moderate the strength of the relationship between these dimensions of individual social beliefs and the perceived effectiveness of influence strategies
Internalised Values and Fairness Perception: Ethics in Knowledge Management
This chapter argues for ethical consideration in knowledge management (KM). It explores the effect that internalised values and fairness perception have on individuals’ participation in KM practices. Knowledge is power, and organisations seek to manage knowledge through KM practices. For knowledge to be processed, individual employees—the source of all knowledge—need to be willing to participate in KM practices. As knowledge is power and a key constituent part of knowledge is ethics, individuals’ internalised values and fairness perception affect knowledge-processing. Where an organisation claims ownership over knowledge, an individual may perceive being treated unfairly, which may obstruct knowledge-processing. Through adopting ethical KM practices, individual needs are respected, enabling knowledge-processing. Implications point towards an ethical agenda in KM theory and practice
