Secondary electron emission yield in the limit of low electron energy
Secondary electron emission (SEE) from solids plays an important role in many
areas of science and technology.1 In recent years, there has been renewed
interest in the experimental and theoretical studies of SEE. A recent study
proposed that the reflectivity of very low energy electrons from solid surface
approaches unity in the limit of zero electron energy2,3,4, If this was indeed
the case, this effect would have profound implications on the formation of
electron clouds in particle accelerators,2-4 plasma measurements with
electrostatic Langmuir probes, and operation of Hall plasma thrusters for
spacecraft propulsion5,6. It appears that, the proposed high electron
reflectivity at low electron energies contradicts to numerous previous
experimental studies of the secondary electron emission7. The goal of this note

Шульгина, работающего на кафедре экспериментальной физики, показаны результаты организации НИРС и ВНР студентов в рамках инновационного подхода, осуществляемого путем подключения их к разработке новых объектов интеллектуальной собственности, отвечающих требованиям мировой новизны. В результате такого подхода за последние 40 лет 48 студентов из научной группы профессора Б. В. Discrete analogues of the Liouville equation
The notion of Laplace invariants is transferred to the lattices and discrete
equations which are difference analogs of hyperbolic PDE's with two independent
variables. The sequence of Laplace invariants satisfy the discrete analog of
twodimensional Toda lattice. The terminating of this sequence by zeroes is
proved to be the necessary condition for existence of the integrals of the
equation under consideration. The formulae are presented for the higher
symmetries of the equations possessing integrals. The general theory is

Effective passivation of crystalline silicon surfaces by ultrathin atomic-layer-deposited TiOx layers
We characterize the surface passivation properties of ultrathin titanium oxide (TiOx) films deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on crystalline silicon by means of carrier lifetime measurements. We compare different silicon surface treatments prior to TiOx deposition, such as native silicon oxide (SiOy), chemically grown SiOy and thermally grown SiOy. The best passivation quality is achieved with a native SiOy grown over 4 months and a TiOx layer thickness of 5 nm, resulting in an effective lifetime of 1.2 ms on 1.3 Ωcm p-type float-zone silicon. The measured maximum lifetime corresponds to an implied open-circuit voltage (iVoc) of 710 mV. For thinner TiOx layers the passivation quality is reduced, however, samples passivated with only 2 nm of TiOx still show a lifetime of 612 μs and an iVoc of 694 mV. The contact resistivity of the TiOx including the SiOy interlayer between the silicon wafer and the TiOx is below 0.8 Ωcm2. The combination of excellent surface passivation and low contact resistivity has the potential for silicon solar cells with efficiencies exceeding 26%
Совершенствование Технологии И Плуга Основной Обработки Почвы
The introduction of abandoned fields into crop rotation for obtaining agricultural product is an important economic problem today. The work is aimed at improving the technology of primary tillage of the soil and the moldboard plow for this purpose that would ensure embedding of tall-growing plants in abandoned fields at low energy costs and with good agronomic performance. The energetic and agronomic characteristics of the moldboard plow for primary moldboard tillage were studied using the basic provisions of classical and agricultural mechanics, mathematics, in accordance with the existing State Standards of the Russian Federation, Company Standard AIST, and the adopted scientific and practical methods. Ordinary medium loamy black soil was used as the physicomechanical properties of the soil. As a result of the studies, the problem of restoring abandoned fields has been solved through the use of advanced tillage technologies that are different from the existing moldboard tillage and performed using the designed working organ. The authors offer an advanced technology of primary moldboard tillage of abandoned fields and a plow that ensure embedding of tall-growing plants in the topsoil at low energy costs and with good agronomic performance.La introducción de campos abandonados en la rotación de cultivos para la producción agrícola es un importante problema económico urgente. El objetivo del trabajo es mejorar la tecnología del arado principal de labranza y vertedero para su implementación, lo que garantiza la plantación de plantas altas en campos abandonados con bajo consumo de energía y altos indicadores agrotécnicos. Las investigaciones de los indicadores energéticos y agrotécnicos del arado para la labranza principal del vertedero se llevaron a cabo utilizando los principios básicos de la mecánica clásica y agrícola, las matemáticas, de acuerdo con los GOST actuales de la Federación de Rusia, STO AIST y los métodos establecidos en la ciencia y la práctica. Como propiedades físicas y mecánicas del suelo, se usó chernozem ordinario medio arcilloso. Como resultado de la investigación, el problema de la restauración de los campos abandonados se resolvió mediante el uso de una tecnología mejorada de cultivo del suelo, que difiere del conocido cultivo de cuchillas de arado y lo lleva a cabo el cuerpo de trabajo desarrollado. Los autores del artículo propusieron una tecnología mejorada para la labranza principal del vertedero de los campos abandonados y un arado, que garantiza la incorporación de plantas altas en la capa cultivable con bajo consumo de energía y alto rendimiento agrícola.ввод заброшенных полей в севооборот для производства сельскохозяйственной продукции является важной актуальной хозяйственной проблемой. Целью работы является совершенствование технологии основной обработки почвы и отвального плуга для её выполнения, обеспечивающего заделку высокорослых растений на заброшенных полях при низких энергозатратах и высоких агротехнических показателях. Исследования энергетических и агротехнических показателей плуга для основной отвальной обработки почвы проводились с использованием основных положений классической и земледельческой механики, математики, в соответствии с действующими ГОСТами РФ, СТО АИСТ и установленными в науке и практике методами. В качестве физико-механических свойств почвы использовали чернозем обыкновенный среднесуглинистый. В результате проведенных исследований решена проблема восстановления заброшенных полей, за счет применения усовершенствованной технологии обработки почвы, отличающейся от известной лемешно-отвальной обработки и выполняемой разработанным рабочим органом. Авторами статьи предложена усовершенствованная технология основной отвальной обработки почвы заброшенных полей и плуг, обеспечивающие заделку высокорослых растений в пахотный слой с низкими энергозатратами и при высоких агротехнических показателях

Assessment of novel biomarkers of renal dysfunction associated with lower urinary tract symptoms in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia
Introduction. The problem of diagnostics and treatment of patients with complex lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (LUTS/BPH) remains highly relevant. Clinical diagnostic methods do not always allow timely prediction of changes in renal, upper and lower urinary tract function with different types of treatment intervention. The search for potential biomarkers allowing minimally invasive assessment of the bladder and renal function condition seems to be a promising direction of scientific research.Objective. To identify potential urine and serum biomarkers allowing to assess renal function in patients with LUTS/BPH.Materials & methods. The study included 69 patients with LUTS/BPH and subsequently divided them into two groups. Group 1 included 48 patients with moderate LUTS who received combination therapy with alpha-1 adrenergic blockers (AABs) and 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (5ARIs). Group 2 included 21 patients with severe LUTS/BPH. Patients of group 2 underwent surgical treatment: transurethral resection of the prostate. In addition to standard research methods (IPSS, voiding diaries, laboratory, urodynamic and radiation techniques), to search for potential biomarkers in serum and urine, concentrations of: insulin-like growth factor binding protein-7 (IGFBP7), B-Cross Laps, Cystatin C, OPN, trefoil factor (TFF3), uromodulin, Clusterin, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). The follow-up period for patients was 12 months.Results. The study noted that IGFBP7, Cystatin C, TFF3 in the blood serum, as well as LDH, Clusterin in the urine are associated with the severity of LUTS/BPH. Serum biomarker levels were initially higher in patients with severe LUTS compared to patients with moderate LUTS (group 1). The levels of these substrates decreased in patients of all groups during treatment (conservative therapy, surgical interventions for BPH). When assessing urinary biomarkers, the greatest decrease in Clusterin level by the end of follow-up was registered in group 1 patients, the least pronounced in group 2 patients. The initial value of LDH was twice higher in group 2 vs group 1 and progressively decreased after surgical treatment of bladder outlet obstruction.Conclusion. Biomarkers used to assess renal dysfunction in the development of LUTS/BPH are a promising area of scientific research. Panels of new markers will enable to predict renal dysfunction in patients with moderate-to-severe LUTS, which will improve the quality of medical care for this category of patients

N-transfer through aspen litter and feather moss layers after fertilization with ammonium nitrate and urea
When fertilizer is broadcast in boreal forest stands, the applied nutrients must pass through a thick layer of either feather moss or leaf litter which covers the forest floor. In a growth chamber experiment we tested the transfer of N through living feather moss or aspen litter when fertilized with urea ((NH2)2CO) or NH4NO3 at a rate of 100 kg ha−1 and under different watering regimes. When these organic substrates were frequently watered to excess they allowed the highest transfer of nutrients through, although 72% of the applied fertilizer was captured in the substrates. In a field experiment we also fertilized moss and aspen litter with urea ((NH2)2CO) or NH4NO3 at a more operationally relevant rate of 330 kg ha−1. We captured the NO3− or NH4+ by ion exchange resin at the substrate–mineral soil interface. In contrast to the growth chamber experiment, this fertilizer rate killed the moss and there was no detectable increase in nutrient levels in the aspen litter or feather moss layers. Instead, the urea was more likely transferred into the mineral soil; mineral soil of the urea treatment had 1.6 times as much extractable N compared to the NH4NO3 treatment. This difference between the growth chamber and field studies was attributed to observed fertilizer- damage to the living moss and possibly damage to the litter microflora due to the higher rate of fertilization in the field. In addition, the early and substantial rainfall after fertilization in the field experiment produced conditions for rapid leaching of N through the organic layers into the mineral soil. In the field, only 8% of the urea-N that was applied was captured by the ion exchange resin, while 34% was captured in for the NH4NO3 fertilization. Thus, the conditions for rapid leaching in the field moved much of the N in the form of urea through the organic layers and into the mineral soil before it was hydrolyzed
