For many years a dye has been used in the practise of pisciculture and pond management, which is known by the name of malachite green, and is used to combat fungus on fish, fish eggs and external animal parasites on fish. Exchange-correlation energy densities for two-dimensional systems from quantum dot ground-states
In this paper we present a new approach how to extract polarization-dependent
exchange-correlation energy densities for two-dimensional systems from
reference densities and energies of quantum dots provided by exact
diagonalization. Compared with results from literature we find systematic
corrections for all polarizations in the regime of high densities.Comment: 7 figures. submitted to Phys. Rev.
Diffusion Monte Carlo study of circular quantum dots
We present ground and excited state energies obtained from Diffusion Monte
Carlo (DMC) calculations, using accurate multiconfiguration wave functions, for
electrons () confined to a circular quantum dot. We analyze the
electron-electron pair correlation functions and compare the density and
correlation energies to the predictions of local spin density approximation
theory (LSDA). The DMC estimated change in electrochemical potential as
function of the number of electrons in the dot is compared to that from LSDA

Current-spin-density functional study of persistent currents in quantum rings
We present a numerical study of persistent currents in quantum rings using
current spin density functional theory (CSDFT). This formalism allows for a
systematic study of the joint effects of both spin, interactions and impurities
for realistic systems. It is illustrated that CSDFT is suitable for describing
the physical effects related to Aharonov-Bohm phases by comparing energy
spectra of impurity-free rings to existing exact diagonalization and
experimental results. Further, we examine the effects of a symmetry-breaking
impurity potential on the density and current characteristics of the system and
propose that narrowing the confining potential at fixed impurity potential will
suppress the persistent current in a characteristic way.Comment: 7 pages REVTeX, including 8 postscript figure
Exchange-correlation vector potentials and vorticity-dependent exchange-correlation energy densities in two-dimensional systems
We present a new approach how to calculate the scalar exchange-correlation
potentials and the vector exchange-correlation potentials from current-carrying
ground states of two-dimensional quantum dots. From these exchange-correlation
potentials we derive exchange-correlation energy densities and examine their
vorticity (or current) dependence. Compared with parameterizations of
current-induced effects in literature we find an increased significance of
corrections due to paramagnetic current densities.Comment: 5 figures, submitted to PR
Quantum-dot lithium in zero magnetic field: Electronic properties, thermodynamics, and a liquid-solid transition in the ground state
Energy spectra, electron densities, pair correlation functions and heat
capacity of a quantum-dot lithium in zero external magnetic field (a system of
three interacting two-dimensional electrons in a parabolic confinement
potential) are studied using the exact diagonalization approach. A particular
attention is given to a Fermi-liquid -- Wigner-solid transition in the ground
state of the dot, induced by the intra-dot Coulomb interaction.Comment: 12 pages, incl. 16 figure
On the formation of Wigner molecules in small quantum dots
It was recently argued that in small quantum dots the electrons could
crystallize at much higher densities than in the infinite two-dimensional
electron gas. We compare predictions that the onset of spin polarization and
the formation of Wigner molecules occurs at a density parameter to the results of a straight-forward diagonalization of the Hamiltonian
matrix
Measurement of the Spin-Dependence of the pbar-p Interaction at the AD-Ring
We propose to use an internal polarized hydrogen storage cell gas target in
the AD ring to determine for the first time the two total spin-dependent pbar-p
cross sections sigma_1 and sigma_2 at antiproton beam energies in the range
from 50 to 450 MeV. The data obtained are of interest by themselves for the
general theory of pbar-p interactions since they will provide a first
experimental constraint of the spin-spin dependence of the nucleon-antinucleon
potential in the energy range of interest. In addition, measurements of the
polarization buildup of stored antiprotons are required to define the optimum
parameters of a future, dedicated Antiproton Polarizer Ring (APR), intended to
feed a double-polarized asymmetric pbar-p collider with polarized antiprotons.
Such a machine has recently been proposed by the PAX collaboration for the new
Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) at GSI in Darmstadt, Germany.
The availability of an intense stored beam of polarized antiprotons will
provide access to a wealth of single- and double-spin observables, thereby

Forward K+ production in subthreshold pA collisions at 1.0 GeV
K+ meson production in pA (A = C, Cu, Au) collisions has been studied using
the ANKE spectrometer at an internal target position of the COSY-Juelich
accelerator. The complete momentum spectrum of kaons emitted at forward angles,
theta < 12 degrees, has been measured for a beam energy of T(p)=1.0 GeV, far
below the free NN threshold of 1.58 GeV. The spectrum does not follow a thermal
distribution at low kaon momenta and the larger momenta reflect a high degree
of collectivity in the target nucleus.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
