MOS capacitances used in mixed-signal circuits and their operative range

    Get PDF
To avoid additional layers for high linearity capacitances in modern CMOS process families, compensated depletion mode MOS capacitances can be used. As shown in previous publications, these MOS capacitances are suitable for low voltage applications.</p><p style=&quot;line-height: 20px;&quot;> But there exist limitations concerning the linearity of these capacitances. In this work, the impact of the nonlinearity of the capacitances on different kinds of circuits is investigated. Several examples will be discussed to show how to choose the right capacitance topology

Brain Oscillatory Correlates of Altered Executive Functioning in Positive and Negative Symptomatic Schizophrenia Patients and Healthy Controls

Working Memory and executive functioning deficits are core characteristics of patients suffering from schizophrenia. Electrophysiological research indicates that altered patterns of neural oscillatory mechanisms underpinning executive functioning are associated with the psychiatric disorder. Such brain oscillatory changes have been found in local amplitude differences at gamma and theta frequencies in task-specific cortical areas. Moreover, interregional interactions are also disrupted as signified by decreased phase coherence of fronto-posterior theta activity in schizophrenia patients. However, schizophrenia is not a one-dimensional psychiatric disorder but has various forms and expressions. A common distinction is between positive and negative symptomatology but most patients have both negative and positive symptoms to some extent. Here, we examined three groups – healthy controls, predominantly negative and predominantly positive symptomatic schizophrenia patients – when performing a working memory task with increasing cognitive demand and increasing need for executive control. We analysed brain oscillatory activity in the three groups separately and investigated how predominant symptomatology might explain differences in brain oscillatory patterns. Our results indicate that differences in task specific fronto-posterior network activity (i.e. executive control network) expressed by interregional phase synchronisation are able to account for working memory dysfunctions between groups. Local changes in the theta and gamma frequency range also show differences between patients and healthy controls, and more importantly, between the two patient groups. We conclude that differences in oscillatory brain activation patterns related to executive processing can be an indicator for positive and negative symptomatology in schizophrenia. Furthermore, changes in cognitive and especially executive functioning in patients are expressed by alterations in a task-specific fronto-posterior connectivity even in the absence of behavioural impairment

    Assorted Selfscriptings: 1964-1985

Assorted Selfscriptings 1964-1985 is a selection of Eugene Stelzig’s poetry from five manuscript volumes. The poems are expressions of moods and states of mind of a changing self—or more accurately, selves. They are traces or scraps, remnants or remainders and reminders of them. Through these often confessional and autobiographical verses, Stelzig speaks to the states of mind and moods all pass through in life’s perennial journey. The issues these poems touch on are at once intimately personal as well as engaged with the politics of daily life and the larger world we all inhabit.https://knightscholar.geneseo.edu/geneseo-authors/1004/thumbnail.jp

Bob Dylan’s Career as a Blakean Visionary & Romantic

    Get PDF
Bob Dylan’s Career as a Blakean Visionary and Romantic was completed in 1976 as an invited contribution to a volume of academic and scholarly essays on Dylan to be published by the Popular Press and edited by Patrick Morrow. After the volume was accepted and the publication contract was signed, the Popular Press reneged on the agreement, apparently because it felt the volume would fall between the cracks: Dylan’s popular fan base would not be interested in a book of academic articles, and academics would not be interested in a pop culture idol. Obviously things have changed considerably in the intervening decades! This discussion—written almost four decades ago—of the deep affinities between Dylan’s song poetry and the Romantics, especially William Blake, is one of the early “scholarly” as opposed to popular appreciations of Dylan’s art and his oeuvre from his first album up to and including Desire (1976).https://knightscholar.geneseo.edu/geneseo-authors/1003/thumbnail.jp

    Pluripotential homotopy theory

We build free, bigraded bidifferential algebra models for the forms on a complex manifold, with respect to a strong notion of quasi-isomorphism and compatible with the conjugation symmetry. This answers a question of Sullivan. The resulting theory naturally accomodates higher operations involving double primitives. As applications, we obtain various refinements of the homotopy groups, sensitive to the complex structure. Under a simple connectedness assumption, one obtains minimal models which are unique up to isomorphism and allow for explicit computations of the new invariants
