Secondary predication in Russian
The paper makes two contributions to semantic typology of secondary predicates. It provides an explanation of the fact that Russian has no resultative secondary predicates, relating this explanation to the interpretation of secondary predicates in English. And it relates depictive secondary predicates in Russian, which usually occur in the instrumental case, to other uses of the instrumental case in Russian, establishing here, too, a difference to English concerning the scope of the secondary predication phenomenon
Measure instrumental in russian
We will argue that some seemingly adverbial free DPs in the instrumental in Russian which are traditionally termed measure instrumental are best understood as secondary predicates. We present the relevant syntactic assumptions and propose a semantics of this use of DPs in the instrumental. This proposal hears on the distinction between adjunct modification and secondary predication
Analysis of parametric oscillatory instability in Fabry-Perot cavity with Gauss and Laguerre-Gauss main mode profile
We calculate the parametric instabilities in Fabry-Perot cavities of Advanced
VIRGO and LIGO interferometers with different main mode profiles. All unstable
combinations of elastic and Stokes modes both for the case with TEM00 and LG33

A General Approach to Optomechanical Parametric Instabilities
We present a simple feedback description of parametric instabilities which
can be applied to a variety of optical systems. Parametric instabilities are of
particular interest to the field of gravitational-wave interferometry where
high mechanical quality factors and a large amount of stored optical power have
the potential for instability. In our use of Advanced LIGO as an example
application, we find that parametric instabilities, if left unaddressed,
present a potential threat to the stability of high-power operation

Analysis of Parametric Oscillatory Instability in Power Recycled LIGO Interferometer
We present the analysis of a nonlinear effect of parametric oscillatory
instability in power recycled LIGO interferometer with the Fabry-Perot (FP)
cavities in the arms. The basis for this effect is the excitation of the
additional (Stokes) optical mode and the mirror elastic mode, when the optical
energy stored in the main FP cavity main mode exceeds the certain threshold and
the frequencies are related so that sum of frequencies of Stokes and elastic
modes are approximately equal to frequencyof main mode. The presence of
anti-Stokes modes (with frequency approximately equal to sum of frequencies of
main and elastic modes) can depress parametric instability. However, it is very
likely that the anti-Stokes modes will not compensate the parametric

Coating thermal noise for arbitrary shaped beams
Advanced LIGO's sensitivity will be limited by coating noise. Though this
noise depends on beam shape, and though nongaussian beams are being seriously
considered for advanced LIGO, no published analysis exists to compare the
quantitative thermal noise improvement alternate beams offer. In this paper, we
derive and discuss a simple integral which completely characterizes the
dependence of coating thermal noise on shape. The derivation used applies
equally well, with minor modifications, to all other forms of thermal noise in

Advanced LIGO: non-Gaussian beams
By using non-Gaussian, flat-topped beams in the advanced gravitational wave interferometers currently being designed, one can reduce the impact on the interferometer sensitivity of a variety of fundamental disturbances (thermoelastic noise, noise in mirror coatings, thermal lensing, etc). This may make beating the standard quantum limit an achievable goal
