A PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF IEEE 802.11ax NETWORKS
The paper is focused on the forthcoming IEEE 802.11ax standard and its influence on Wi-Fi networks performance. The most important features dedicated to improve transmission effectiveness are presented. Furthermore, the simulation results of a new transmission modes are described. The comparison with the legacy IEEE 802.11n/ac standards shows that even partial implementation of a new standard should bring significant throughput improvements

Study of porous monolithic sio2 prepeared by sol-gel method
For applications as catalyst supports in flow reactors, porous silica monoliths require a combination of connected pores of micron-scale and nm-scale pores. We have synthesised a range porous silica monoliths, characterised their nm-scale pores and measured their permeability coefficients k. It can be controlled by adjustment of the polymer/silane concentration ratio, whilst maintaining the specific surface area and nm-scale porosity approximately constant
The Engineering Pavilion – a learning space developing engineers for the global community
Of the many factors, formal and informal, that facilitate engineering students’ skills development and engineering identity, interactions with fellow students, teachers and industry are key. The Engineering Pavilion at Curtin facilitates these interactions in a building dedicated to students, providing a ‘home’ throughout their studies, a base for industry to engage with students, and stimulating concept understanding in a live (instrumented) building and learning space. To understand how students develop their learning, experience and behavior in this space, we need to understand the culture of the Pavilion. The theories of Pierre Bourdieu and the key concept of habitus, allow us to operationalize the concept of culture and understand the shifting mixtures of values and beliefs that underlie behavior. An ethnographic approach, studying a culture-shaping group at a single site, was employed. The Pavilion, recently opened, already supports student interactions. In moving from a habitus of student to graduate engineer, students’ perceptions and behavior are influenced by these interactions. The larger field of engineering education also changes through adoption or revaluing new forms of behavior through the curriculum. The Pavilion hosts the development of changing habitus and exemplifies how innovative learning spaces can influence the norms of long-established disciplines
The purpose of the work is to develop recommendations for the application of pipeline laying technology by the method of horizontal directional drilling using a protective device.
In the process of the research, the existing methods of trenchless pipeline laying, the calculation of the main characteristics of the underwater crossing, the selection of the protective device, the study of the stress-strain state of the pipeline using finite element modeling in the software complex Ansys were compared. As a result of the research, optimal parameters of the underwater transition were selected, the finite element method in the software complex Ansys determined the stress-strain state of the pipeline with the protective device and without it
Challenge, support, and everydayness: Measuring and creating a classroom climate for growth for high capacity students
© 2023 Jolanta Helena SzymakowskiThe learning gains of high achieving (capacity) students may be marred by their embedded classroom climate. Using a psychosocial methodology, a latent construct, classroom climate for growth for high capacity students, was proposed and hypothesised to consist of four dimensions: School Support, Teacher Expertise, Classroom Personality – Teacher and Classroom Personality-Students. A 60-item questionnaire was developed to measure the latent construct, the responses being descriptions of behaviours and scaled using IRT. A 9-level taxonomy of support was developed. The questionnaire was completed by 52 Victorian primary and secondary teachers in Stage 1 and by an additional 63 teachers in Stage 2. An evaluation of the psychometric properties of the questionnaire showed the instrument’s properties to be acceptable. Progressions for each dimension were developed. Multilevel modelling of the responses of 36 of the teachers with student growth (n=504 for numeracy, n = 583 for reading comprehension) showed negligible effects of the model on student achievement, possibly due to the small sample size but also suggesting the model may need to be adjusted. Teacher interviews (n = 7) uncovered a 6-step process implemented by teachers to cater for their high achieving students. It was also found that, with typically six levels of student achievement in each classroom, teacher flexibility around differentiated instruction and creating a classroom environment where multiple learning activities occurring simultaneously is seen as normal were key to challenging and supporting high achieving students
