Photo-doping of plasma-deposited polyaniline (PAni)
Although polyaniline (PAni) has been studied extensively in the past, little work has been done on producing films of this material via plasma deposition. We have synthesized and analysed the photoresponse behavior of plasma-deposited polyaniline films and proceeded to dope the films using light and with various metal ions. Upon illumination, the photocurrent responses of the thin plasma films increased over time, and the response was dependent on the film thickness. On doping the film with metal ions, the photocurrent densities were enhanced from nano- to micro-amperes per square centimeters. Doping seemed, however, to cause the films to become unstable. Despite this setback, which requires further research, the drastic increase in current shows great promise for the development of plasma-deposited polyaniline films for application in the area of organic electronics and photovoltaics

How do the 2022 YouVersion Bible verses-of-theyear reflect the way in which fear and loneliness were communicated via prepositional phrases that year? The associated objectives of this article are to compare Afrikaans met and van prepositional constructions expressing fear and loneliness in 2022 in two print books with the top 2022 YouVersion Bible verses; to establish how met and van relate to other prepositions in this regard, and to determine how these related prepositional constructions can expand a trauma-informed gradient of uses. This article considers Afrikaans met (with) and van (of) prepositional constructions expressing fear and loneliness in a subset of a corpus of such constructions produced in 2022. The Cognitive Linguistics analysis of the prepositional constructions centres on them as asymmetrical constructions on a spatiotemporal continuum of use in relation to the human body
Guiding the Gaze: How Bionic Reading Influences Eye Movements
In recent years, Bionic reading has been introduced as a means to combat superficial reading and low comprehension rates. This paper investigates eye movements between participants who read a passage in standard font and an additional Bionic font passage. It was found that Bionic font does not significantly change eye movements when reading. Fixation durations, number of fixations and reading speeds were not significantly different between the two formats. Furthermore, fixations were spread throughout the word and not only on leading characters, even when using Bionic font; hence, participants were not able to “auto-complete” the words. Additionally, Bionic font did not facilitate easier processing of low-frequency or unfamiliar words. Overall, it would appear that Bionic font, in the short term, does not affect reading. Further investigation is needed to determine whether a long-term intervention with Bionic font is more meaningful than standard interventions
Usability challenges of upgrading a word processor user interface
Published ArticleThis study evaluated the difficulty, in terms of usability, of upgrading from one version of a word processor user interface (Microsoft Word 2003) to another (2007). Laboratory-based usability testing involving 23 participants, who had never used Microsoft Word 2007 before, was conducted. All participants used the two versions in a repeated-measures experimental design. A Tobii 1750 Eye Tracker was used for screen recordings during testing. Participants were also required to fill in user satisfaction questionnaires. Results from the usability test showed that, in terms of usability, migrating from an original interface to a completely changed user interface is not easy
