Stochastic Process Associated with Traveling Wave Solutions of the Sine-Gordon Equation
Stochastic processes associated with traveling wave solutions of the
sine-Gordon equation are presented. The structure of the forward Kolmogorov
equation as a conservation law is essential in the construction and so is the
traveling wave structure. The derived stochastic processes are analyzed
numerically. An interpretation of the behaviors of the stochastic processes is

Contextual-based Image Inpainting: Infer, Match, and Translate
We study the task of image inpainting, which is to fill in the missing region
of an incomplete image with plausible contents. To this end, we propose a
learning-based approach to generate visually coherent completion given a
high-resolution image with missing components. In order to overcome the
difficulty to directly learn the distribution of high-dimensional image data,
we divide the task into inference and translation as two separate steps and
model each step with a deep neural network. We also use simple heuristics to
guide the propagation of local textures from the boundary to the hole. We show
that, by using such techniques, inpainting reduces to the problem of learning
two image-feature translation functions in much smaller space and hence easier
to train. We evaluate our method on several public datasets and show that we
generate results of better visual quality than previous state-of-the-art

Far-infrared optical conductivity of CeCu2Si2

the optical reflectivity of the heavy-fermion metal CeCu2Si2 in the energy
range 3 meV - 30 eV for temperatures between 4K - 300K. The results for the
charge dynamics indicate a behavior that is expected for the formation of a
coherent heavy quasiparticle state: Upon cooling the spectra of the optical
conductivity indicate a narrowing of the coherent response. Below temperatures
of 30 K a considerable suppression of conductivity evolves below a peak
structure at 13 meV. We assign this gap-like feature to strong electron
correlations due to the 4f-conduction electron hybridization.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
Temperature- and Magnetic-Field-Dependent Optical Properties of Heavy Quasiparticles in YbIr2Si2
We report the temperature- and magnetic-field-dependent optical conductivity
spectra of the heavy electron metal YbIrSi. Upon cooling below the
Kondo temperature (), we observed a typical charge dynamics that is
expected for a formation of a coherent heavy quasiparticle state. We obtained a
good fitting of the Drude weight of the heavy quasiparticles by applying a
modified Drude formula with a photon energy dependence of the quasiparticle
scattering rate that shows a similar power-law behavior as the temperature
dependence of the electrical resistivity. By applying a magnetic field of 6T
below , we found a weakening of the effective dynamical mass
enhancement by about 12% in agreement with the expected decrease of the

Construction of the granitoid crust of an island arc part I: geochronological and geochemical constraints from the plutonic Kohistan (NW Pakistan)
We present major and trace element analyses and U-Pb zircon intrusion ages from I-type granitoids sampled along a crustal transect in the vicinity of the Chilas gabbronorite of the Kohistan paleo-arc. The aim is to investigate the roles of fractional crystallization of mantle-derived melts and partial melting of lower crustal amphibolites to produce the magmatic upper crust of an island arc. The analyzed samples span a wide calc-alkaline compositional range (diorite-tonalite-granodiorite-granite) and have typical subduction-related trace element signatures. Their intrusion ages (75.1±4.5-42.1±4.4Ma) are younger than the Chilas Complex (~85Ma). The new results indicate, in conjunction with literature data, that granitoid formation in the Kohistan arc was a continuous rather than punctuated process. Field observations and the presence of inherited zircons indicate the importance of assimilation processes. Field relations, petrographic observations and major and trace element compositions of the granitoid indicate the importance of amphibole fractionation for their origin. It is concluded that granitoids in the Kohistan arc are derivative products of mantle derived melts that evolved through amphibole-dominated fractionation and intra crustal assimilatio
Fast Scramblers Of Small Size
We investigate various geometrical aspects of the notion of `optical depth'
in the thermal atmosphere of black hole horizons. Optical depth has been
proposed as a measure of fast-crambling times in such black hole systems, and
the associated optical metric suggests that classical chaos plays a leading
role in the actual scrambling mechanism. We study the behavior of the optical
depth with the size of the system and find that AdS/CFT phase transitions with
topology change occur naturally as the scrambler becomes smaller than its
thermal length. In the context of detailed AdS/CFT models based on D-branes,
T-duality implies that small scramblers are described in terms of matrix

Anisotropic optical conductivity of the putative Kondo insulator CeRuSn
Kondo insulators and in particular their non-cubic representatives have
remained poorly understood. Here we report on the development of an anisotropic
energy pseudogap in the tetragonal compound CeRuSn employing optical
reflectivity measurements in broad frequency and temperature ranges, and local
density approximation plus dynamical mean field theory calculations. The
calculations provide evidence for a Kondo insulator-like response within the
plane and a more metallic response along the c axis and qualitatively
reproduce the experimental observations, helping to identify their origin
