Study of J/psi to p pbar, Lambda Lambdabar and observation of eta_c to Lambda Lambdabar at Belle

We study the baryonic charmonium decays of B mesons, B+ to etac K+ and B+ to J/psi K+, where the etac and J/psi subsequently decay into a p pbar or Lambda Lambdabar pair. We measure the J/psi to p pbar, Lambda Lambdabar anisotropy parameters, alpha_B = -0.60 +- 0.13 +-0.14 (p pbar), -0.44 +- 0.51 +- 0.31 (Lambda Lambdabar) and compare to results from e+e- to J/psi formation experiments. We also report the first observation of etac to Lambda Lambdabar. The measured branching fraction is B(etac to Lambda Lambdabar) = (0.87 +0.24 -0.21(stat) +0.09 -0.14(syst) +- 0.27 (PDG)) x 10^-3. This study is based on a 357 fb^-1 data sample recorded on the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.Comment: 8 pages, two figures (4 figure files), an update of hep-ex/0509020 for journal submissio

Moments of the Hadronic Invariant Mass Spectrum in B --> X_c l nu Decays at Belle

    Get PDF
We present a measurement of the hadronic invariant mass squared (M^2_X) spectrum in charmed semileptonic B meson decays B --> X_c l nu based on 140 fb^-1 of Belle data collected near the Y(4S) resonance. We determine the first, the second central and the second non-central moments of this spectrum for lepton energy thresholds ranging between 0.7 and 1.9 GeV. Full correlations between these measurements are evaluated.Comment: published version of the paper (one figure added, minor changes in the text); 16 pages, 3 figures, 10 table

    Measurements of CP Violation in B0Dπ+B^0 \to D^{*-}\pi^+ and B0Dπ+B^0 \to D^- \pi^+ Decays

We report measurements of time dependent decay rates for B0D()π+B^0 \to D^{(*)-}\pi^+ decays and extraction of CP violation parameters that depend on ϕ3\phi_3. Using fully reconstructed D()πD^{(*)}\pi events and partially reconstructed DπD^{*}\pi events from a data sample that contains 386 million BBˉB\bar{B} pairs that was collected near the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance, with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+ee^+ e^- collider, we obtain the CP violation parameters S+(D()π)S^+ (D^{(*)}\pi) and S(D()π)S^- (D^{(*)}\pi). We obtain S+(Dπ)=0.049±0.020(stat)±0.011(sys)S^+ (D^* \pi) = 0.049 \pm 0.020(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.011(\mathrm{sys}), S(Dπ)=0.031±0.019(stat)±0.011(sys)S^- (D^* \pi) = 0.031 \pm 0.019(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.011(\mathrm{sys}), and S+(Dπ)=0.031±0.030(stat)±0.012(sys)S^+ (D \pi) = 0.031 \pm 0.030(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.012(\mathrm{sys}), S(Dπ)=0.068±0.029(stat)±0.012(sys)S^- (D \pi) = 0.068 \pm 0.029(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.012(\mathrm{sys}). These results are an indication of CP violation in B0Dπ+B^0 \to D^{*-}\pi^+ and B0Dπ+B^0 \to D^- \pi^+ decays at the 2.5σ2.5 \sigma and 2.2σ2.2 \sigma levels, respectively. If we use the values of RD()πR_{D^{(*)}\pi} that are derived using assumptions of factorization and SU(3) symmetry, the branching fraction measurements for the Ds()πD_s^{(*)} \pi modes, and lattice QCD calculations, we can restrict the allowed region of sin(2ϕ1+ϕ3)|\sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| to be above 0.44 and 0.52 at 68% confidence level from the DπD^* \pi and DπD \pi modes, respectively.Comment: 14 pages, 12 figures, submitted to Physical Review

    Search for B+ -> J/psi eta' K+ and B0 -> J/psi eta' Ks0 Decays

We report the results of searches for B+ -> J/psi eta' K+ and B0 -> J/psi eta' Ks0 decays, using a sample of 388 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. No statistically significant signal is found for either of the two decay modes and upper limits for the branching fractions are determined to be B(B+ -> J/psi eta' K+) < 8.8 x 10^-5 and B(B0 -> J/psi eta' Ks0) < 2.5 x 10^-5 at 90% confidence level.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, submitted to PRD Brief Repor

    Observation of the decay B0J/ψηB^0 \to J/\psi \eta

We report the first observation of B0J/ψηB^0 \to J/\psi \eta decay. These results are obtained from a data sample that contains 449 million BBˉB\bar{B} pairs accumulated at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+ e^- collider. We observe a signal with a significance of 8.1σ\sigma and obtain a branching fraction of (9.5 ±\pm 1.7 (stat) ±\pm 0.8 (syst))×106\times 10^{-6}.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, submit to PRL (8 pages, 2 figures, ICHEP'06 Conference Paper

Improved measurement of CP-violating parameters in rho+rho- decays

We present a measurement of the CP-violating asymmetry in rho+rho- decays using 535 million BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We measure CP-violating coefficients A = 0.16 +- 0.21(stat) +- 0.07 (syst) and S = 0.19 +- 0.30(stat) +- 0.07 (syst}. These values are used to determine the unitarity triangle angle phi_2 using an isospin analysis; the solution consistent with Standard Model lies in the range 53 < phi_2 < 114 deg. at 90 C.L.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, presented at JPS/DPF 2006 (Added KEK, BELLE preprint numbers, submitted to PRD(RC)

Time-Dependent CP Asymmetries in B0 -> Ks pi0 gamma transitions

We report measurements of CP violation parameters in B0->Ks pi0 gamma transitions based on a data sample of 535x10^6 BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider. One neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in the B0->Ks pi0 gamma mode. The flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. For a Ks pi0 invariant mass up to 1.8 GeV/c^2, we obtain S = -0.10 +- 0.31 +- 0.07 and A = -0.20 +- 0.20 +- 0.06. For a Ks pi0 invariant mass near the K*0(892) resonance, we obtain S = -0.32 +0.36-0.33 +-0.05 and A=-0.20 +-0.24 +-0.05.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, accepted by PR

Measurement of phi_3 with Dalitz plot analysis of B+ -> D(*)K(*)+ decay

We present a measurement of the unitarity triangle angle phi_3 using a Dalitz plot analysis of the K0_S pi+ pi- decay of the neutral D meson from the B+- -> D(*)K(*)+- process. The method employs the interference between D0 and D0bar to extract the angle phi_3, strong phase Delta and the ratio r of suppressed and allowed amplitudes. We apply this method to a 357 fb-1 data sample collected by the Belle experiment. The analysis uses three modes: B+ -> DK+, B+ -> D*K+ with D* -> Dpi0, and B+ -> DK*+ with K*+ -> K0_S pi+, as well as the corresponding charge-conjugate modes. From a combined maximum likelihood fit to the three modes, we obtain phi_3=53+15-18(stat)+-3(syst)+-9(model) degrees. The corresponding two standard deviation interval is 8<phi_3<111 degrees.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures, 7 tables. To be submitted to Phys. Rev.

Measurement of D0 -> pilnu (Klnu) Form Factors and Absolute Branching Fractions

Using a 282 1/fb data sample collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+e- collider, we study D0 decays to K-l+nu and pi-l+nu final states. The D0 flavor and momentum are tagged through a full reconstruction of the recoiling charm meson and additional mesons from fragmentation. The reconstruction method provides very good resolution in neutrino momentum and in q^2 = (p_l+p_nu)^2. Normalizing to the total number of D0 tags, we measure the absolute branching fractions to be B(D0 -> Klnu) =(3.45 +- 0.07stat +- 0.20syst)% and B(D0 -> pilnu) = (0.255 +- 0.019stat +- 0.016syst)% and the semi-leptonic form factors (within the modified pole model) f+^K(0) = 0.695 +- 0.007stat +- 0.022syst and f+^pi(0) = 0.624 +- 0.020stat +- 0.030syst.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys.
