Coupling of structure to magnetic and superconducting orders in quasi-one-dimensional K2Cr3As3\text{K}_2\text{Cr}_3\text{As}_3

Quasi-one-dimensional A2Cr3As3A_2\text{Cr}_3\text{As}_3 (with A=K, Cs, RbA = \text{K, Cs, Rb}) is an intriguing new family of superconductors which exhibit many similar features to the cuprate and iron-based unconventional superconductor families. Yet in contrast to these systems, no charge or magnetic ordering has been observed which could provide the electronic correlations presumed necessary for an unconventional superconducting pairing mechanism - an absence which defies predictions of first principles models. We report the results of neutron scattering experiments on polycrystalline K2Cr3As3\text{K}_2\text{Cr}_3\text{As}_3 (Tc7K)(T_c \sim 7\text{K}) which probed the low temperature dynamics near TcT_c . Neutron diffraction data evidence a strong response of the nuclear lattice to the onset of superconductivity while inelastic scattering reveals a highly dispersive column of intensity at the commensurate wavevector q=(0012)q = (00\frac{1}{2}) which loses intensity beneath TcT_c - indicative of short-range magnetic fluctuations. Using linear spin-wave theory we model the observed scattering and suggest a possible structure to the short-range magnetic order. These observations suggest that K2Cr3As3\text{K}_2\text{Cr}_3\text{As}_3 is in close proximity to a magnetic instability and that the incipient magnetic order both couples strongly to the lattice and competes with superconductivity - in direct analogy with the iron-based superconductors

Strictly localized bounding functions and Floquet boundary value problems

Semilinear multivalued equations are considered, in separable Ba-nach spaces with the Radon-Nikodym property. An effective criterion for the existence of solutions to the associated Floquet boundary value problem is showed. Its proof is obtained combining a continuation principle with a Liapunov-like technique and a Scorza-Dragoni type theorem. A strictly localized transversality condition is assumed. The employed method enables to localize the solution values in a not necessarily invariant set; it allows also to introduce nonlinearities with superlinear growth in the state variable

Environmental education about grassland biodiversity, pasture management and research social utility

Dry grassland ecosystems represent a fundamental resource of plant species richness and are defined as ‘habitat of priority importance’ for nature conservation by EU, in particular as orchid species concerns. Biodiversity conservation depends on key elements such as habitat productivity, plant species functional features, type of management, density and grazing behaviour of herbivores. Information about the aforementioned interactions can offer key knowledge to promote grassland biodiversity conservation and for management decision making, and may help to improve the governance of economic benefit as indicated by EU agricultural policies. In this perspective, the dissemination of information could be a paramount tool to understand the importance of environmental scientific researches for the territory development. In the Marche Region, the agri-environmental project for the biodiversity guardianship comes from the grassland research activities, provided economic aid to the farmer that manages the natural grassland systems in agreement with European Community guidelines for the biodiversity maintenance and the use of animals for habitat prevention/maintaining. Research projects have been turned into an environmental educational project aimed to educate and sensitise the primary school children to the environmental issues, in addition to show the social utility of research. Our environmental educational project was carried out by means of the following steps: - definition of biodiversity and ecosystem, - illustration of grassland plant and animal biodiversity, - biodiversity threats and their interplay with other environmental, social and economic issues, - example of research project leading with biodiversity conservation, animal welfare and zootechnic activities. Students of the first university degree in Natural and Environmental Sciences participated to the project with the aim to acquire specific competences about scientific dissemination. Children have shown great involvement and attention towards environmental problems
