Kundt spacetimes minimally coupled to scalar field
We derive an exact solution belonging to Kundt class of spacetimes both with
and without a cosmological constant that are minimally coupled to a free
massless scalar field. We show the algebraic type of these solutions and give
interpretation of the results. Subsequently, we look for solutions additionally
containing an electromagnetic field satisfying nonlinear field equations.Comment: updated to published versio
Ultrarelativistic boost with scalar field
We present the ultrarelativistic boost of the general global monopole
solution which is parametrized by mass and deficit solid angle. The problem is
addressed from two different perspectives. In the first one the primary object
for performing the boost is the metric tensor while in the second one the
energy momentum tensor is used. Since the solution is sourced by a triplet of
scalar fields that effectively vanish in the boosting limit we investigate the
behavior of a scalar field in a simpler setup. Namely, we perform the boosting
study of the spherically symmetric solution with a free scalar field given by
Janis, Newman and Winicour. The scalar field is again vanishing in the limit
pointing to a broader pattern of scalar field behaviour during an
ultrarelativistic boost in highly symmetric situations
Initial Presentation of HIV Infection With Two Successive Acute Arterial Thromboses: A Case Report.
IntroductionOne of the complications of HIV infection is greater risk of thromboembolic events. A variety of mechanisms has been found to be responsible for prothrombotic tendency in patients with HIV infection.Case presentationA 27-year-old heterosexual smoker man was referred to our center due to a sudden-onset severe left lower extremity pain and claudication since three days prior to admission. In physical examination, end extremity coldness and discoloration as well as left lower extremity pulselessness were found. Color-Doppler sonography revealed a large thrombus in the left common iliac artery and two thrombi in the distal halves of both anterior and posterior tibialis arteries, so the patient was transferred to the operating room for proximal thrombectomy where the blood flow was reestablished and all pulses were then detectable. Two days later, the patient developed another similar episode from knee down and underwent the second thrombectomy. In evaluation, HIV Ab had positive result by ELISA.ConclusionsThis case inspires consideration of HIV infection as a leading cause of thromboembolic event in individuals affected by the first episode of unprovoked one in whom diagnosis of HIV infection has not been established yet
Evaluating the Meetings Output of Educational Council and Departments in School of Health Management and Information Sciences: Content Analysis of Minutes
Introduction: This study analyzes the minutes of departments and educational council in Tehran University of Medical Sciences, School of Health Management and Information Sciences and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the departments meetings. Methods: This was a descriptive study. The study population was all minutes of departments in School of Health Management and Information Sciences in TUMS in 2004-2010. Minutes were transformed into digital format with a scanner. We used NVivo 8 software to codify and analyze the data. Results: Findings showed that in the meetings of both educational council and departments more attention was paid to the “thesis and proposal” and “educational issues”. Furthermore, each department had its own unique subjects which were not discussed in other departments. Conclusion: The chancellor at this school, deputy of dean and head of departments can use findings of current study to know the weaknesses of departments meetings and plan for better organization of weekly and monthly meetings in order to achieve the school goals and serve students better
