Inference of Personal Attributes from Tweets Using Machine Learning

Using machine learning algorithms, including deep learning, we studied the prediction of personal attributes from the text of tweets, such as gender, occupation, and age groups. We applied word2vec to construct word vectors, which were then used to vectorize tweet blocks. The resulting tweet vectors were used as inputs for training models, and the prediction accuracy of those models was examined as a function of the dimension of the tweet vectors and the size of the tweet blacks. The results showed that the machine learning algorithms could predict the three personal attributes of interest with 60-70% accuracy.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, Proceedings of the 2017 IEEE Big Dat

DNA's from human hepatoma and gastric cancer mitochondria

1. Mitochondria isolated from human liver, hepatoma and gastric cancer contain DNA. The DNA content per mitochondrial protein is about ten times as much in cancer as in normal liver. 2. Human liver, hepatoma and gastric cancer contain circular DNA molecules in their mitochondria. Circular DNAs from normal liver and cancer mitochondria are mostly about 5 μ long, and the frequency of circular DNAs of multiple or shorter length is higher in cancer mitochondrial DNA. The outline of the present paper was presented at the 26th Congress of Japanese Cancer Association (1967) (52, 53).</p

This research aims to clarify the differences of 2 UNESCO geological conservation programs, World heritage program and Global Geoparks program, in terms of their evaluation and monitoring system by organizing UNESCO official documents. In addition that, through the case study of Muroto grobal geopark, the author attempts to grab the perspectives toward geopark of local people related to geotourism. The data was collected through qualitative method using interviews with residents related to 3 geotourism in Muroto. In conclusion, in both programs, evaluations are performed by the professionals who have specific knowledge of geology and both are put importance on its outstanding value as geological sites. World heritage programs retain the continuous monitoring system which is operated cooperation with external NGOs, academia and scientific professionals throughout both online and onsite monitoring after inscription, on the other hand, global geoparks only perform its monitoring every 4 years through the onsite evaluation. Moreover, the interview appears the truth that some residents involve themselves into geotourism without knowing of geopark concepts and objectives. Involving not only geological aspects but wide range of perspectives like world heritage program might help to establish sustainable geoheritage activitis.Art and Design Research for Sustainable Development ; September 22, 2018Conference: Tsukuba Global Science Week 2018Date: September 20-22, 2018Venue: Tsukuba International Congress Center Sponsored: University of Tsukub

Different from mass-tour, ecotour claims for the balance of economic development and environment conservation, which attracted plenty of countries and areas to promote it. Since ecotour emphasize the protection of local nature and the participation of local residents, the local community is playing an important role in the whole ecotourism system. So in order to find out what factors make the ecotourism system sustains and how the system relates to community, local community organizations\u27 participative procedures and framework should be made clear. As a connection of ecotour and community, it is also required to assess the effects of community organizations so to meaaure the influence to community form ecotourism system. In this study, community organizations in the ecotourism system are taken as the main research object, reviewing their characteristic features in the system by analyzing their succession through literature research, and doing a interview to public servants so the relationship among community organizations and the role they playing in the whole ecotourism system can be clarified.Art and Design Research for Sustainable Development ; September 22, 2018Conference: Tsukuba Global Science Week 2018Date: September 20-22, 2018Venue: Tsukuba International Congress Center Sponsored: University of Tsukub

PARTICIPATION IN MUNICIPAL ADULT EDUCATION IN SWEDEN Why and How is the Second Chance Taken?

Aim: The aim of this study is to explore and describe how and why adults who have not fulfilled the current upper secondary education level become adult students in Swedish upper secondary municipal education, Komvux. Under this aim, there are two research questions: 1) why and how the adults decide to study in Komvux and 2) if they experience any barriers to participate in Komvux, if so how they overcome them. Theory: The study relies on theoretical framework of life history reserach. Bounded Agency Model and capability approach are applied as tools of analysis. Method: A life history approach has been used to examine five adult students’ experiences. Results: The results show that a main reason of participation is that the students expected that their studies in Komvux would lead to a new job. Most of the informants had a long term perspective to change their carrier and lifestyle. Using the capability approach (Sen, 1999), I analyzed that the informants had a limited capability for work. Different situations and transitions in life gave them opportunities to think about their future. The participation barriers that were experienced by my informants were 1) age, 2) lack of self-confidence, 3) time span, and 4) no clear purpose of study. These barriers were weakened through 1) encountering with new people and new values, 2) a transition in life that requires new needs, 3) having proper information about education, and 4) cultivating self-confidence. In relation to the Bounded Agency Model (Rubenson & Desjardins, 2009), I first analysed that the influence of the Swedish welfare state regime (Esping-Anderson, 1990) seems to have played a great role in weakening the participation barriers. Secondly, the primary reasons of why these adult students had not taken “the first chance” and needed the second chance were also bounded in the social context. Thirdly, the perceived value of the study in Komvux is continuously renewed and revised by reflecting the experience corresponding to life stage and new environment. The empirical knowledge of dynamic bounded agency described in my life history research contributes to an understanding of the Bounded Agency Model as a continuous and dynamic process of deciding to participate in adult education
