Constituent quark models and pentaquark baryons
We discuss certain general features of the pentaquark picture for the theta,
its 10bar_F partner, Xi_{3/2}, and possible heavy quark analogues. Models
employing spin-dependent interactions based on either effective Goldstone boson
exchange or effective color magnetic exchange are also used to shed light on
possible corrections to the Jaffe-Wilczek and Karliner-Lipkin scenarios. Some
model-dependent features of the pentaquark picture (splitting patterns and

Conductance through the disclination dipole defect in metallic carbon nanotubes
The electronic transport properties of a metallic carbon nanotube with the
five-seven disclination pair characterized by a lattice distortion vector are
investigated. The influence of the disclination dipole includes induced
curvature and mixing of two sublattices. Both these factors are taken into
account via a self-consistent perturbation approach. The conductance and the
Fano factor are calculated within the transfer-matrix technique. PACS:

Kondo effect in a one dimensional d-wave superconductor
We derive a solvable resonant-level type model, to describe an impurity spin
coupled to zero-energy bound states localized at the edge of a one dimensional
d-wave superconductor. This results in a two-channel Kondo effect with a quite
unusual low-temperature thermodynamics. For instance, the local impurity
susceptibility yields a finite maximum at zero temperature (but no
logarithmic-divergence) due to the splitting of the impurity in two Majorana
fermions. Moreover, we make comparisons with the Kondo effect occurring in a

Blue frontiers: managing the environmental costs of aquaculture
The report begins with an overview of the current status of world aquaculture. It then goes on to describe an approach for estimating the current combined biophysical resource demands of aquaculture for producer countries and regions. Following a comparison of these results with those available for other animal food production sectors the report then examines the consequences of likely future trends in production on the environmental impacts of aquaculture. Reconstructed Jets at RHIC
To precisely measure jets over a large background such as pile up in high
luminosity p+p collisions at LHC, a new generation of jet reconstruction
algorithms is developed. These algorithms are also applicable to reconstruct
jets in the heavy ion environment where large event multiplicities are
produced. Energy loss in the medium created in heavy ion collisions are already
observed indirectly via inclusive hadron distributions and di-hadron
correlations. Jets can be used to study this energy loss in detail with reduced
biases. We review the latest results on jet-medium interactions as seen in A+A
collisions at RHIC, focusing on the recent progress on jet reconstruction in

Recent results on the search for continuous sources with LIGO and GEO600
An overview of the searches for continuous gravitational wave signals in LIGO
and GEO 600 performed on different recent science runs and results are
presented. This includes both searching for gravitational waves from known
