PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF FIELD WORK TRAINING IN SOCIAL WORK EDUCATION: A REVIEW
Abstract:
Social work students generally considered field work training as the most important component in their professional education. In social work curriculum, practice and knowledge (theory) are two integral components in the curriculum, and yet they are often regarded as separate and so some extent antithetical (the theoretical†vs. the practicalâ€). A unique feature of fieldwork training is that training and practice take place in the same place. Hence, students are not learning about†a practice as is the case in classroom instruction but learning in†practice. Field placement is one of the most exciting and exhilarating parts of a formal social work education. It is also one of the most challenging. More than anything else, it requires students to look inside themselves and examine themselves as future social workers. However, most of the time, the students will feel better equipped for their professional career after finishing their practicum. The field work goal is to develop the student's competence in the practice of social work. Field education is an experiential form of teaching and learning that takes place in a service setting. Field work practices offered the most opportunity to understand the requirements of the people in the background of prevailing cultural traditions and values and thereby, offered opportunities to indigenize practice. It also gave opportunities for innovation. Thus, the present paper highlights and reviews on the challenges and prospects of field work training in Social Work education
A state space model for inflation
Evidence has shown that the constant parameter assumption in Wilkie's Inflation model may be too restrictive. In this work we investigate the model proposed by Arsad (1999), where the mean level of inflation is assume to follow an AR(1) process. We compare the result obtained when prior knowledge of the initial parameter state is assumed known thus Bayesian analysis is applied and that obtained using classical approach
Design of client aware scheduler for XEN with enhanced techniques to improve cloud performance
Thesis (M.S.)--Wichita State University, College of Engineering, Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer ScienceInfrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in cloud provides ample scope for various high volume
applications to be run on the servers across the WAN, availing a fair service to the end clients.
Many effective schedulers have been designed to consider the contention of the computational
and communicational resources, which provide a guaranteed effectiveness for resource sharing.
However, the vast diversity of client devices in a cloud demand scheduling based on their
features and capabilities. Mobile clients, workstations, laptops, PDAs and thin clients in the
cloud vary in aspects such as processing power, screen size, battery life, geographical distance
and many. Algorithms in the cloud, which are based on client capabilities result in many
consumer benefits such as network load balancing, saving battery, reducing latency, efficient
processing. In this thesis, the authors propose a client aware credit scheduler for virtualized
server setup in a cloud that schedules the client requests based on the client device features and
capabilities. Rich Internet Applications (RIA) is proposed, in order for the server to realize the
client device capabilities such as the type of client, the battery remaining and the location of the
client. Results show that the client-aware credit scheduler is effective in terms of saving energy
and reducing response latency

UNSTEADY MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC CONVECTIVE BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW ALONG A VERTICAL PLATE FOR VARIOUS PHYSICAL AND BOUNDARY CONDITIONS
The study of natural convection along a vertical plate is of great interest in many applications ranging from small electronic components to huge nuclear reactors. Moreover, with the rising demands of modern technology, nanofluids have potential applications in various fields of heat transfer such as industrial coolants, smart fluids, nuclear reactors coolant, extraction of geothermal power, nanofluids in automobile fuels, brake fluids, car radiator coolant, microelectronics cooling, bio, and pharmaceutical industry. This thesis is focused on the investigation of an unsteady magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) natural convective boundary-layer flow along a vertical plate for various physical and boundary conditions. The boundary layer analysis is employed and the resulting dimensionless coupled linear partial differential equations are solved using the Laplace transform technique and the non-linear partial differential equations are solved by Crank–Nicolson implicit finite-difference method. Numerical results are presented in graphs to show the effects of the pertinent controlling parameters on the dimensionless velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles as well as on the skin-friction, rate of heat and mass transfer. The influence of the thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number, magnetic field parameter, Prandtl number, heat generation/absorption parameter, Dufour number, Schmidt number, chemical reaction parameter, Soret number, radiation parameter, viscous dissipation, and Joule heating are discussed in detail. It is observed that an increase in the Soret number and radiation parameter leads to decrease in the rate of mass transfer whereas, the rate of heat transfer decreases with increasing Dufour number and Schmidt number. The rate of heat transfer decreases with increasing magnetic field while it increases with increasing nanoparticle volume fraction. Further, it is noticed that the copper-water nanofluid exhibits a higher heat transfer rate as compared to the silver-water nanofluid for transient free convection nanofluid flow along a semi-infinite vertical plate

Unsteady Magnetohydrodynamic Free Convection Flow of a Radiative Fluid Past an Infinite Vertical Plate with Constant Heat and Mass Flux
Theoretical analysis of unsteady magnetohydrodynamic free convection flow of a viscous incompressible radiative fluid past an infinite vertical plate with constant heat and mass flux is presented. The dimensionless governing linear partial differential equations have been solved using the Laplace transform technique. The exact solutions for the velocity, temperature and concentration fields are derived. The effects of radiation, magnetic field and buoyancy ratio parameters on the velocity and temperature fields are discussed through graphs. It is found that the velocity increases with increasing radiation parameter whereas it decreases with increasing magnetic field parameter for buoyancy assisted flows.</jats:p
