Protein separation using membrane-encapsulated soluble ligand conjugates
A new approach for isolating and recovering biological macromolecules using membrane-encapsulated soluble ligand conjugates was investigated. Membrane-encapsulated solid adsorbents have been successfully developed and employed in our laboratory to isolate and purify proteins and enzymes directly from culture broths. This new concept also makes it possible to use soluble ligand conjugates instead of solid adsorbents inside membrane capsules. In this work, model membrane-encapsulated soluble and insoluble ligands comprising Blue Dextran and Blue Sepharose entrapped within calcium alginate membranes were studied to compare adsorption characteristics such as capacities and rates. Experimental results suggest that membrane-encapsulated soluble ligands may be expected to result in higher overall adsorption capacity compared to membrane-encapsulated solid adsorbents with comparable adsorption rates.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/28604/1/0000413.pd
Partitioning of industrial cellulase in aqueous two-phase systems from Trichoderma viride QM9414
The partition of cellulase from Trichoderma viride in aqueous two-phase systems has been investigated with the purpose of designing a phase system for the bioconversion of cellulose. The partitioning of the enzyme in the two-phase systems composed of various water-soluble polymeric compounds, and the influence of polymer molecular mass on polymer concentration are studied. Systems based on dextran and polyethylene glycol (PEG) proved to be optimal for partitioning the enzyme to the bottom phase which is rich in dextran T500. Cellulases produced by Trichoderma vir ide grown on Solka-Floc BW200 were fractionated by ammonium sulphate (50%) and purified by chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex A50. The overall purification steps showed a protein reduction of 97% of the original protein content of the culture filtrate. On the other hand, the specific activity (FPU) was increased 24-fold. In optimization experiments, the maximum enzyme activity was found at pH 4.8 when incubated at 28 degreesC for 11 days. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved

They define themselves as non-consumers : A qualitative study of four women's individual stance regarding their consumption habits
For this study, I have interviewed four women about consumption, what they all have in common is that they identify themselves as “köpstoppare. The purpose is to find out what it is they do when they “köpstoppar”. I have asked them how they define consumption, and it appears that they do not perceive all forms of consumption as consumption. I have also guided the conversations on how they view status linked to consumption and how they feel that their social relationships are affected by their changing consumption patterns. The study shows that “köpstopp” is something more than my informants stopping consuming with money. What their actions are about is an individual stance on how they want to manage their time, their finances and their relationships

Gender and Screenwriting in Sweden
