    This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of alkalinity on the survival rate and daily growth rate of Barbodes sp. The fishes were reared in 12 aquariums with four different alkalinity levels 48, 78, 108 and 138 ppm. Each aquarium filled with 10 fish at the average weight of 12.25 to 12.64 g attempt. The treatment lasted for 75 days. During the experiment, the fish were given commercial diet (pellet) with the dose of 5% of biomass weight at the frequency of three times a day. Result of the experiment showed that the survival rate for all treatments was 100%, while the alkalinity which suitable for daily growth rate of the fish was 80 ppm C\u27aCO

    Disqualified tiger prawn broodstock is the one that has undergone ablation after two breeding periodes, which causes high production cost, pollution of environment and difficulties in providing it continuously with enough quantity at exact time. The purpose of this study is to find the proper dosage of dopamine which will give good quality for breeding of the disqualified tiger prawn, because dopamine inhibits maturation, so it has enough time for maturation and can be improved the eggs quality. This experiment used 15 pairs the twice breeding tiger prawn, which is taken from Perigi (Central Java). The sample were treated with difference dosage of dopamine (dosage 10-9 , 10-8, 10-7, 10-6 moll and control/injected by aquabidest). The parameters were identified in this experiment are duration (days) for eggs maturation, fecundity, fertilizing rate, hatching rate, egg diameter and phototaxis respnnsive of the nauplii. The result of this research are the of the average of duration for eggs maturation on the broodstock that were injected dopamine, dosage 10-9 , 10-8, 10-7, 10-6 moll and control , were 14, 12, 4, 2, 5 days. Fecundity 561.489, 503.000, 384.205, 230.850 and 150.034. Fertilizing rate 89,8 %, 82,1 %, 56.0 %, 46,3 %, and 23,2 %. Hatching rate 79,53%, 72,53%, 47,75%, 12,27%, and 36.6% . Diameter 0,29; 0,29; 0,29; 0,27; and 0,27mm. The nauplii that had produced by injected broodstock by dosage 10-9 , 10-8, 10-7, have the positive phototaxis responsive while dosage 10-6 and control were weak

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis optimal Inhibitor Aromatase (IA) pada perkembangan oosit ikan mas koki. Dosis yang digunakan adalah k = kontrol (disuntik NaCl fisiologis), Pl = 2.5 mg/kg berat tubuh (b.t), P2 = 7.5 mg/kg b.t., dan P3 = 12.5 mg/kg b.t. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh IA terhadap perkembangan gonad diukur kandungan hormon estradiol-l7β dalam plasma darah dan level protein gonad mulai dari awal perlakukan kemudian setiap tujuh hari sekali, yaitu hari ke-7, ke-14, dan ke-21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pada hari ke-7 hasil semua perlakuan P1, P2, P3 menunjukkan penurunan hormon estradiol- 17β diikuti penurunan level protein gonad, hasil analisis pengamatan histologi menunjukkan terjadi atresi pada sel gonad. Pada hari ke-14 kadar hormon estradiol-17β perlakuan menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan diikuti peningkatan level protein gonad. Pada hari ke-21 kadar hormon estradiol-17β perlakuan sudah sama dengan kadar hormon kontrol namun level protein gonad masih dibawah level protein gonad kontrol

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebiasaan makan tiram mutiara Pintada maxima. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Juni 2003 sampai Februari 2004 di perairan Teluk Sekotong Propinsi Lombok. Pengambilan contoh fitoplankton di perairan dilakukan setiap 3 jam sekali selama 24 jam antara pukul 06.00 - 03.00 WIB. Pada setiap pemgamatan diambil sebanyak 8 ekor tiram mutiara untuk sekali pengamatan. Untukmemperoleh gambaran kebiasaan makan tiram mutiara dilakukan analisis indeks pilihan. Pintada maxima memakan semua fitoplankton yang ada di lingkungannya. Tiram mutiara tidak melakukan seleksi terhadap jenis makanannya yang terdapat di alam, tetapi menyeleksi makanannya berdasarkan ukuran makanannya. Tiram mutiara menyukai makanan yang memiliki ukuran lebih kecil. Persentase jenis-jenis fitoplanktonyang disukai tiram mutiara berturut-turut adalah kelas Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae, Ciliata, Chrisophyta, Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae dan moluska

    This research has been conducted at the laboratory of in vitro fertilization of the University ofWisconsin, USA. These embryos may be used for improving genetic value of Indonesian cattle. Ovaries were collected from slaughterhouse in Wisconsin. Oocytes were matured in TCM-199 medium enriched with FSH 10 \i\lm\, estradiol 17 P lul/ml and 10 % FCS for 20 hours. The oocytes were fertilized in vitro with motile sperm selected and capacitated by using the percoll gradient with 2 ml vs 0.5 ml per layer as treatment A and B respectively. Sperm and oocytes were incubated in fertilization medium (mTALP) for 20 hours. All zygotes were cultured in CRlaa medium up to btastocyst stage and were fed with serum 5 \iV 50 )j.l in culture medium on day 6. Percentages of cleavage, morula, blastocyst, expanded blastocyst, unfertilized and degenerated ova in this study were 86.3 vs 91.6 %, 53.3 % vs 75.9 %; 32.6 % vs 63.4 %; 21.1 % vs 33.0 %; 13.7 % vs 8.4 %, 32.9% vs 15.6 % for treatment A (n=1007) vs B (n=1055), respectively. Based on result of this study, it is concluded that the best method for IVP (in vitro production) of cattle embryos is using percoll gradient with 500 ul per layer

    Effect of LH-RHa Injection trough W/O/W LG (C-14) Emulsion on Gonad Development of Catfish (Pangasious hypophthalmus)

    The objective of this research was to study the effect of LHRHa gonad maturity in broodstock of P. hypophthalmus through W/O/W LG (C-14) emulsion injection. The treatments consisted of control (A), 50 µg/kg fish wight (B), and 100 µg/kg fish weight (C), with five replications of each. Fish weight at the beginning of experiment was 2.0 kg/individual. The result showed that LHRHa in W/O/W emulsion had positive effect on egg maturation. This was shown by the value of average of eggs diameter. The maximum size of egg diameter for fish 701.52 ± 17.56 µm. The size of eggs was more homogenous in group B than those of group C and A. it was concluded that injection of LHRHa in W/O/W LG (C-14) emulsion if effective in promoting gonad maturation and oocyte development in the catfis

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan pengaruh pemberian ekstrak hipofisis ikan mas terhadap pematangan gonad ikan sidat tropis betina (Anguilla bicolor bicolor). Ikan sidat dengan bobot 600 gram telah digunakan sebagai materi biologis. Ekstrak hipofisis ikan mas dengan tingkat 0, ¼ dan ½ dosis dan tiga tipe frekuensi penyuntikan yakni setiap 1, 2 dan 3 minggu dijadikan sebagai perlakuan. Parameter yang diamati adalah Gonado somatic index (GSI), Hepatosomatic index (HSI), diameter folikel, kadar lemak dalam folikel, serta kadar glikokonjugat dalam folikel dan hati. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa penyuntikan ekstrak hipofisis ikan mas dengan ½ dosis yang dilakukan setiap minggu selama 10 minggu memberikan pengaruh yang terbaik.Kata kunci: gonad, sidat, Anguilla bicolor bicolor
