The Rights of the Child forgotten in Italy’s coronavirus emergency
The coronavirus emergency radically changes our habits and way of life, and clearly
highlight the inadequacy of our decision-making apparatus and the latent injustices in society. The
paper focuses on the failure consideration of the needs and rights of the Child in the urgent decrees
implemented by the Italian Government and by the most affected Regions of the peninsula.
In a general context in which the perception of the danger activates regressive mechanisms at
a social level (such as the search for the scapegoat and the polarization of the behaviours of the
citizens), one would expect that the ruling classes maintain rationality and foresight in management
of the crisis. Moreover, a scarce "widespread pedagogical culture" which generated the complete
removal of the child and educational issue from the political agenda and from public discourse up to
the present day. The question of the relationship between education and democracy and the education
as a community task must be reconsider as a prior topic for our society, as John Dewey taught
The challenge of “rationality” and “commitment” within “Pedagogical Problematicism” paradigm
The thought of Giovanni Maria Bertin and the “Pedagogical Problematicism” approach he forged, aims to es-
tablish “the education challenge” as an essential issue for the whole of society. Studies adopting Problematicism
as their theoretical framework build upon or argue in favour of two core notions: “rationality”, conceived of as
a methodological horizon (i.e., a guideline for conferring meaning on education); and “commitment”, con-
ceived of as fundamental to an ethical and political vision of education. Like other deleterious effects of global-
isation, the coronavirus pandemic poses new questions to both education professionals and scholars, providing
us with new and urgent issues to be analysed from the viewpoint of Problematicism. In the contemporary sce-
nario, Pedagogy should be considered as an authoritative reference in the public debate, as a discipline capable
of (re)orienting educational practices towards more autonomous and critical thought and as a scientific disci-
pline at least as influential as the other human sciences. The following three sections included in the Issue intro-
duction, aim to highlight the categories of Bertin’s philosophy of education by applying them to contemporary
dilemmas and emergencies. In the first one (Towards a new Problematicism) Massimo Baldacci underlines the
connection between Antonio Banfi’s and Berti’s thoughts as references to read the contemporary education
dilemmas. The second one by Maurizio Fabbri (Experience and reality. Epistemological and political implications
of the concept of reason in Antonio Banfi and his reasons for actuality) has focused on the connection be-
tween Pedagogical Problematicism and politics. In the third one (What use for pedagogical problematicism in
2022? Problematicism and uncertainty against polarizations and binary thought) Alessandro Tolomelli uses the
Problematicism approach to read two typical bias of the contemporary main stream way of thinking as the polarization and binarism tendency
The Stress and its Influence on the Health of the Nursing Professionals: The Case of Preceptors of a Clinical School
Abstract: This research aims to study the conditions that lead to stress and their influence on the health of nurses in a clinical preceptors nursing school of a private Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Having objectives as: Describing the conditions that generate stress in the work environment of nurses and tutors and analyze the influence on the health of these professionals. Methodology: A qualitative exploratory study. For data collection we used a scripted semi structured interview. The subjects were 07 nurses preceptors who work at a clinic in al HEI school, corresponding to 78% of these professionals in the studied environment. The results showed that the stress response is an individual process and that for some workers, the perception and aggravations are higher. This research adds to other studies and confirms that stress can be a factor triggering various diseases. . The discourses analyzed showed two categories, the first being: Recognizing the sources of stress that included three subcategories: bullying, salary and workload and the second category: the influence on health due to the factors causing stress. It is important to highlight that within this context, it is noted the need for tracing strategies through the collaborative initiative involving the entire academic institution, requiring not only the knowledge of the factors causing stress, as well as the adoption of preventive measures of this problem, increasing the recognition and appreciation of the professional and seeking ways to improve the quality of life of its workers
The concept of “Anthropocene” has been enlightening the role of the human being about the epochal changes that the
planet has undergone from the industrial revolution to nowadays. The Anthropocene in its various forms confronts us
with the possibility of the end of humanity. What makes it difficult to counter this prefiguration is the fact that we do
not perceive the possibility of changing the development model, of changing direction, as Morin would say, because
this destiny has been transmitted to us like the air we breathe, like a zeitgeist that we take for granted rather than as a
historical phenomenon that had a beginning and can have an end. This is why the challenge is first of all rational and
requires educators to develop the possibility of a different orientation from the dominant one in order to be able to act
in a divergent direction with respect to the idea of immutable destiny. Therefore, Pedagogy can contribute to develop a
different approach to this question that is no longer just a passive complaint, but an active oppositio
From green innovations in oligopeptide to oligonucleotide sustainable synthesis: differences and synergies in TIDES chemistry
The growing market for therapeutic peptides and oligonucleotides (TIDES) draws attention towards their manufacture, aiming at efficient and sustainable productive processes in view of the predicted massive application of these molecules in several therapeutic areas in the near future. A comparative assessment of the principal innovations in the synthesis of these molecules is described herein, with a major focus on solid-phase synthesis (SPS), describing particularly the less-explored field of solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis (SPOS). A head-to-head analysis of SPS techniques applied to peptides and oligonucleotides was performed, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of these iterative synthetic approaches. The green innovations introduced in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), namely reduction or replacement with greener alternatives of solvents and reagents, and implementations in purification techniques, were reviewed and projected to potential targets and sustainable practices in modern SPOS, including their application in P(v) chemistry for the synthesis of stereopure oligonucleotides. By a comparative analysis, the key elements for the development of overall green procedures for oligonucleotide manufacturing were emphasized. In addition, due to the intrinsically more sustainable profile of liquid-phase synthetic techniques (LPS), recent advancements in the field reported for both TIDES were analyzed to prove the industrial interest in the manufacturing of these classes of molecules, underlining the importance of investment and modernization in the development of stronger and greener synthetic pathways
Thinking the History of Women’s Activism into Global Labor History
The thirteen critical and well-documented chapters of Women, Work, and Activism examine women’s labor struggle from late nineteenth-century Portuguese mutual societies to Yugoslav peasant women’s work in the 1930s, and from the Catalan labor movement under the Franco dictatorship to workplace democracy in the United States. The authors portray women’s labor activism in a wide variety of contexts including transnational organizing, feminist engagement with men-dominated trade unionism, long-distance migration, and the socialist workplace. The chapters address the involvement of working people in multiple and often unstable labor relations and in unpaid labor, as well as the role of the state and other institutions in shaping the history of women’s labor activism
Copper-Free Heck−Cassar−Sonogashira and Suzuki−Miyaura Reactions of Aryl Chlorides: A Sustainable Approach
Sustainable and efficient aryl halides with copper free Heck−Cassar−Sonogashira (HCS) and Suzuki−Miyaura
(SM) cross-coupling reactions were described. Independently
from the aryl chloride substituents, the green protocol based on
N-hydroxyethylpyrrolidone (HEP)/water as solvents and sodium
2′-dicyclohexylphosphino-2,6-dimethoxy-1,1′-biphenyl-3-sulfonate
(sSPhos) as ligand afforded the target products with a high
turnover number (TON), high reaction mass efficiency (RME),
and low process mass intensity (PMI). The best results have been
obtained with TMG and Cs2CO3 as the base for the HCS and
Cs2CO3 and K2CO3 for the SM coupling. The PMI and RME
achieved are among the best in the field and allowed us to simplify
purification processes that are critical for industrial applications
