Thermal Properties of High Power Laser Bars Investigated by Spatially Resolved Thermoreflectance Spectroscopy

In this work we present results of the analysis of thermal properties of high-power laser bars obtained by spatially resolved thermoreflectance (TR) spectroscopy. Thermoreflectance is a modulation technique relying on periodic facet temperature modulation induced by pulsed current supply of the laser. The periodic temperature change of the laser induces variation of the refractive index and consequently modulates probe beam reflectivity. The technique has a spatial resolution of about ~1 μ\mum and can be used for temperature mapping over 300 μ\mum x 300 μ\mum area. Information obtained in these experiments provide an insight into thermal processes occurring at devices' facets and consequently lead to increased reliability and substantially longer lifetimes of such structures.Comment: Submitted on behalf of TIMA Editions (http://irevues.inist.fr/tima-editions

    Eg versus x relation from photoluminescence and electron microprobe investigations in p-type Hg1−xCdxTe (0.35 =< x =< 0.7)

Combined photoluminescence (at 10 T 300 K) and electron microprobe investigations have been carried out with HgCdTe samples grown from the melt or from solution. By exciting the samples through metallic masks with 200 μm diameter holes fixed with respect to the sample care was taken to pick-up both characteristic X-ray radiation as well as the photoluminescence from the same sample area. The Eg versus x relation determined in this way at T = 30 K has been compared with data from the interband absorption edge by other authors

    Therapeutic Challenges Of Multi-Being

This paper emerges from an attempt to shift the locus of understanding human action from the individual to relationship. In doing so we come to see persons as multi-beings, that is, as constituted within multiple relationships from which they emerge with multiple, incoherent, and often conflicting potentials. Therapy, in this context, becomes a collaborative relationship with the aim of transforming the client\u27s broader relational network. In this view, schooling in a singular practice of therapy artificially limits the therapist\u27s potential, and thus the possible outcomes of the client–therapist relationship. Invited, then, is a reflective eclecticism, in which the myriad potentials of both the therapist and client are considered in tandem. This view is illustrated by contrasting three relational conditions in which clients find themselves, each of which invites a different form of self-expression from the therapist

GaAs/GaP quantum dots: Ensemble of direct and indirect heterostructures with room temperature optical emission

We describe the optical emission and the carrier dynamics of an ensemble of self-assembled GaAs quantum dots embedded in GaP(001). The QD formation is driven by the 3.6 % lattice mismatch between GaAs and GaP in Stranski-Krastanow mode after deposition of more than 1.2 monolayers of GaAs. The quantum dots have an areal density between 6 and 7.6x1010 per cm-2 and multimodal size distribution. The luminescence spectra show two peaks in the range of 1.7 and 2.1 eV. The samples with larger quantum dots have red emission and show less thermal quenching compared to the samples with smaller QDs. The large QDs luminescence up to room temperature. We attribute the high energy emission to indirect carrier recombination in the thin quantum wells or small strained quantum dots, whereas the low energy red emission is due to the direct electron-hole recombination in the relaxed quantum dots.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
