Exploratory predictive and prognostic factors in advanced breast cancer treated with metronomic chemotherapy. Anticancer Drugs
Primary adenocarcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract showing a diffuse thyroid transcription factor-1 (TTF-1)-positive immunostaining are extremely uncommon and this finding in the biopsy specimen could yield to misleading diagnosis of a metastatic lung tumor. We report the clinical and pathological features of 2 cases, occurring in a 62-year-old woman and in a 66-year-old man. The first one is a gastric adenocarcinoma with liver metastasis; the other one is a gallbladder adenocarcinoma discovered during the screening for the colorectal cancer. Both the neoplasms showed a diffuse TTF-1 positivity and both the patients did not have any evidence of lung cancer. Neither a gastric adenocrcinoma with diffuse TTF-1 expression nor a TTF-1-positive gallbladder adenocarcinoma has been described befor

Psychometric properties of the Brazilian Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale – Short Version (IUS-12)
Understanding how people forget is one of the fundamental goals of the science of memory. Recent studies indicate that humans can voluntarily regulate awareness of unwanted memories by stopping the retrieval process that would ordinarily bring past experience into awareness. Event-related potential (ERP) research on memory retrieval reveals that electrophysiological effects with specific timing and scalp topography serve as markers of memory processes. This systematic review examines the literature regarding EEG alterations in memory suppression, highlighting their results on electrophysiological indicators. A systematic review from January 2007 to November 2017 was conducted using PubMed, Embase and ScienceDirect databases. As results, 12 studies were eligible for inclusion. Quantitative EEG can be a objective tool for studying the mechanisms involved in memory suppression. There is evidence that a parietal positivity around 400-800ms after cue presentation is an ERP marker of conscious recollection during memory retrieval and a larger N2 deflection during retrieval suppression predicted greater suppression-induced forgetting

Effects of the Ratio between Pigment and Bleaching Gel on the Fracture Resistance and Dentin Microhardness of endodontically treated Teeth
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of bleaching gel using 35% hydrogen peroxide (HP), associated with red carmine pigment (RC), in the 3:1 or 1:1 ratio, on fracture resistance and dentin microhardness of endodontically treated teeth. Materials and methods: A total of 40 lower incisors were endodontically treated and divided into four groups (n = 10), according to the bleaching protocol: G1 (HP3), 35% HP + RC (3:1); G2 (HP1), 35% HP + RC (1:1); G3 (positive), 38% HP; and G4 (negative), unbleached. Four dental bleaching sessions were performed. The dental crowns were restored after the last session and submitted to the fracture resistance test. Totally, 60 specimens from the endodontically treated lower incisor crowns were prepared to evaluate the effects on dentin microhardness. The analysis was measured (in Knoop) prior to and after the last dental bleaching session using similar bleaching protocols. Results: G2 presented the lowest fracture resistance (p 0.05). No difference was observed in the reduction of dentin microhardness among the groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion:A 1:1 ratio (bleaching gel:pigment) caused a significant fracture resistance reduction in relation to the other protocols. No effect on the dentin microhardness reduction was observed. Clinical significance: The pigment addition to the bleaching agent accelerates the bleaching chemical reaction. However no studies have evaluated the ideal proportion to optimize tooth bleaching.Department of Dentistry UNESPDepartment of Postgraduate in Dentistry CEUMA UniversityDepartment of Postgraduate Programme Integrated Dental Sciences University of CuiabaDepartment of Dentistry UNES
An Atypical Case of Partial Displacement and Wash-out of the Mineral Trioxide Aggregate-based Sealer in Endodontic Surgery
This clinical report described an atypical case where the mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA)-based sealer added with 20% calcium hydroxyde was used for retrograde filling. The patient was subjected to endodontic surgery to remove persistent apical lesion. After the apicoetomy and apical cavity preparation using an ultrasonic device, MTA-based sealer (MTA Fillapex) added with 20% calcium hydroxide (w/w) was used for retrograde filling. After 48 hours, the radiographic analysis showed partial displacement and wash-out of sealer. The case was only clinically controlled and no surgery was performed. After 10 months, the postoperative control showed reduction of periapical radiolucent image and absence of symptoms, radiographic and clinical signs, presented bone periradicular repair showing partial absence of the sealer in cavity retrograde.Department of Restorative Dentistry Araraquara Dental School Univ Estadual PaulistaDepartment of Integrated Dental Science University of CuiabaCEUMA University Department of Integrated Dental Science University of CuiabaDepartment of Restorative Dentistry Araraquara Dental School Univ Estadual Paulist
Nd:Yag Laser to obtain Irregularities on the Inner Surface of Porcelain
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the inner surface of two ceramic systems: IPS Empress II (Ivoclar Vivadent, Germany) and In-Ceram Alumina (Vita Zahnfabrick, Germany) submitted to surface treatments, especially by Nd:YAG laser. Materials and methods: Fifty samples were prepared in pellet form for each ceramic system according to manufacturers’ specifications. The samples were stored at room temperature and then be subjected to surface treatment: without treatment (T0) (control), hydrofluoric acid-etched (T1), hydrofluoric acidetched associated with the airborne particle-abraded (T2); CoJet system (T3), Nd:YAG laser (T4). The data were performed the statistical analysis by ANOVA and Tukey’s test (p<0.001). Results: The group control (T0) of the ceramics, the analysis showed the lowest roughness values; for the System Alumina In-Ceram, treatment with hydrofluoric acid (T1), associated with hydrofluoric acid and airborne particle-abraded (T2) and Nd:YAG laser (T4), had no statistically significant difference, whereas for the IPS Empress System II treatment with hydrofluoric acid (T1) and hydrofluoric acid associated with airborne particle-abraded (T2), had no statistically significant difference between the system and also CoJet (T3) and hydrofluoric acid associated with the airborne particle-abraded (T2). Photomicrographs of scanning electron microscopy showed different characteristics to the treatments for each ceramic system. Conclusion: The IPS Empress II had the appearance of favoring the retention when treated with hydrofluoric acid, as well as its association with the airborne particle-abraded. Uncertainty in Alumina, treatment with hydrofluoric acid associated with the airborne particle-abraded and CoJet system and provided a surface with irregularities. With respect to the laser further studies should be performed for parameters that are ideal for your application. Clinical relevance: The ceramic restorations are attractive due of their excellent esthetics and the ability to stay for long periods. However, the retention of ceramic requires further study.Department of Restorative Dentistry Universidade Estadual Paulista, São PauloDepartment of Postgraduate Program in Dentistry CEUMA University, MADepartment of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics MS Ramaiah Dental College and Hospital, KarnatakaDepartment of Dentistry University of Cuiaba Postgraduation in Integrated Sciences, MTDepartment of Restorative Dentistry Universidade Estadual Paulista, São Paul
