The mediating effect of green innovation on the relationship between green supply chain management and environmental performance
The emerging environmental awareness of the public, as well as the implementation of governmental regulations, force organisations to employ corporate environmental practices such as green supply chain management (GSCM) and green innovation. Accordingly, both practices are crucial to achieve professional improvement in the environmental performance of these organisations. However, research on the relationship of GSCM, green innovation, and environmental performance is relatively rare. Therefore, this study is aimed to provide empirical evidence showing that GSCM and green innovation practices significantly improve environmental performance in order to encourage organisations to implement these practices. In addition, this study investigates the relationship between GSCM and green innovation practices and the influence of these practices on the environmental performance in 123 manufacturing organisations with ISO 14001 certification. The results of PLS-SEM revealed that there is a significant and positive relationship between GSCM and green innovation, and the environmental performance. Moreover, green innovation had a positive effect on the environmental performance. Furthermore, green innovation had a mediating relationship between GSCM and environmental performance. Therefore, the present paper confirmed the significant influence of GSCM on boosting the green innovation of organisations and on the manufacturing establishments, which eventually improve the environment. In brief, the outcomes of this study provide enhanced understanding about the significant role of green innovation in the manufacturers for improving their GSCM and organisational environmental performance
Analytic Hierarchy Process Applied to Supply Chain Management
Resource allocation (RA) and supplier selection (SS) are two major decision problems regarding supply chain management (SCM). A supply chain manager may solve these problems by considering a single criterion, for instance, costs, customer satisfaction, or delivery time. Applying analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the supply chain manager may combine such criteria to enhance a compromised solution. This chapter presents AHP applications to solve two real SCM problems faced by Brazilian companies: one problem regarding the RA in the automotive industry and another one to SS in a chemical corporation
Multi-criteria assessment of education on supply chain management
The expected investment in education programs to allow, for instance, the development of knowledge and skills of employees related to the improvement and mastery of SCM functions. This work describes a research that aimed at demonstrating reasons for the adoption of educational program in SCM, propose a method to assess of education in SCM and apply it in an industry. The first approach was assessment the main professional SCM educational programs, the result among the assessment programs considered the Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) the best. In the second approach was rated the SCM education program on core competencies, the main result of the assessment was the proof that the SCM education program is effective for this purpose. In the third approach were assessed, the managerial point of view, the CPIM and Supply Chain Operations Reference Model (SCOR). As a conclusion, was obtained that education programs should develop skills in SCM and Green Supply Chain (GSCM). In the fourth approach was assessed the SCM in three company's three business units, and in this case, the evaluation results revealed no difference in maturity levels, when compared to the absolute measure of maturity achieved by the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Finally, the relationship between the maturity level and the components of the CPIM was assessed, and the results confirmed that it can be contributes to improve SCM maturity levels.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)FAPESP: 13/03525-
A MULTI-CRITERIA ASSESSMENT OF READINESS FOR DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY IMPLEMENTATION IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT: A RISK RESPONSE FRAMEWORK PERSPECTIVE
This paper highlights the challenges and opportunities introduced by disruptive technology for organizations. The convergence of emerging technologies holds the potential to enhance logistics and supply chain decision-making through heightened automation. The paper aims to conduct a multi-criteria assessment of readiness for implementing disruptive technology in supply chain management. The proposed approach employs the multi-criteria decision analysis methodology to assess organizational readiness and technological readiness. The approach suggests a procedure involving an analysis of benefits, opportunities, costs, and risks. It prioritizes and ranks factors associated with both organizational and technological readiness for the implementation of disruptive technology in supply chain management. Additionally, it introduces a supply chain risk response framework to tackle challenges related to readiness. Supply chain management and disruptive technology are expanding fields that provide significant opportunities for exploration. One of these opportunities involves assessing readiness from multiple perspectives, as presented in this paper, contributing to the literature.Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) Faculdade de Engenharia e Ciências Guaratinguetá, Av. MANAGING LEAD TIME VARIABILITY IN THE ACTIVITY INGREDIENT SUPPLY CHAIN: A GAME THEORY-BASED RISK RESPONSE FRAMEWORK
Uncertainty and disruption can significantly impact supply chains, and risk response is a means to diminish or circumvent these challenges. Therefore, this investigation aims to assess lead time variability in the supply chain of active ingredients. The research proposes a decision-making process to evaluate lead time variability in the active ingredient supply chain of the Brazilian chemical industry. It adopts Game Theory and linear programming in its solution. The two major contributions of this study are as follows: first, it presents a procedure to assess lead time variability; second, it proposes a supply chain risk response framework to address the lead time variability problem. Supply chain and lead time variability are emerging areas that offer significant opportunities for exploration, one of which is to evaluate lead time variability from the multiple perspectives presented in this study, thereby contributing to the current literature through a real application.
Neste sentido, o Modelo BOCR pode ser combinado com diferentes métodos multicritérios, tais como AHPSupplier selection is a multicriteria decision problem due to the diversity of quantitative or qualitative criteria that may be considered. This work describes a study that aimed to the selection of logistics service providers (LSP) which was modeled as a multicriteria problem in a chemical industry. Was used in the first step Benefits, Opportunities, Costs and Risks (BOCR) in the structure definition, and applied in the second step Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in the online environment considering group decision-making. Was evaluated three PSL pre-qualified by the company object of study, the first result established a strong balance among the LSP 1, 2 and 3. In this evaluation, 25% were considered priority for all criteria BOCR. As the country is emerging on the world scenario after the 2009 crisis, an increasing 40% of priority of the Opportunity Criterion was also analyzed. The evaluation of alternatives the LSP 1 obtained the highest global priority followed by LSP 2 and LSP 3. The LSP 1 is indicated as the best solution among the alternatives. The results were presented to the experts of the company object of study that validated as consistent and applicable in practice. Thus, by a real application it was showed the importance of adopting a procedure consistent for the selection of LSP, independent of the characteristics of the environment. In this sense, Model BOCR can be combined with several multicriteria methods, such as AHP methodCoordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES
