A case study on graphically modelling and detecting knowledge mobility risks

    Get PDF
As the world continues to increasingly depend on a knowledge economy, companies are realising that their most valuable asset is knowledge held by their employees. This asset is hard to track, manage and retain especially in a situation where employees are free to job-hop for better pay after providing a few weeks’ notice to their employers. In previous work we have defined the concept of knowledge risk, and presented a graph-based approach for detecting it. In this paper, we present the results of a case study which employs knowledge graphs in the context of four software development teams.peer-reviewe

A new world : the geopolitics of the energy transformation

Aware that the growing deployment of renewables has set in motion a global energy transformation with significant implications for geopolitics, Adnan Z. Amin, the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), with the support of the Governments of Germany, Norway and the United Arab Emirates, convened the Global Commission in January 2018. Chaired by former President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson of Iceland, the Commission comprises a diverse group of distinguished leaders from the worlds of politics, energy, economics, trade, environment and development. The Commission is an independent body with members serving in their individual capacity. This Report analyzes the geopolitical implications of the global energy transformation driven by renewables. It is the culmination of ten months’ deliberations by the Commission, involving four meetings held in Berlin, Oslo Reykjavik and Abu Dhabi respectively, as well as consultations with business leaders, academics and policy thinkers. It is informed by a number of background papers drafted by experts in the fields of energy, security and geopolitics. The Commission takes full and independent responsibility for this Report, which reflects the consensus of its members

Global themes of the financial inclusion landscape

This paper gives a broad overview of the financial inclusion environment, and one that would prioritize the financial needs of women and youth. The key issues are addressed, as well as innovations, industry practices, and regulatory developments through the lens of women and youth. The paper highlights key macro issues to be factored into the overall design of the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) comparative study for three Sub-Saharan countries

Critical Exponents of the N-vector model

Recently the series for two RG functions (corresponding to the anomalous dimensions of the fields phi and phi^2) of the 3D phi^4 field theory have been extended to next order (seven loops) by Murray and Nickel. We examine here the influence of these additional terms on the estimates of critical exponents of the N-vector model, using some new ideas in the context of the Borel summation techniques. The estimates have slightly changed, but remain within errors of the previous evaluation. Exponents like eta (related to the field anomalous dimension), which were poorly determined in the previous evaluation of Le Guillou--Zinn-Justin, have seen their apparent errors significantly decrease. More importantly, perhaps, summation errors are better determined. The change in exponents affects the recently determined ratios of amplitudes and we report the corresponding new values. Finally, because an error has been discovered in the last order of the published epsilon=4-d expansions (order epsilon^5), we have also reanalyzed the determination of exponents from the epsilon-expansion. The conclusion is that the general agreement between epsilon-expansion and 3D series has improved with respect to Le Guillou--Zinn-Justin.Comment: TeX Files, 27 pages +2 figures; Some values are changed; references update
